Pilgrim's Progress 34 reviews John Bunyan
Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, 1971
The audio book is very good I have made it a habit this year to get through many of the classics on audio book during my daily commute. I picked Pilgrim's Progress since it was one of the most influential English books ever published, and I wanted to see what it was all about.
The audio book was published by Blackstone Audio and the reader was Robert Whitfield. The reader did an excellent job and was very easy to ...

When the Sky Is Like Lace 25 reviews Elinor Lander Horwitz
Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, 1987
The best childrens' book of all time!!! So I was ABOUT to pay $132 for an out of print version of this book when I saw it had been reprinted!!! I feel like its Christmas. This was my FAVORITE book as a child. I have an old color photocopy that I have read every day to my 13 months old since he was 6 months old. Its SO battered and falling apart - but he still picks it to have me read to him every time. He LOVES it. If you want ...

My Friend Flicka 30 reviews Mary O'Hara
Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, 1973
Surprise! A clinical description I am in the middle of lstening to this book. Its detailed descriptions of ranch life and horses are quite compelling. But what surprised me was the absolutely accurate description of a boy with ADD. This book was written some two decades before attention deficit disorder gained anyone's attention, but O'Hara's descriptions of Ken's behavior are absolutely consistent.
And then O'Hara answers ...

Color Atlas of Anatomy: A Photographic Study of the Human Body 36 reviews Johannes W Rohen, Chihiro Yokochi, ...
Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, 2002
Great for cadaver lab! I don't know how I would have gotten through my cadaver lab without this book. We are tested on cadavers (not pictures) and this was a great way to fuse the information gained from drawn pictures and actual cadavers. I would definitely recommend this to anyone taking anatomy lab.

Pathophysiology of Heart Disease: A Collaborative Project of Medical Students and Faculty 28 reviews Leonard S Lilly
Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, 2002
Best Book for Cardiology This book is #1 on my Top 10 List of All-time Best Medical Texts. I first read this book as an undergraduate during the summer after anatomy and physiology. I might have understood about 5% of it since my medical vocabulary was limited, but I was able to read it because of the clarity of its prose. I read it again in PA school and fell in love with it because it explains the 'how' and the 'why' ...

When Worlds Collide & After Worlds Collide (2 Big Volumes in 1) 54 reviews Edwin Balmer, Philip Wylie
Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, 1972
When Worlds Collide I gave this book to my 14-year-old grandson, who is a Sci-Fi fan, for Christmas. I read it when I was his age and re-read it when I purchased it this time. It's still as good as I remembered it and my grandson LOVED it too.

Swallows and Amazons 62 reviews Arthur Ransome
Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, 1958
One of the very best books One of the best books ever. Good characters who learn and grow before your eyes. Excellent lessons on personal responsibility and the perils and rewards of adventure. I didn't discover it until I was over 50, but I enjoy it as much as do the kids I've given copies to since. The rest of the series are good too, but this is my favorite. It might be time for me to read it again.

Quick Reference to Critical Care 16 reviews Nancy H Diepenbrock
Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, 2007
This is the one I carry every day to work! As a new nurse in the ICU, I was fortunate to have a didactic critical care class. That being said, the information was overwhelming and not broken down into easily digestible nuggets. This book gives you "the down and dirty" of what you need to know when you need to know it as the index and table of contents are accurate and easy to use. Finding info fast that tells me what I need is what ...

Medical Dictionary 20 reviews STEDMAN
Lippincott Williams and Wilkins, 2000
Must have Doctors As both doctor and founder of a EchoScribe Inc, a leading internet based medical transcription company, (www.echoscribe.com) I must recomend Stedmans as the dictionary that all physicians must own. There is also the PDA version that is also a good carry. It not only provides a quick reference, but in writing medical letters, and transcribing documents, this book is a "medical must have."

Notes on Nursing 16 reviews Florence Nightingale
Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, 1992
A great book for those considering nursing as a career, or for "tired" nurses Nursing more than just a "job," it's a vocation. Florence Nightingale knew this, and Notes on Nursing reflects that philosophy. If you're seriously considering nursing--or are a nurse who is "burned out," read this book. It will enlighten and edify you.

Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, 2008
A Gem I've been teaching massage for over 15 years, and in all that time I've never come across such a wonderful book on body mechanics. This book is a gem. As a teacher I find its content up-to-date and concise. The photos are clear, the exercises are brilliant, and the tips for students are an extra bonus. My students have learned an incredible amount from this book, and I see it in their work with ...

Anatomy Text This book has incredible detail for each of the body systems and is an invaluable resource for those people who are looking for a reference book to study the systems for anatomy and physiology.
