What a marvelous book!
World Without End exceeded my expectations. The story takes place two centuries after its predecessor, Pillars of the Earth. The location is the same, the village of Kingsbridge, in England. Mr. Follet has created marvelous, believable characters to carry his story of building bridges, romances, serfdom, and the horror of the Plague. Like Pillars of the Earth, I was again sorry to finally read ...

Worth the $$
I've had this book for over 2 years now and have used it intermittently (gardening and storage tips, mainly). Unfortunately, I often forget it's in the house and use expensive, store-bought solutions. Today, however, my bathroom sink was clogged and I have a sick child so didn't want to run to the store for Liquid Plumber (my first instinct). I remembered the book, tried the baking ...

A review from someone freshly unemployed
Sometimes I go through a chick-lit period I'm not proud of so it's a good thing this book turned out wayyyy beyond chick-lit. In fact, I wouldn't put it in that category, which saves me the embarrassment of recommending this to anyone and everyone. It had the Thing I Do the Least against it in the first place - paying full-price instead of it being the product of a three-hour long search ...

5 is not enough stars!
I read about 1-3 books a week, so I am a well-read woman. This book made it to my top 10 list and I can't believe it took me so long to discover it. Fascinating story of love, betrayal and history all rolled into one incredible book. This is the author's only novel and I hope he'll write more. His ability to capture emotions, dialogue and place are truly fine. I highly reccomend this book.

The Best Translation of Inferno. . .
. . .is the one that you'll actually read. For most of us, that's the magnificent one by John Ciardi. It's also the one that's most likely to lead the reader on to Purgatorio and Paradiso. Hell, it turns out, is the most attractive of the three canticles into which the Divine Comedy is divided. Fleshy, graphic and personal it has a lurid appeal that the other, more spiritual canticles lack. ...

Hilarious!!
I have read all of Jen Lancasters book and just like fine wine, she only gets better! She has a way of making even the most mundane of tasks hysterically funny and is self-deprecating in an endearing way. This book is a must have!
The Art of Keeping Secrets

Secrets revealed can be devastating (2.75*s)
Set in Marsh Cove, a small town in the low-country of South Carolina, this story, broadly speaking, essentially attempts to capture the emotions and reactions that any family would experience over the untimely loss of a loved one or the discovery of painful secrets held by some of them. Two years after dealing with the death of her husband while supposedly flying solo to Colorado for a hunting ...

A Very Good Read
If you are planning a trip to Italy, read this book before you go. Everything Michelangelo will mean so much more to you. A big, fat, thick book, but worth every minute of your time. One of those books that you tend to read more slowly near the end, because you don't want it to end.

HISTORY & SUSPENSE
This is what I want in a novel! I learned quite a bit about a "slice" of history that I knew very little about before: primarily London just before WW1 and, to a lesser extent, a sample of heinous cruelty delegated by many of the Russian 'nobility' (1895). For readers who prefer to sort of whet their appetites before diving into extensive historical studies, this presents the best of both ...

Great book
I really enjoyed this book. I enjoy reading about restoration england. Forever Amber is a great one to read if you like this time period. It was interesting to read something from the point of view of Barbara Palmer and def. dealt with her more sympathetically than most novels have.

Great Book.
I loved this book. It was one of many of Sylvia's books I purchased. She gives the readers hope and joy. I would recommend this book because it is wonderful insight. She knows what she is talking about and expresses it very well.

Great Summer Read!
I picked up this book because my friend told me the setting was based on where I grew up as a kid. But, this book is more than just a trip down memory lane. It is poignant, funny, suspenseful and just plain good reading! You will fall in love with these characters so carefully crafted by Lesley Kagan. This would be a super book for at the beach or pool. Don't miss it!

Different Point of View
Very well-written, I couldn't put it down. The idea of Anne Boleyn as morally superior and upright is played out well in this historical novel. This book may go along with Joanna Denny's "Anne Boleyn: the New Life of England's Tragic Queen". It is interesting to contemplate the other side of the coin in the story of the infamous Anne...

warm character study
In Seaboro, South Carolina twelve year old Catherine "Cappy" Leary plays with the neighbors especially thirteen year old Boyd Loughlin. That is until Boyd's two year old brother Sam accidentally dies. Cappy blames herself after overhearing Boyd tells his mother she was watching Sam. At that time she did not know it, but her childhood ended; she did believe no good thing will come her way for ...
