The Lodge of the Lynx (The Adept, Book 2)10 reviews
Katherine Kurtz, Deborah Turner Harris

Severn House Pub Ltd, 1993

Great occult mystery
I love occult fiction and a friend recommended the Adept series to me because he knew I liked Dion Fortune's fiction. Unlike Fortune's fiction, this novel won't gift you with verses for your rituals, but it certainly captures the feeling of the astral realms and the battle of good versus evil. Okay, so the hero is wealthy and lives a life of luxury we can only imagine, but, hey, this is a ...

The Mediterranean Caper43 reviews
Clive Cussler

Severn House Pub Ltd, 1986

Excellent Book!
Nobody writes em like Clive Cussler...sort of like James Bond meets Jacque Cousteau. Excellent book for history and science lovers...and there is always a twist...can you spot Clive Cussler's character in the book? I love that part...he always inserts himself into his work. I know of no other author who does that. Hope you enjoy the read! This is my 2nd time around :o)

Something Wonderful151 reviews
Judith McNaught

Severn House Pub Ltd, 1990

Absolutely could not put it down
McNaught has a knack for making you fall in love with her characters. I feel as though I know them so well and I become so engaged with her books for that reason...I become emotionally invested in the outcome of the characters. My only complaint about this one is that the ending was too abrupt. After going through so many struggles for so long, it just ended too quickly. But I still ...

Stinger48 reviews
Robert R. McCammon

Severn House Pub Ltd, 1994

"Predator" + "Tremors" + a little "West Side Story" = "Stinger"
First and foremost, Robert McCammon is a terrific horror writer who has yet to write a weak book in this reviewer's humble opinion. The only problem with McCammon is that he doesn't write enough books. With that being said, let me cover a little about this gem of a horror ride. "Stinger" hits the ground running with a story that starts out about rival gangs pitted against each other in the ...

Flinx in Flux7 reviews
Alan Dean Foster

Severn House Pub Ltd, 1989

Fun Read
I just finished re-reading the book again for the umpteenth time. As always it was a great read, I really enjoy the Flinx series in the common wealth. Flinx is such an interesting character to watch develop. Just a note as to the comments below that the author is not going to be writing any more Flinx novels, that is untrue. Another one will be out latter this year(2000), or early next (It is ...

Whitney, My Love410 reviews
Judith McNaught

Severn House Pub Ltd, 1989

Its make you laugh and cry at the same time.
This is my all time favorite book. I own every McNaught, Balogh, Garwood, and Dodd book, but I have to admit that Judith McNaught is my all time favorite writer. Whitney, My Love is the first book I've ever read of hers. Her writing style is absolutely captivating. It made my laugh with joy- my heart clench with sorrow. I've read many historical romances, and I can say that not many, if any at ...

The first 'Vicky Bliss' mystery
This is the introductory book of the Vicky Bliss series. Dr Bliss is an art historian teaching in a small midwestern college. She has decided never to marry since she has discovered that the only thing that intimidates most men more than a tall woman is a smart tall woman and Vicky is both. Another member of the faculty, Tony, is also tall and smart and quite taken with Vicky. The two stumble ...

As always, getting into a new book is slow going...when I started this book, I didn't think I was going to be able to really "get into it" after the first few pages....WOW was I wrong! This book is so fully of passion, drama, humor...I couldn't put it down. Fires of Winter61 reviews
Johanna Lindsey

Medieval at it's best!
This book is hands down the best medieval romance I have ever read! Lady Brenna was abducted from her country by viking invaders. She was given to Garrick Hardard by his farther to be his slave. Garrick who hates women because his past love chose A rich fat merchant to marry instead of him, wants nothing to do with her. Brenna only has one mission and that's to kill Garrick's farther for the ...

Centaur Aisle32 reviews
Piers Anthony

Severn House Pub Ltd, 1997

Centaur Aisle is a great book.
I highly recommend this book! I have read most of the Xanth Series by Mr. Anthony and would recommend it as a necesary step in the evolution of Xanth and the understanding of the land and its people. These are the key characters who set the stage for all of the future books. The twists in the plot and the fun of what Magic (albeit funny Magic) might be like in Mundania are hilariously, exotically ...

The Renegades1 review
Clive Egleton

Severn House Pub Ltd, 2005

exhilarating Ashton anti-terrorism thriller
In London in a chic Italian restaurant, someone enters and opens fire; a massacre occurs. Among the dead is a mid level British SIS intelligence agent. The SIS encourages the local police to think it is a drug deal gone bad with collateral damage as they want the incident buried immediately. While the police seem to be willing to accept the SIS explanation of the bloody event, internal ...

Man of My Dreams73 reviews
Johanna Lindsey

Severn House Pub Ltd, 1999

fun story w/ great dialogue
I've always been a sucker for the stories where someone disembles, and here is a good one. Though not my favorite, I will probably still reread it because the interactions between Megan and Devlin were so much fun to read. There was definitely a lot of tension between them which lead to multiple funny lines and moments that made me laugh outloud. Though I do think it dragged once they decided ...

The Blood of Roses30 reviews
Marsha Canham

Severn House Pub Ltd, 1991

Beautifully Romantic, but also Devastatingly Tragic
If you like an ending where every character lives happily ever after, "The Blood of Roses" is not for you. But if you like historical romances that follow true history, this book will knock you off your chair. FIRST, A WARNING: This book is the sequel to The Pride of Lions. If you have not read "The Pride" yet, don't read "The Blood of Roses" or even the rest of this review yet. Go right ...

Karen Robards

THE GREATEST LOVE STORY I'VE EVER READ!!
This was my second book by Karen Robards (the first being Paradise County) and I can already say, it will be my favorite! A friend recommended this to me and she was absolutely right in doing so! The story of Anna and Julian left me completely dazzled. It usually takes me a few weeks to read a novel of this size, solely due to time issues; but I finished this one in exactly 3 days!! I could ...

It kept me on the edge of my seat
This was an exciting, action-packed story that held me captivated until the mystery was resolved in the end. I have a strong appreciation for the descriptive style of writing Sandra Brown used in this story, which added greatly to my enjoyment of the book! Well-done!

Devil-May-Care14 reviews
Elizabeth Peters

Severn House Pub Ltd, 1996

Atmostpheric and Fun
I've read this book several times. I love coming back to it after a couple of years and enjoying it all over again. The best thing about Elizabeth Peters/B Michaels is that she creates a cozy atmostphere, with every day occurences (such as eating lunch...sleeping...,) yet, there are not so every day occurences thrown in - ghosts, etc. It makes it feel like is business as usual to suspect that ...
