Los tres pequeños jabalíes / The Three Little Javelinas 17 reviews Luna Rising Editors
Luna Rising, 1996
A retelling of the "Three Little Pigs" story with a tumbleweed twist! Who hasn't heard of or read the classic story for children, The Three Little Pigs and the Big Bad Wolf? In this retelling, the pigs are javelinas, and the wolf is the trickster, the coyote. Instead of houses made of straw, sticks, and bricks, the houses are made of tumbleweed, cactus ribs, and adobe bricks.
The ending won't surprise you. There's a reason coyotes howl like they mean it.

Elmo's Big Word Book/El libro grande de palabras de Elmo (Sesame Street Elmo's World) 1 review Sesame Workshop
Luna Rising, 2006
Excellent bilingual book This is a great introduction to bilingual reading because everything is in both English and Spanish. My 2 1/2 year old is just learning Spanish and she loves this book. Elmo goes to all his favorite places (the park, the library, the grocery store, etc.) and shows you his favorite things in each place.

My Name is Gabriela/Me llamo Gabriela (Bilingual): The Life of Gabriela Mistral/la vida de Gabriela Mistral 2 reviews Monica Brown
Luna Rising, 2005
Great book with English and Spanish! Gabriela Mistral is the name Lucila Godoy Alcayaga gave to herself because she liked the sound of it. And this is her story; the story of the first Latin American writer (she was born in Chile) to receive (in 1945) the Nobel Prize for Literature.
Monica Brown has successfully created a tribute to a woman that not only entertains children with the lyrical words of the story but also educates ...

Carlos and the Cornfield / Carlos y la milpa de maiz 2 reviews Jan Romero Stevens
Luna Rising, 1999
Fun We speak Spanish and want our children to learn, so we purchased this book. The story is fun and the pictures are nice. We read it to them in Spanish, and they read it in English, as it has both languages. Our hopes are that when they become familiar with the story, they will read it in Spanish too!

If you'e an illustration fan, you'll enjoy this book The story line a very funny. I swear, it sounds like my own grandfather telling this story. The glossary in the back is really cool. The illustrations are wonderful. I'd recommend this book for early readers or kids of about 5 or so. Our 3 yr old didn't sit still long enough to enjoy it. But mom and dad sure did!
