Modern Ranch Living: A Novel 13 reviews Mark Jude Poirier
Miramax, 2004
Plussing as which this book was great. I couldn't put this book down. The characters are hilarious and well thought out. Kendra's grammar had me laughing out loud constantly. Every character has their own original quirkyness that tends to tie them all together perfectly. I after reading the description of this book, I didn't think I'd enjoy the book as much as I did. This was my first Poirier and certainly not my last.

Ptolemy's Gate (The Bartimaeus Trilogy, Book 3) 23 reviews Jonathan Stroud
Miramax, 2007
ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS I HAVE EVER READ I finished this book about 30 minutes ago and the ending is so powerful I sort of needed to recover from it. This trilogy is amazing and so well told it should not be missed.
When the main character encountered his boyhood art teacher and was shown what he had become I felt an intense sadness for him. In a sense the entire series leads to that one moment which then starts Nathaniel's ...

Velvet Goldmine 9 reviews Todd Haynes
Miramax Books, 1998
Must-Have for Velvet Goldmine fans! I read the screenplay in one sitting, it's just as engrossing as the movie! What I really loved was seeing some of the parts that were edited in the movie version and seeing some of the written words. The screenplay also helped to answer some questions and made things more clear; everytime I watch the movie or read the screenplay I see something new - it's amazing. The screenplay also includes ...

Great fo kids I bought this for my daughter last month and she can't wait for the next book to come out. I read the book as well and even though it is predictable, it is a very charming story. Kids with a [..]reading level should have no problem with the book and they will probably really get into the story.

Shakespeare in Love: A Screenplay 28 reviews Marc Norman, Tom Stoppard
Miramax, 1999
LOVE IS A STORM OF WORDS AND THUNDER Marc Norman and Tom Stoppard wrote the screenplay of Shakespeare in Love. The film is marvellous and so powerful that no one can resist that love drama. The story of Romeo and Juliet is itself so frightfully emotional that no one can resist the charm of the tragedy and the pain of the love story. So many artists, in so many genres and arts, have tried themselves at adapting this story, this ...

Princess Mononoke 13 reviews Miramax
Miramax Books, 1999
A coffee table book that isn't trite? I've given this a high rating, not because it is flawless but because it is an awesome companion to the film and a wonderful keepsake for that time in your life when you get a coffee table to put it on. If you own the film, you probably won't need this--and honestly, I purchased it as a way to show my support of the US distribution of this film. The book is a US translation of the Japanese ...

The Journey of August King 4 reviews John Ehle
Miramax, 1995
It is one of the best novels I have ever read. The Journey of August King is a novel rich in description of the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina. This book very well illustrates slavery and how it was dealt with as well as the kindness of the mountain people of that time. Being from North Carolina myself, I am fully aware of how accurate the description is. The scenery makes you feel as if you are actually there with August King. ...
