Hawaii
The text and photography is by Robert Wenkam. Besides the beautiful photography this book provides an enviromental history and the author's impression of the island and its people. This book has 160 pages with well over a hundred color and black and white photographs. It is good for informative reading or just for glancing at the lovely photographs. It really makes you want to book a trip to ...
Myths and Enchantment Tales

You'll be enchanted too!
Myths and Enchantment Tales was the first book of mythology I ever read. I was in kindergarten or first grade, and I discovered the battered old volume in a corner of the school library. I loved it; henceforth, I viewed Greek myths as fairy tales, and I developed a zest for legends that helped me rank 5th place in the Alabama Latin Convention's mythology trivia competition, and 2nd place on ...
The Cowboy Encyclopedia: The Old and the New West from the Open Range to the Dude Ranch

Absolutely fascinating
Have you ever wondered what the old Westerners meant when they used words like "rustling," "handle," or "blind trap?" This fascinating book has plenty of words like these, but it is not merely a dictionary. It is filled with history and lore that may keep you browsing for hours if you have even the slightest interest in the Old West, or in American culture in general. While somewhat dated ...

wonderful photos
After seeing these photos, I'm further inspired to visit all the national parks! The essays were unnecessary and took space away from additional photos.

Marguerite Henry's best book ever!
This is a darling story of two foals and their experiences with humans and other horses in the herd. Rudish's drawings are some of his best. I found this book at a library years ago and would love to own it! Anyone who owns this book has a real treasure!
Introductory Psychology Through Science Fiction

Good science fiction stories with psychology themes
This book was used as a textbook for an Introductory Psychology course I took in 1975. In spite of the fact that it was written as a textbook, it is an excellent read for short stories. Luckily, I happen to like the science fiction genre, and found almost all of the chapters (stories?) very well written. I can't remember discussing this book in class, although I'm sure it must have been included. ...

Goode's Atlas (21st Edition)
The purchased item was delivered several days before the early arrival date listed in the order confirmation notice. The item was found to be in the condition as stated in the sales listing. The only "downside" to this transaction was the fact that the item could have been packaged in a more substantial manner.

Perfect Reference
This atlas is a perfect reference. Updated and easy to use with all information needed to be informed about country locations. It's lean, I like that it doesn't take up much space. I was very pleased when I received it.

Strauss was a scholar
Leo Strauss once wrote that he knew he was only a scholar, but that most who call themselves philosophers are mere scholars at best. Strauss believed that original thought could become lost for centuries, waiting for rediscovery by true philosophers and scholars; and therefore, Strauss through his books provided a key to other scholars and would-be philosophers so that original philosophical ...

A Must Have for French History Students
Gordon Wright's "France In Modern Times" is an all-encompassing book about French history from the start of the 1789 Revolution to contemporary times. This book has been required reading in all of my French history classes and with good reason: it clearly defines the main themes of French history in language that everyone can understand. In other words, one does not have to be a professional ...

A continuing resource for me
Campbell & Stanley was a key resource when I was in graduate school. It was almost "Scripture" for those of us taking research methods courses. Even after all these years, I still consult this volume when I teach a course on research methods, to clarify questions about validity and so on. This is a brief volume, with only 71 pages of text. But an awful lot of useful information is crammed into ...

Great Military History makes you proud to be an American
I have rarely enjoyed a book so much. It is thoroughly engrossing, illuminating us to so many aspects of the European Theater, many of the great men of the war, and general command principles. Bradley recounts, in some detail, battle by battle the move through Africa, Sicily, France and Germany. His account seems straightforward and humble, tackling failures of Monty (including Market ...

FIRST APPEARENCE OF "THE SMALLEST DRAGONBOY" BY ANNE McCAFFREY!
THIS is a 1973 CLASSIC! This is a collection that Roger Elwood supervised. Not ONLY is it the first appearance of the afore mentioned "THE SMALLEST DRAGONBOY", but it also contains an introduction by Theodore Sturgeon. The other authors represented in this book are :" Arthur Tofte, Claire Edwin Street, David H. Charney, Raymond F. Jones, Nick Boles and Terry & Carol Carr". Yes, this was aimed at ...

The great Hambletonian!
One Man's Horse is a story within a story. It is about a sick boy who picks up a book and begins to read it. The book is about Hambletonian, the foundation sire of the standardbred. This is his story of how he went from an ordinary colt to a champion harness racer. Henry tells an extrordinary story. I would recomend any of her books to a horse lover.
