A good concise starter book
I am a nurse working in pain management and found this book excellent at giving me the basics of pain: drug types, conversions, thought processes, etc., in a concise and clear manner. The chapters are well laid out. It also covers palliative care in a very understandeable and manageable manner. A great book with which to begin.

Excellent supplment to Brown and Churchill
I used this book for two Graduate semesters of Complex Analysis. The course text was Brown and Churchill which I often found lacking in detail. This book might not be consider by some as a Graduate level text however I found it to be an excellent supplemental text to fill in the gaps and improve my understanding of the material.
Chemo Girl: Saving the World One Treatment at a Time

Good, helpful, and smart
Chemo-Girl is exactly what it sounds like -- it's a story that aims to help children who have been diagnosed with cancer. For a 12 year old, it is extremely well imagined and structured: this book makes chemotherapy understandable to children and, in the process, a good deal less scary. It also helps those siblings and friends surrounding a chemo patient understand the therapy without ...

A very thorough source of information
This handbook is the perfect reference for students looking for information on a specific protoctist or this group of organisms as a whole. Each chapter pinpoints a different organism within the kingdom and is written by an authority. The book is very well organized, making information extremely easy to find - a must for a student just entering the field. My only complaints are that it is ...

Cancer Nursing: Principles and Practice
This book is the bible to oncology nurses. It starts at the beginning of time to give you background on cancer, but it also goes in depth to describe each specific disease and as the disease progresses what signs and symptoms to be on the watch for. I found this book to be extremely informative for anyone who wants to know every thing there is to know about cancer. It is an easy read book that ...

Really the gist of genetics
In my sophomore genetics class we used two textbooks. One is a 600 pages textbook filled with colorful pictures, the other one is the this book. After I spent hours reading and comprehending a chapter in the 600-pages tiny-font textbook, I turned to the 200-pages large-font Gist of Gennetics. And there it is, truly the gist of genetics. I regretted that I didn't read this book first but instead ...

What a good source of info...
When I got this CD ROM, I was in disbelief of how a CD would help me with my education. It made every thing easier to find. It's a good source of information. I am really impressed with how my grades improved with the use of it.

An up-to-date, serious, and effective overview and study
Now in a thoroughly updated and expanded fifth edition, Chronic Illness: Impact And Interventions is a study text especially intended for upper level undergraduate and graduate students in nursing, social work, and rehabilitation, but the information it offers is useful to all family members and survivors dealing with the psychological, ethical, organizational, and financial difficulties of ...

It's about time!
A book like this should have come out long ago! When I was taking my "Vulnerable Populations" course in my BSN program we did not even have a textbook. Now nursing students can benefit from the experiences and research in this book.
Institutional Review Board: Management and Function

The Bible
This book is not perfect, but it is the most comprehensive resource in the somewhat obscure field of IRB administration. It's usefulness definitely outweighs its flaws. I recently passed the CIP exam, having read much of the other literature, but using Amdur & Bankert almost exclusively for review. Be sure it is the 2nd edition, the latest one at the moment. I found it so backbreaking to ...

Best Java Resource
This is the best resource for learning Java I have found. The book assumes the reader knows nothing about the language, starting with the most basic elements of the programming language and moving ahead to more complex topics that build on those elements. The code examples are in colored text so that it is very easy to read. Tips are given throughout the text for avoiding common errors that Java ...

Great primer for the discovery of oncogene structur and function.
I've read the first (1995) edition. This is a wonderful introduction to the molecular basis of oncogene structure and function. At this time (2007) the 1995 edition may be a bit dated but still if you really want to clearly understand how oncogenes were discovered, this is a great book to do it with. Highly recommended.

Excellent resource for school classes & personal
This text is a wonderful book for people seeking numbers. By that I mean some of us understand things better when we can see the numbers. It contains all the usual information in a colorful inviting format, and it also contains all those numbers it would take hours and hours and hours of websearching to find: the endurance, strength, cardio-vascular, BMI, calories needed, etc. all done by age ...

Fluids and Electrolytes Plus More
This book was a great review on fluids and electrolytes. Each chapter is short--just a few pages, but is packed with simple, concise information. Plus there is a quiz with rationales at the end of each section. I got more than I expected as the book's final section is on fluid and electrolye balance in diseases. This was a really good summary of Acute Renal Failure, Chronic Renal Failure, ...
