Culture Shock! Russia: A Survival Guide to Customs and Etiquette (Culture Shock! Guides) 1 review Anna Pavlovskaya
Marshall Cavendish Corporation, 2007
Informative and fun While I dont think it is possible to write a book about every aspect of a country's culture, I think this one does give a lot of info in a format that is easy to understand. This book includes some general information about culture and customs but also gives specific examples in a humorous and illustrative way. It is a quick read and does a great job of explaining why things are a certain way ...

Culture Shock! Brazil: A Survival Guide to Customs and Etiquette (Culture Shock! Guides) 3 reviews Volker Poelzl
Marshall Cavendish Corporation, 2007
Good so far I have not finished reading this book entirely, but what I have read is very good. It is easy to read, and from what I already know about Brazil, an accurate description so far. I also like the fact that the book definitely tells about Brazil from the perspective of an outsider that is not familiar with the culture. It will prepare travelers to not be shocked, and rather, to appreciate what they ...

Culture Shock! Philippines: A Survival Guide to Customs and Etiquette (Culture Shock! Philippines) 1 review Alfredo Roces, Grace Roces
Marshall Cavendish Corporation, 2007
Extemely valuable for anyone interested in the Philippines I found this book to be extremely informative. It is centered on western ex-pats living in the Philippines, but it is highly useful for anyone traveling there. It is nicely written and also includes some Tagalog phrases/translations that are not well known among non-Filipino. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who wants a general overview of Filipino culture, society, and history.

Culture Shock! Hawaii: A Survival Guide to Customs and Etiquette (Culture Shock! Guides) 1 review Brent Massey
Marshall Cavendish Corporation, 2007
Great resource This is a great book to learn about Hawaiian culture, if you live on O'ahu. We moved to the Big Island from Colorado and we noticed that there is a big difference between the islands as to how you are treated by the locals. Probably due to the fact that Hawaii is a bigger island and doesn't have the high concentration of tourists so the local population is a bit more friendly and really has the ...

Marshall Cavendish Corporation, 2007
Morocco: "Knock for Something Completely Different" This book provides a detailed description of modern Moroccan culture for those from Western backgrounds trying to make sense of Moroccan values, behavior, and daily life. The content is explained well and easy to read, although the type face is rather small.

Culture Shock! China: A Survival Guide to Customs and Etiquette (Culture Shock! China) 1 review Angela Eagan, Rebecca Weiner
Marshall Cavendish Corporation, 2007
Read BEFORE you make a single travel arrangement Cultureshock covers most if not all the content of about 3 other books I've read on traveling to china. Had I read this first I would have not made some of my initial mistakes in arranging travel.

very accurate! great book! easy to read and definitely prepared me to study abroad in costa rica. When there, i felt like i was better prepared for the situations that came up because i'd learned about them from this book. Such as, carry your own toilet paper and how to work the showers! it was great knowing so much about the culture before i lived there!

Mines of the Minotaur (The Companions Quartet) 1 review Julia Golding
Marshall Cavendish Corporation, 2008
Control and Power This story is all about power. Connie has a lot of power as a universal. She can talk to any mythical creature, unlike most companions who can only communicate with one, or a certain niche, of creatures. This makes her envied, feared and coveted. She has fought Kullervo and won before, he still wants the control of her powers so he can subdugate humanity and allow mythical creatures the ...

Ice Cream Larry 5 reviews Daniel Manus Pinkwater
Marshall Cavendish Corporation, 2004
The Birth of the Cold The former "Bongo Larry" returns as "Ice Cream Larry" in this delightful continuation of the Pinkwaters' series about the multi-talented polar bear. Jill Pinkwater's vivid, varied colors (pen and ink, and colored marker) and Daniel Pinkwater's droll prose combine for another hit. Here, Larry gets in trouble after eating 250 pounds of ice cream from the walk-in freezer at Cohen's Cones. Larry ...
