Long time Ed Emberley user
I discovered Ed Emberley in 2nd grade. I had always loved to draw and had some reasonable ability (after all I ended up going to art school and getting an MFA and teaching art in college...). What these books by Ed Emberley have to offer is a way of seeing, of breaking down complicated shapes into simple objects, and being able to put simple shapes and lines together into a complex unit. Which ...

Love This Book
Great way to teach kids that everyone has feelings - some serious and some silly. Drawings are fun, and the message is beautiful.

This is the best book ever!!!
I love Ed Emberley and the techniques that he uses to teach drawing. This book is my favorite because it's packed with all kinds of things to draw. Gumball machines, people in action, animals, trucks, planes, you name it. You really can draw your own little world. This would be a great gift with some paper and markers for the young budding artist.

Awesome book
Ed Emberly's books are so great. If your child can follow visual directions and draw a line, circle and color in, then he or she can draw these things. My son is five and can draw these. He is quite smart and loves trains and trucks, so those are probably factors. When he isn't drawing from the book, he loves to look at it. Great for boys.

Ed Emberley's Picture Pie
This is a wonderful book for the kindergarten class I am currently student teaching in. We made the spring flowers while teaching circles, half circles, and quarter circles. It also made a bright spring bulletin board.

My daughter loved this book when she was young
When my daughter was very young, I checked this book out of the library and read it to her many times. She marveled at the creation of the big green monster by the turning of the pages. It starts with the two big yellow eyes, then a long bluish-greenish nose and ends with a monster. Then, the process is reversed, and page-by-page, the monster is taken apart until nothing is left but the pupils of ...

Great book for anyone who wants to learn to draw
I bought this book for my 4 1/2 year old but really for myself since I'm a horrible artist! This book allowed us to draw the animals together and he was able to follow the steps easily. If you can write the letter "D", "C" and stright and squiggly lines you can duplicate any animal is this book. Pretty cool since my son used to not like art of any sort but now he is in this drawing phase. I'm ...

Good one for the child - in you.
The anniversary book is significantly larger than the original and so loses some of the charm. However this shallow dip in nursery fairy tales is fun for both the listener and reader. New shrink wrapped books include stationary and 'postage' to encourage the young to build a habit of writing and mailing notes. The story is from a UK perspective and follows a postman who delivers the mail in a ...

I taught myself to draw with Ed Emberley!
Ed Emberley is amazing. This book is great for Halloween or those times when you want to draw a monster or two. I taught myself how to use Illustrator and Ed's books are a great resource because of the way he simplifies each drawing. Don't fear, this book can be used just as well with pencils, crayons or markers.

A bold bright addition to any collection of children's books
A enjoy looking at this book just as much as my children do. I am a mother of 4 and a preschool teacher. The colors in this book are simple and bold. It is a great resource for teaching Spanish/English and numbers in the classroom. I like the fact that the Spanish words are not the simplest choices. It challenges the Spanish learner in me. I use this book with pre-schoolers mainly 2 year olds. It ...

Great review or word introduction
If you know how to pronounce the Spanish words correctly, this is a great book for toddlers. I've used it with my Toddler Spanish classes, and even my 4-7 year olds as they are learning to form their own opinions and original sentences in Spanish. I love the simplistic, yet BRIGHT pictures and how wonderfully sturdy the slick pages are. Use this along with Flip Flop Spanish workbook, and ...

DO read Todd Parr's book, DON'T miss out
Do's and Don'ts is a simply worded board book that gives kids funny suggestions on how to live life. "Do smile at people, don't stick your tongue out at them." My five year old son sometimes feels bad that he can't read like his older sister. This book makes him feel like he can with simple words and cute, simple illustrations. He loves to "read" it to grownups and laughs out loud every time!

Christmas Cards!
If you liked the Jolly Postman, you will love this book too! It's all the fun of opening up your favorite fairy tale characters' mail with a Christmas theme! This book is super cute. I love opening up the letters from their individual envelopes. I am also always amazed by the art work. Every time I look through this book, I notice new little details that I didn't see before. Two big thumbs up!

Picture Pie 2
I keep having to order copies of this book! My grandchildren enjoy it so much that I end up sending my current copy home with one them. The many animal pictures keep them busy for hours. Now that they all have a copy I can order one to use in my classroom. The clear directions for preparing materials present excellent oportunities for me to teach fractions. The sequenced step-by-step pictures ...

Monsters can be Silly too!
The book is thirty pages long in dark black pages with bright happy and sad colorful faces with two holes for the eyes and the larger shape opening for the nose. In the front of the book is the diagram that explains the steps to use the flaps. A child who is not yet able to read will know how to follow these self-explanatory steps with cute pictures. First the book gets opened with the flap being ...

Every child WILL love to create and draw!
As a child who loved to draw - but was all "thumbs" in drawing - Emberley's Thumbprintbook was an amazing gift. Suddenly, I could duplicate the art in a drawing book and then go on to create my own shapes and creations. As I got older, I moved onto his other wonderful art books (such as Red, Puple, Orange, Green), but my thumbprints always remained my favorite. This is a simple but enlivening ...

An adorable read...
WHOSE TOSE ARE THOSE is Jabari Asim's second board book for babies and toddlers in which the focus is on body parts. The text is playful and engaging and appeals to a child's excitement about themselves. The illustrations are the perfect complement and are bright and colorful, making them easily relatable to the words on the pages. Little girls, especially, will love the book as it clearly ...
