Alfred's Nose2 reviews

Katherine Tegen Books, 2008

Alfred Rocks!
This is one of the best kids books of all time, in my opinion. Children are immediately drawn to the fun, whimsical and artistic images, and they just love the story (which also happens to have a good hidden moral). Makes a great present and a must-have for every well-rounded children's library.

A Magykal Book
I loved this! The content was amazing, the idea of it was... Incredible! I really, really liked this book! I liked how the author spelt alot of the words diffrently than usaul. One of the most Magykal books I have ever read. Don't think it will be even CLOSE to Harry Potter! It is so far off! Good book! I enjoyed it very much!

Physik (Septimus Heap, Book 3)34 reviews
Angie Sage

Katherine Tegen Books, 2007

Through the looking glass; Physik takes Septimus beyond...
Angie Sage keeps the Septimus Heap series going strong with Physik - the third book after Magyk and Flyte. In Physik we have a complex web of plot elements (no spoilers in this review) that take the narrative deep into the history and architecture of the castle and deeper into a an increasingly sophisticated magical realm. There's more about the forms and uses of magyk in this title, and less ...

The Cheese1 review
Margie Palatini

Katherine Tegen Books, 2007

A zany, fun read.
Just why does the 'cheese stand alone' in the famous picturebook rhyme? Margie Palatini's THE CHEESE addresses this mystery in a whimsical manner, considering what really happened to the poor cheddar and using a series of zany drawings by Steve Johnson and Lou Fancher to explore it. Young picturebook readers seeking a taste of something different will find THE CHEESE a zany, fun read.

Catopia: A Cat Compendium2 reviews
Caroline Repchuk

Katherine Tegen Books, 2007

Wonderful book for any cat lover!!!
It is unfair to give this book a bad rating just because it was lost in the mail as the last reviewer did. Bad reviews should be based on the product - not the delivery problems. I gave this book to my daughter who is 7 and we both love it. The book is most like the popular dragonology books with many things to open inside and topics broken down into small boxed sections. It seems to be more for ...

The Owl and the Pussycat1 review
Edward Lear

Katherine Tegen Books, 2006

Gorgeous illustrations!
I found this book at the Tate Museum in London recently and was completely smitten with the beautiful illustrations. Both of my children loved to recite "The Owl and the Pussycat" by Edward Lear when they were small. Now my grandchildren will be able to have this book. I've never seen better illustrations of the poem. Wait until you get to the page where "they dined upon mince and slices of ...

Waiting for Normal6 reviews
Leslie Connor

Katherine Tegen Books, 2008

Hope is a gal with a flute
Once in a while a reviewer of children's books likes to sit down and reassess their occupation. Here I am. I am an adult and I review books for kids. And most of the time I really enjoy it. I just have a fabulous time reading all these children's books and then spouting off opinions about why you should or shouldn't hand 'em off to the youngsters. But in the end I am still an adult and my opinion ...

Long, long ago, when dinosaurs ruled the land, there lived a dino who was the worst of them all: Gorgonzola. Not really large, not really scary, Gorgonzola was known near and far for his . . . D.O. Yes, dinosaur odor . From horn to toe, Gorgonzola was one serious stinker. That is, until a bold little birdie decides it's high time to show this soap-challenged big boy just how to clean up his act. Young readers will laugh, squeal, and ...

Gorgeous New Children's Book
Mackerel and his two-legged friend, the lighthouse keeper, reside in an old lighthouse, where a twenty-four-candle lantern is lit, directing ships away from the rocks. Mackerel clims up, up, up with his beloved owner every day, to spend time watching over the sea at night, and in the day, the two head down, down, down, to eat and play. However, on one stormy night, the rapid, howling wind blows ...

Delightful!!
In Frognapped, Barry Wizzard's talented performing frogs have gone missing - and he blames our blameless heroine.
