A worthy continuation of a great series
This book is the cause of great tiredness today - I tried to stop reading it at 11pm last night when wanting to go to sleep but it had become so exciting that I couldn't sleep and had to pick it up again, finally finishing it at 1am. Book 4 of this excellent series is slightly different in that some time has passed since the end of book 3, rather than it being a non-stop roller-coaster ride of ...

Now that you're hooked on Eileanan...
In this second book, Isabeau takes a bit of a back seat, recovering from her ordeal in delivering the talisman, and learning humility and obedience as a servant in the Righ's palace. There is a shift of interest to her twin sister, Iseult, whom Meghan discovered when she visited the Dragons. Iseult, raised by her faery kin on the icy Spine of the World, seems as different from Isabeau as night ...

Wen Spencer just keeps getting better....
Three "Ukiah Oregon" books ago, Wen Spencer was a new novelist with an engaging character and some new novelist faux pas under her belt. I still read "Alien Taste" in one sitting and went out and got the next two books. "Bitter Water" is the toughest read of the group, but every one of them is enjoyable and pulls you through the story. The first thing I will say about Book Four is you don't ...

Unite to save this author!
I was completely surprised at how good this book was, the publisher write up does not nearly describe the scope of this book. I read it in a day and can't wait to start the next one. Here is where the tragedy starts. Due to what the publisher thinks are low sales numbers Ms. Freeman's third book in this series has been put on hold until further notice!!! I urge anyone who has read this book ...

I just got these books and read them back to back. What a great series! Plot driven, emotionally rounded and 3D characters. I was absolutely immersed by page 3 and now I am waiting for more! Kym

"Tell Her, To Put This With My Heart..."
"The Beast Within" is the novelisation of the best-selling computer game by Jane Jenson, the sequel to "Sins of the Fathers" (also written in book-form), but you do not need to play the games nor read the previous book in order to enjoy and get the full benefit from "The Beast Within". In "The Sins of the Fathers" Gabriel Knight became aware of his heritage as the German "Schattenjager" ...

The Last One?
I have read the entire saga for the second time from book one to book eight. For little more than a week I left Earth and went to Forstchen's world to live his characters' agonies and triumphs, to worry about the Republic, the Rus, the Roum, the Chin, even the Cartha and, yes, the Tugars, with Muzta leading them as best as he could. But, most of all, I went back to see the Yankees once more ...

Terrifying, Memorable, and Unique
Level 7 represents the journal of Officer X-127, a member of an elite Armed Forces unit. X-127 has been ordered to the bottom-most layer (level 7) of a highly secure facility, where he is ordered to set off a massive nuclear attack. The facility is a city unto itself, four thousand feet underground and fully prepared to withstand a direct attack and the resulting radiation for many decades. ...

the very best
Carol Berg, in my humble opinion, is the very best living writer of "dependable" fantasy...i.e. nothing that offends my sensibilities, but transports me to a place I'd like to be, filled with people I'd like to know. While I consider each of her books I've had the privilege to read as safe territory, her characters are anything but safe, each generally beat to a pulp one or more times in each ...

BattleTech Saga: Lethal Heritage, Blood of Kerensky Book One
Lethal Heritage, being the fourth BattleTech book I have read, is a solid introduction to the Blood of Kerensky trilogy. I recommend reading the Warrior trilogy before delving into the Blood of Kerensky, for a few choice reasons. First of all, the Warrior trilogy gives you a chance to familiarize yourself with Stackpole's writing style. In addition, the Warrior trilogy provides you with the ...

Back at last! Move aside, Dan Brown...
In the early 1980's, I lived in San Francisco. I knew actual members of the OTO, mysterious avant garde musicians, punk rockers and performance artists, bicycle messengers, typesetters, cabinet makers and optical laser artists. My life was going to hell on drugs and alcohol. I regret not a moment of it, but several things got me through the bad time. One was a book by Robert Anton Wilson ...

GREAT STORY
Very original, highly entertaining, hilariously funny in a couple of places, with a bittersweet twist at the end. This is an adult oriented novel about a young man growing up in early Nordic society. It touches on adventure, politics, friendship, spirituality and human nature. The editing could have been better, but it's still a great read. I wish there were a sequel.
