Dark Legend (The Carpathians (Dark) Series, Book 7)118 reviews
Christine Feehan

Leisure Books, 2002

Very Enjoyable
I bought my first copy second hand. While I was reading it, about one fourth of book came loose. Even though it was annoying to hold the book together, I could not stop reading. When it was reprinted recently, I went and bought a new copy and paid full price. I fully intend on reading it for the third time. Many books are good, but few are magic. This one is.

I would give it a 4.5 stars
It is not the typical romance but I loved it. This is a good change and I could not put it down.

Dark Guardian (The Carpathians (Dark) Series, Book 8)93 reviews
Christine Feehan

Leisure Books, 2002

One of the better 'Dark' stories
I found this book to be a much better read then the other 'Dark' books I've read. However,I felt the author should have made Jaxon more objective to her 'Carpathian' transformation, instead of calmly accepting it. After all she is supposed to have a very independent nature! The other complaint I have about this book is the use of the word 'honey' Come on, Lucian is 2000yrs old, with Old ...

The Only One58 reviews
Christine Feehan, Susan Grant

The Only One
I picked this up because I am a fan of Christine Feehan. I had not read anything by the other authors at that time. After reading this, I would definately read more by them and I am totally hooked on the dark series. I would recommend the series to anyone who is hooked on Vampire stories with some romance thrown in. The characters are larger than life and a thoroughly enjoyable read.

Always great
Feehan is great, as always. The Liu piece is also great and you should know that it is actually the #4 story in the Dirk and Steele series.

Will read again and again!
I have read many of the Dark Series books, and this one has been my favorite. I really enjoyed Dayan's personality and his love for Corinne. Like a few others, I didn't like Lisa at all, but the book really isn't about her so it was easy to ignore. It also irrated me when Dayan called Corinne "honey", however, not enough to affect how much I love this book, Dayan, and Corinne. I have read this ...

Dark Prince (The Carpathians (Dark) Series, Book 1)206 reviews
Christine Feehan

Leisure Books, 2005

Birth of a captivating series
This novel was the first in a series that captivates many. It gave a whole new twist on the world of vampires and shapeshifters. Feehan molded a concept that has been around for years into her own. You fall in love with Mikhail and Raven. You are affected emotionally when things start happening to them. You feel for the carpathian people and wish them deliverance from the plight with ignorant ...

Truly malicious zombies - and with a sense of humor!
One of the best horror stories I've read. I understand Hollywood is making a movie, hopefully they'll due it justice. Creepy!

The Sinai Secret (Leisure Fiction)5 reviews
Gregg Loomis

Leisure Books, 2008

Loomis does it again.
I will simply say that anyone who is a fan of Gregg Loomis, and there are many out there, this will not disappoint. This is quite possibly one of, if not, the best he has produced to date. If you are a fan of the whole "secret knowledge/lost wisdom/arcane knowledge tale" ala Dan Brown/Steve Berry/James Rollins/Matthew Reilly...then this book is definately up your alley...Gregg Loomis would fit ...

City Of The Dead101 reviews
Brian Keene

Leisure Books, 2005

Remember to breathe in this nonstop action packed Zombie thriller.
Luckily I picked up and read The Rising just recently. So I knew there was a part 2, `City of the Dead', waiting to be read when I put down the first book. I would have been tearing my hair out if I hadn't known there would be a part 2 after reading the ending of The Rising. What a great way to end a book, cliffhanger or not. Thankfully, for me at least, it was a cliffhanger. `City of Dead' ...

Songs of Innocence (Hard Case)17 reviews
Richard Aleas

Leisure Books, 2007

Fitting Sequel to the Celebrated 'Little Girl Lost'
'Little Girl Lost' was a very impressive debut by Richard Aleas. It was nominated for both Edgar and Shamus awards. Although the first book can stand on its own, 'Songs of Innocence' follows up John Blake's life, a former detective who lost his love in the first book. This book is darker, faster paced, and contains even more finely drawn characters than its predecessor. There are echoes of ...

The Pegasus Secret21 reviews
Gregg Loomis

Leisure Books, 2005

Great author
Almost finished and I can't wait to read his next one. This one was published about the same time frame as "DaVinci Code" and has a similar theme but different enough to keep it interesting. I think this was the 1st book he wrote. I started with the 3rd one, Sinai Secret, and was hooked.

Somebody Owes Me Money2 reviews
Donald E. Westlake

Leisure Books, 2008

Vastly entertaining
I'm really glad that Hard Case Crime has chosen to reprint this early Donald Westlake novel, not only because Somebody Owes Me Money is a really good book, but also for a more personal reason. I've been reading his series books for so long -- whether under his own name, or the Richard Stark pseudonym -- that I had really forgotten how good Westlake could be at standalone comic crime novels. ...

Dark Hollow23 reviews
Brian Keene

Leisure Books, 2008

Keene's best work to date
Most people that have read a Brian Keene novel probably associate him with zombies and for good reason. His novels The Rising, City of the Dead, and Dead Sea are among the top novels in the zombie sub-genre. Don't let these three fool you into thinking that Keene is just another guy writing a zombie novel. Dark Hollow one of his three non-zombie horror novel and his best writing to date. The ...

The Last Twilight (Dirk & Steele)22 reviews
Marjorie M. Liu

Leisure Books, 2008

Fabulous author
Liu has yet to let me down. I love her books and I love reading the Dirke and Steele steries. Liu has a wonderful way of taking the reader to exotic and new locations in each book. Her characters are unique in thier personalities, abilities, and beliefs. In this latest book, Amiri (once a captured prisioner in the Russian experimental facility) is sent to the African Congo to protect a ...

Da Vinci Code - Light
When I first started reading the book, I thought that this was a complete rip off of Dan Brown's Da Vinci Code (DVC). It wasn't. The book has nowhere near as intricate a plot line as DVC, and the storyline is not really very similar to DVC. However, it does have the same "feel" as DVC. The bad guys aren't as sinister as the ones in DVC. All in all, it was a good read, but I labelled it Da ...
