Graffiti Planet: The Best Graffiti from Around the World
Alan Ket
Michael O'Mara, 2007
Graffiti or "street art" has been a significant art form for more than 20 years, altering and shaping the urban landscape from Tokyo to Paris, Los Angeles to Sydney, Belfast to Berlin. Ever-changing and evolving, its anonymous, transient nature means it literally can appear one day and disappear the next. Yet out of this shifting mass of spray paint, some true stars have emerged—artists such as Keith Haring, Jean-Michel Basquiat, and ...
The Wicked Wit of Winston Churchill

Michael O'Mara, 2001
It's one thing to know the right words, but another when and how to use them.
The wise and witty words of Winston Churchill ring throughout the 20th Century.Any that knew him personally or had anything to do with him must have waited with anticipation of hearing what he would say anytime he opened his mouth. This held true for Kings,Presidents,Generals and yes even for his family, including his grandaughter. At times, his use of silence could be as cutting a reply as ...

Not so great...
This book is strange. The trivia sections are ridiculously easy (with questions like "5 x 10 = ___" or "11, 22, 33...next number in sequence is: __"). Then there are puzzles that are quite impossible with barely any instruction (you have to look at the answers just to figure out how to play). I've ended up skipping through and just playing the Sudoku puzzles. I'd recommend "The Big Book of ...

The funniest book I've ever read
I cannot disagree more with aurelius' review. Naughty aurelius. If you can't say something nice then don't say anything at all, didn't your mother teach you any manners, luv? This is the funniest book I have ever read, so funny that the neighbours on both sides phoned the police on hearing manic laughter emmanating from my bedroom window non-stop between the hours of 10pm and 2am last night. ...

Charming from start to finish!
I actually listened to the audiobook version, read very entertainingly by John Barrowman himself. I can't say whether the book benefits from a slight abridgment, but I suspect it benefits quite a bit by the addition of John Barrowman's always charming delivery. I smiled all the way through, laughed aloud in places, and found myself touched in more. Besides the look into his life thus far (his ...

The big little
Boy was it small! At less that 4" X 4", it will not fit as well as you might want, in your book shelf. It is meant to carry in your pocket. As references go, It's A quick "go to" for the skinny of what a cockney might mean in his seemingly senseless banter. It makes perfect sense if you know. A study of this book will put you in the know. You will need more to be eloquent if there is such a thing ...

Over the top. But that's a good thing.
The Book With No Name is a fun read. It's an over-the-top gangster/vampire/biker/bad-cop/worse-cop shoot-'em-up blood-with-extra-guts sort of thing. It has some problems, though. A note in the front warns you that it was written for a UK audience and that you will just have to get over the fact that 'realize' is not spelled, but rather spelt 'realise.' That's not all you have to get over. ...

Order a new Morgan and you will have to wait a year for it to be delivered—but flipping through Morgan: 100 Years is sure to make the wait more bearable. Relating the Morgan story year-by-year, the first half of this book highlights landmark events and sporting successes from 1909 to the present. The history draws on information and illustrations from the archive at the Morgan factory where each Morgan car is still lovingly hand-built by ...

The World's Stupidest Criminals (The World's Stupidest series)
Michael O'Mara Books UK
Michael O'Mara, 2005
Ever been tempted by a life of crime? As the stories in this hilarious collection illustrate, unless you are a lot smarter than the average law-breaker, it may not be such a good idea. Whether storming into a bank having forgotten to put eyeholes in the bag they were using as a disguise, or writing their ransom demand on the back of their own parole card, some dumb criminals give crimefighters a far too easy time. This gut-busting assortment ...

The Story Behind the Master
I was introduced to this comic genius by my husband, a British citizen. He suggested we watch a small BBC mockumentary called simply, The Office, which consisted of a sad little office manager of a depressing paper company somewhere across the pond. I watched it with my eyes covered. It was like watching a car accident, but I was enjoying it. Of course, we Americans know the Brits have a great ...

Super Fun
This is a great children's book! My step mom got it for our (at that time)18 month boy and he loves it!!! The illustrations are great, the story is cute and easy to read, but the best is the little finger puppet... You can make him bounce along to the rythme of the story. At 20 months now our boy can repeat the sounds and knows all of the animals in the book.

A great addition, but...
This was my first try at Hitori, and I haven't been able to put this book down for most of the week! The instructions are easy to follow, and the puzzles are set into sections of 20 puzzles per difficulty. There are different size grids in each difficulty, so you can get into some time consuming puzzles before you reach the last levels. I do have a relatively minor complaint: The author ...

"[...] English"
As someone with a degree in English I found this book very funny. Some of the content really made me think about where he got his examples from. Then I realized people talk and write like that everyday and to the average person it sounds/looks fine. It's nice to know that there are other people out there who are bothered by the use of the English language. It was something to easily read in my ...

274 Things You Should Know About Churchill
Patrick Delaforce
Michael O'Mara, 2006
Sir Winston Churchill was undoubtedly the greatest leader of the Second World War, and unarguably the greatest Briton of his age. Born at the height of British imperial power and twice elected Prime Minister, he galvanized the British people and their allies to resist the onslaught from both Nazi Germany and Japan. In doing so, he became the architect of the destruction of these unquestionably evil empires. Because—or in spite—of his ...
