Fill a Bucket: A Guide to Daily Happiness for the Young Child1 review
Carol McCloud, Kathy Martin

Nelson Publishing & Marketing, 2008

A great message and easy for young children to understand
Although the message of Carol McCloud's first book, "Have You Filled A Bucket Today?" resonates with kids as young as 2 and 3, this book takes it a step closer to helping kids that age and slightly older (maybe as old as 5) get the idea that being kind and loving is important to their own happiness. I read it to my little guy (6 months old) and he loved the colors and pictures.

This Babe, So Small
Jann W. Martin

Nelson Publishing & Marketing, 2007

A well known story of the birth of Christ but told through the eyes of a seven year old girl whose family lives at the inn where Mary and Joseph came. This innocent child tells the story in a way that seems new to all of us. Her first hand experience gives the reader a child's perspective on what it was like to be there for the birth.

Piece of Mind2 reviews
Robert Bartlett

Nelson Publishing and Marketing, 2006

alan b. gazzaniga MD
Once again the author has created a well written masterpiece based on his own extensive clinical experience. Here is an attempt to focus on the meaning of the mind and the soul versus the anatomical brain. Don Ingram is a busy, impeccable, Boston, neurosurgeon who has four interesting patients on his service. Each patient has a different problem that involves either their brain or spinal cord. ...

The Greatest Gift3 reviews
John O'Shaughnessy

Nelson Publishing & Marketing, 2007

This Must Be Shared
This wonderful narrative is, in the end, a love story. For any one who has lost someone close, the challenges of moving forward with life can be difficult to manage, and extremely overwhelming. Author John O'Shaughnessy's story will help give perspective that hope is not lost, following their tragic event he and his children experienced. It is a real life story that shows us how difficult life ...

Being Bella: Discovering How to be Proud of Your Best2 reviews
Cheryl Zuzo

Nelson Publishing & Marketing, 2008

Fantastic book that is sure to become a child's favorite!
I bought Being Bella for my nephew and nieces and when it's story time they request I read "Bella". The story - about a girl who learns she doesn't have to be perfect to be accepted - is told through interactions with her parents, teacher & brother, who make the story well-rounded and easy to relate to for children and parents alike. The illustrations are fun, playful and engaging and have that ...

Expectant grandparents will relate to this one!
Sharon's first book speaks to the excitement and joy grandparents feel when expecting a grandchild. It will help remind those precious little ones how much they are loved. Those Were the Days: Baseball, Hotdogs, Apple Pie, And...1 review
Gary Diehl

Nelson Publishing & Marketing, 2008

Bittersweet and Endearing
A wonderful story that takes us back to days where children were encouraged to explore their world. Glen and his friends take us through some great adventures in what seemed simpler times. The story is refreshing in a time when most headlines want to keep me under the covers. I really enjoyed this tale of a boy becoming a young man, his friends and the people he loves most. Those Were the Days: ...

Salem Syndrome3 reviews
Robert Bartlett

Nelson Publishing & Marketing, 2005

medical thriller
The author has given us an excellent look into the workings of some aspects of medicine. Dr. Bartlett is a generational surgeon, scientist, musician, and now novelist. There have been notable MD/Novelist who in some cases never practiced medicine and wrote about it. Or practiced medicine and wrote about aspects of it not directly familiar to them. Here we have a clinician with enormous experience ...

Looking Back1 review
Mania Salinger

Nelson Publishing and Marketing, 2006

Wonderful Memoir
Mania Salinger's memoir, "Looking Back" is a touching story of a young girl's survival of the Holocaust. It is written in her own words, as though you are speaking with her and she is telling you her story. Her story is one of struggle, courage and hope and she tells it from her heart. I had the opportunity to meet Mania this week and she is an inspiration. Her book reveals aspects of WW ...

Through simple prose and vivid illustrations, this heartwarming book encourages positive behavior as children see how rewarding it is to express daily kindness, appreciation, and love. Bucket filling and dipping are effective metaphors for understanding the effects of our actions and words on the well being of others and ourselves.
