From Manhattan to Mississippi: A New Yorker Falls in Love with the South 5 reviews Daisy Karam-Read
Quail Ridge Press, 2007
Delightful A delightful read on a subject I've never given much thought to. The style of prose is easily read, intelligent in language and the topic one that, much to my surprise, deserves an audience. Thanks to Daisy, I'll make it a point to visit Mississippi and very soon.

Quail Ridge Press, 2004
I remmeber momma I am a 59 year old male in search of receipes that will yeild the memories of my childhood in Alabama. I have found it in the
Southern Cook's Handbook. This cook book is the answer to "how did they do that?". I thought I knew how to bake a ham, but then I tried the step-by-step guide to baking a ham, and boy what a difference it made. The spiral cut ham I baked for Easter was tender, moist, and ...

Quail Ridge Press, 2007
Best of the Best 500 Fast and Fabulous Five Star 5 Ingredient Recipes I am currently working on my collection of the Best of the Best state cookbooks by Gwen McKee and Barbara Moseley and am only about 1/4 of the way through the states, mainly collecting those where I have so far lived, or have received as gifts during cookbook swaps. Not even being halfway through the list however finds me wishing for more states in the US besides just 50. I love the concept of a ...

The Recipe Hall of Fame Cookbook (Best of the Best) 12 reviews
Quail Ridge Press, 1999
Really Great Cookbook!!! I received this cookbook as a wedding gift, and I think it has been the one thing I have used over and over. I have yet to make a recipe from this cookbook that is "average." If you make nothing else, the Applebarn Fresh Apple Cake is worth the price of this book. I need to buy a second volume because the original is wearing out!

Quail Ridge Press, 1986
Best book ever for first time gumbo makers--you'll be back! The first time I ever made gumbo from this book, it was a raving success. I didn;t think I was ever going to try this marvelous New Orleans recipe when I tasted it there. The opening chapter called step-by-step to great gumbo is exactly that and led me through it. Now I feel comfortable trying all sorts of gumbos and dazzling my guests. Great book

Best of the Best from Bell's Best Cookbook: The Most Popular Recipes from the Four Classic Bell's Best ... 5 reviews Quail Ridge Press
Quail Ridge Press, 2006
Hope it's as good as the original Bell's Best! I'm ordering this now -- I can't wait! The original Bell's Best cookbook from Jackson, MS that my mom still uses lies in loose pages in a kitchen drawer. Some of its food-spattered pages are still held together with a ragged duct-tape binding; others are tucked into plastic bags or wrapped with a rubber band. We don't care. We still keep going back to it, more than any other cookbook. Ever.

Quail Ridge Press, 1991
Delicious, authentic recipes; clear instructions. Absolutely the best Louisiana cookbook out there! As a native of south Louisiana, I've never found a Louisiana cookbook that has truly authentic dishes--like the ones I grew up with--but this one does. And every recipe I've tried from this book has been delicious. It's not a large book, but EVERY recipe is worth making.

Great Buy! I bought this as a gift, but on looking at the recipes before wrapping it, I ended up copying numerous recipes myself. The Glazed Fresh Apple Cookies are outrageously yummy! Also, most recipes don't require many ingredients, and most cooks have the ingredients right on their shelves already.
