The beautiful illustrations by Leonard Filgate are some of the most professional, artistic work available in children's picture books today! They also express a wide range of human emotions through the animals' gestures which my children could easily understand. Rip Sqeak and His Friends are their "newest best friends". This beginners reading book is incredible. The artist couple who created this and the three books for older children are wonderfully talented in their writing and especially their artwork. I bought the hardback version of this book and it exceeded my expectations. The poem is beautiful and sets the stage for the rest of the book, which is wordless. Each page gives the child a lot to think about and to imagine the flow of the story. I have 2 1/2 year old twins and they both really enjoy this book.
