Pig in the Pond4 reviews
Martin Waddell

Retailer-exclusive titles, 2005

A rip roaring tale of a hot summer day!
Waddell captures the feeling of a hot afternoon in his humerous story "Pig in a Pond." While watching the ducks splash in the farm yard pond, the pig becomes more and more hot, more and more furstrated, because who ever heard of a "Pig in a Pond"? Finally, he give into temptation and dives in! When the farmer sees this, he decides its not a bad idea and joins the animals on his farm for a ...

T'ai Chi Mind and Body3 reviews
Tricia Yu

Retailer-exclusive titles, 2003

A Beautiful Book with Clear Instructional Format
I have browsed through a number of T'ai Chi instructional books, but none compare to the quality of this one. Every movement of the T'ai Chi form is clearly demonstrated with numerous, full-body photographs and detailed written instructions. Correlations are also given between the form's movements and a section of "basic moves" which help train the basic movement patterns of T'ai Chi. I love ...

Dr. Seuss

The book that influenced our culture!
Times have changed. Little kids left home alone and shouldn't they have been told by their parents not to let anyone in? This is the book that must of led to a lot of wild house parties and may have spawned many party while your parents are away flicks (Risky Business, etc). A good fun read with a lilting cadence!

Manchester: A Miscellany (Did You Know?)1 review
Francis Frith, Julia Skinner

Retailer-exclusive titles, 2006

Terrific trivia
This little 53-page delight is filled with useless details that are quite interesting, nonetheless. Well, maybe not useless if you live in Manchester. For example, who would have guessed that Manchester lies on the site of the Roman Mamicium--a military camp constructed by the legions of Agricola on the River Irwell in 79 C.E., within a decade after the destruction of Jerusalem's Second Temple. ...

The Making of " Star Wars " : The Definitive Story Behind the Original Film62 reviews
J.W. Rinzler

The best and most comprehensive making of EVER
I read many books about special effects and films. I'm a huge fan of the Star Wars franchises (at least until the most recent cartoon). THIS ONE IS PERFECT!!! So many detailed descriptions of the evolution from idea to story to script to shooting. An incredible level of detail. So many pictures, storyboards, illustrations, and documents. This is the first time I've picked up such a huge and ...

Fun for the kids and the parents!
You can't help but love reading this book aloud to your little one! The rhymes, illustrations, and humor can't be beat. And there's something irresistible about "Fix it Duck!" My two year old always reaches for this book and when we get to a job for "Fix it Duck", he pumps his fist emphatically while singing "Fix it Duck!". I highly recommend this book, as well as Duck's other board book - Duck ...

Straight on Till Morning1 review
Lynne Barrett-Lee

Retailer-exclusive titles, 2006

straight on till morning
This book was recommended by a friend from England, and I really enjoyed it. I read it in one day and laughed out loud in several places. The main character, Sally, is funny and oddly moving at the same time. The narrative is crisp and punchy and kept really lively by an amazing cast of minor characters. Definitely worth a read!

The Next Accident64 reviews
Lisa Gardner

Retailer-exclusive titles, 2006

Lisa Gardner
I discovered LIsa Gardner in Aug. I saw her book and the summary sounded interesting. The Next Accident was fantastic. I had trouble putting it down. The characters are great and the action is non-stop. I must add that in the past month I have purchased and read all of her books. ALL of them. Each was as fantastic as the first. I highly recommend.

The Thieves of Ostia22 reviews
Caroline Lawrence

An Engaging Mystery
I came upon the Roman Mystery series by chance and since I enjoy novels set in Roman times I investigated a bit further, and after visiting Caroline Lawrence's web site I decided to read the series (now up to 17 books). I enjoy historical novels about Rome and have read several, including those of Robert Harris, but I have not read any mystery books before. The Roman Mysteries is intended for ...

A great book to read with your kids

Erasure38 reviews
Percival Everett

Retailer-exclusive titles, 2006

An amazing work of literary criticism
I have got to think that Everett cringed when the New York Times Book Review praised his book as having addressed "the highly charged issue of being 'black enough' in America." As Monk says in the beginning of his story, race out of context is an empty concept, as is gender. Throughout this book Everett spoke directly to me (a fairly old, white woman) as if the he were my alter ego. ...

Flanimals15 reviews
Ricky Gervais

I LOVE IT, but...
First off, let me start by saying that I love this book. It's cute, funny, gross, and just an all around good time. I'm not going to sit here and complain like some others have that this is for kids and feel duped. No, because I think it is great for adults. However, many people on here have stated that this book is overwelmingly a kids book. I disagree, and here is why. There is a lot ...

East German Agent Stranded in US when Wall Comes Down
This is a believable and compelling story about the violent and dangerous life of East German agents, recruited under pressure; threatened and beaten to carry out their assignments. The assignment of this guy is to spy on a friend, and later to be a courier in disguise in Newport, R.I. (smuggling things to and from a Russian submarine). This is where he is when the Wall comes down and has to ...

The Magical Worlds of Harry Potter: A Treasury of Myths, Legends and Fascinating Facts80 reviews
David Colbert

Retailer-exclusive titles, 2005

Informative
This book was fairly informative and answered as well as brought up numerous questions. Of course, some of these answers can be found off the internet, this book provides historical references which greatly aid in furthering the knowledge of the entire Harry Potter Series. I hope that a newer and even more updated version becomes available so that some other questions could be answered.
