Desert of the Heart 8 reviews Jane Rule
Naiad Pr, 1985
An Emotional Landscape I just finished re-reading Desert of the Heart, written by Jane Rule, for about the twentieth time. It is a remarkable, perfect little book. I have almost memorized certain lines and phrases, and I am certain that this work, all Jane Rule's work, has influenced my own. It says what it has to say, in the first paragraph, and it says it again in the rest of the book, and it ends just as it should. ...

The Price of Salt 19 reviews Patricia Highsmith, Claire Morgan
Naiad Pr, 1991
A love story that's surprising --- for how good it is It's Christmas, and money's tight, so Therese Belivet does what any unemployed 19-year-old stage designer might --- she takes a temp job in the toy department of a Manhattan department store. Her days define dreary. The aging sales clerks seem "stricken with an everlasting exhaustion and terror." As for her customers, they're also desperate, but for a doll, any doll.
Then Mrs. H.F. Aird walks ...

Lesbian Nuns: Breaking Silence 4 reviews
Naiad Pr, 1985
WONDERFUL INSIGHTS I have seen this book on countless discount tables. I finally bought it and read it. This is not a tell all for lesbian nuns who reveal their sexual escapades while cloistered in a convent. This is a collection of stories told by ex nuns about their short stay in convents all across America. It is their story. Their life. Each of these women left for various reasons and all are now fullfilled in ...

Set Up (Mcnab, Claire. Detective Inspector Carol Ashton Mystery, 11.) 4 reviews Claire McNab
Naiad Pr, 1999
Set Up for tension With this book Claire McNab returns to the excellent form of her earlier Carol Ashton mysteries. A highly enjoyable well written book which gives the flavour of Australia without dropping into cliches. Both the main plot and the usual romantic sub plot are excellent. The book is full of suspense and the intrigue is maintained until the very end. Highly recommend this book for all who enjoy ...

Lifting Belly Gertrude Stein
Naiad Pr, 1989
A rose is a rose is lifting belly is Gertrude Stein, a loving one. If you've read Stein before, you have probably heard the term "stream-of-consciousness." This erotic lesbian love poem is also a stream of pleasure and of love. Rebecca Mark's excellent introduction helps unravel some of the wonderful wordplay that Stein employs. Lifting Belly is a book to read aloud to someone who's your passion. Alone. In a romantic setting. Have some ...

Never Say Never 10 reviews Linda Hill
Naiad Pr, 1996
Turbulent romance that you won't soon forget Drama packed whirlwind romance. I'll remember this novel for a long time. Terrific prose - this author has a way with words and a wonderful turn of phrase. Four major issues serve to keep two people apart. How they deal with these issues keep the reader breathless until the very last page. You want Sara and Leslie to end up together because Sara is so very appealing as seen through Leslie's ...

4th Down: A Cassidy James Mystery (Cassidy James Mysteries) 1 review Kate Calloway
Naiad Pr, 1998
More people to confuse the mystery. Another good mystery from Kate. This one takes us away from the her little town and mainstay people. A new set of people to figure out. Cass has more stamina at the end of the mystery plot than most people have. As always, an interesting and intriging book.

what a wonderful read! This is one of those books that after you are done you may not spend hours thinking about the plot, but you will always remember Sharon and Patricia. What a wonderful story. Who said that happy endings are not "in" anymore? It's nice to read a story about two women who overcome what they have to in order to be together. Sharon and Patricia are neighbors who are drwan to each other from early ...

Hot Check 5 reviews Peggy J. Herring
Naiad Pr, 1997
Hot characters, enjoyable and believable. This is the first I have read by this author and I found it difficult to put down. She really develops the characters well and gives all of them enough time to be real. My only complaint would be that it was too short. When Alice meets Ricky you felt the chemistry between them. They both seemed to know a good thing when they see it. I loved the tuxedo scene! I hope we see them again!

Murder Undercover: A Denise Cleever Thriller 4 reviews Claire McNab
Naiad Pr, 1999
McNab's New Series a Winner This is the first in the Denise Cleever series, and it's a winner. It features undercover agent Cleever sent to an island resort to determine if a powerful family is involved in a rumored coup to overthrow the government. It is dangerous in the extreme - someone has already killed. What Cleever didn't count on is the daughter of the family being so attractive - and willful. McNab has returned ...

Friends and Lovers 3 reviews Jackie Calhoun
Naiad Pr, 2000
Friends into Lovers Danielle, the protagonist in "Friends and Lovers," seems to try to bring everyone down to her "in-the-closet" level. Maybe it's because she's so busy bed hopping, she doesn't see that she does not love others, but rather needs/uses them to better understand herself. Danny also isn't sure who her 16-year-old daughter, Tracy, is. At times, Tracy comes off more mature than Danny. Danny also ...

An Alaskan Wonder! This is my favorite book by Laura DeHart Young so far. What an incredible job she does in helping the reader visualize what life is like in Alaska and the Alaskan pipleline. I read this book from start to finish on the beach and was sorry to see it end. You can't find a better lesbian romance than this one!
