Sal¡ de paseo2 reviews
Sue Williams

Libros Viajeros, 1995

Excellent for toddlers!
I am a bilingual storyteller and was introduced to this book through my job. The illustrations are good, portraying a young boy as he goes on a walk and all the animals he comes across. The children I've read this book to love to guess what animal they will be seeing next by using the pictures. I would recommend this book to parents with small children. You can do so much with it!

Perfection / La perfección
What a delight to find a rhyming book that emerges from translation as captivating as the original! This lovely book with cut-paper illustrations has entranced children as young as two years old, who delight in imitating the bird sounds and following along to call out "tilín, tilín" as the cat's bell warns off the birds he wants so much to catch. I fell in love with the book in English, but I ...

Encuentro1 review
Jane Yolen

Libros Viajeros, 1996

Too many alternative viewpoints or a great story?
I thought this book was beautiful, both in the dreamlike quality of the writing and rich pictures that vividly depicts the scene captured in snapshots frame don eery other page. However, granting this boy a vision and warning dream seems like stretching the alternative view that doens't glorify Chirstopher Columbus and instead focuses on how his arrival killed off the people with diseases ...

Salta y brinca1 review
Ellen Stoll Walsh

Libros Viajeros, 1996

Super translation of Hop Jump
"Hop Jump" is the story of a frog who wants to dance, not just hop. At first the other frogs wont give her space to move the way she wants, so she goes off by herself. Soon the others get curious about what she's doing, and by the end everyone is jumping and dancing with room for all. This is a great story about being yourself even when others don't accept you. The Spanish translation is ...

La Casa Adormecida
The language is simple and repeptitive, making this a great book to teach Spanish in Elementary and Middle grades. Illustrations are great. It's also a good book for native speakers practicing reading. I use it as a check-out book for English as a Second Language students, to motivate literacy acquisition.
