Still a Classic and Unforgettable Tale!
Go Ask Alice was one of those novels that I grew up with remembering quite clearly. As a child who loved to read, Go Ask Alice was one of the best pre-teen novels of my generation. Of course, it's been 20 years since I last picked up the book but I still remember it as it was yesterday. A young girl who becomes addicted to drugs and the fall of her life afterwards. I think all children over ten ...

A knockout coda
The uglies series was one of the best fantasy trilogies of the new millennium, and the follow-up Extras does anything but disappoint. This book stars newcomer Aya instead of previous protagonist, Tally Youngblood. However Tally lovers don't fret, for this new world has far from forgotten the wonderful woman. Any lives in a society in Japan that revolves around one thing, popularity. Her life ...

What a use of voice!
As a high school teacher, I see students come through obviously strung out 90% of their lives. It is unfortunate, and as much as we try to help, we also feel powerless in the face of drug addiction. Just as I never wanted to listen to the advice from adults when I was a teen, it is so frustrating to be that voice to my students. I relate stories of friends, families, classmates... but nothing ...

Impulse by Ellen Hopkins
A friend of mine owned this book first and lent it to me a couple weeks ago. I actually just finished it today. This is definitely one of the best books I have ever read. Every aspect of this book is pretty much flawless. This book is so good I caught myself reading it for hours at a time...and I never read. It's just that good. I will absolutely be buying this book for myself...I hate to see it ...

Another Masterpiece that hooks you until the end!
Ellen Hopkins has yet again created another masterpiece that is both touching and thrilling. This book creates images of a story that people can relate to and see happening in our every day lives. It takes place in a Mormon family where a woman's only role is to have as many children as she can (mostly boys), take care of them and please her husband - even if it means getting beaten! In ...

A Fantastic Journey We All Must Face
I just stumbled upon this book and I was absolutely blown away as I had never heard of this book before. I even got my father to read it and he loved it. This is a book for all ages and something for everyone to love and appreciate.

Great Book. Fast Read
Amazing book for me personally. The story line is a bit slow at the start, but once you get about 50 pages in you'll be hooked! I sat down and read this book in 2 hours. I loved it. Any teen who's been in a relationship will be able to relate to this book. It made me laugh, cry, and look at myself in a different light. Most teen girls can probably relate to the lead character Tess, her humor is ...

The Compulsive Reader's Reviews
Kate's sophomore year hasn't been the best so far. Her only close friend has stopped speaking her after she lost 90 pounds and made friends with the popular crowd. Her father quits his job to sell cheesy, overpriced vitamins, and money is so tight that her wealthy nightmare of a grandmother moves in, causing even more tension at home. Her whole life seems to be falling apart around her, but ...

This is an absoloute must-have
I will begin by saying simply: this book took me by surprise, and I mean that in a very good way. The two books before it had been very good, yes, and I was expecting relatively the same quality out of this one. However, after I had finished the first few chapters, I knew that this book was (and ths might sound cheesy) different; and I'm quite serious about that. It literally took me by ...

Why must the good die young!
It is all my fault! I believe Tears of a Tiger is the saddest book I have ever read. This is the first Sharon M. Draper book I have read and I think it is my favorite! This is a modern day story in the town of Hazelwood. The Hazelwood High School basketball team is in a car crash and the star center, Robbie Washington was tragically killed at the age of seventeen (Andy, B.J., and Tyrone ...

A First Holocaust Book for the Teen Reader
"I Have Lived A Thousand Years" is a personal and gut-wrenching story of how a 13-year old girl survived the German Holocaust in the death camp of Auschwitz. The book is fairly short with short chapters. It is obviously written for adolescent readers, but can certainly be appreciated by adults as well. This is a very good first book for teens to learn about the Holocaust. It is written in the ...

A Dangerous Story
Kaye has always been different. She's Japanese and a natural blond. She stopped going to school when she was fourteen because her musician mother kept them moving around. But what made the other kids really back away were the stories about her friends Gristle, Spike, and Lutie-loo. Everyone thought they were imaginary because no one besides Kaye could see these creatures. That's because Kaye's ...

Heartbreaking and Heartwarming Realism
This book is written for young adults, but I recently read it again as a mother. Now that I have those fiercely protective instincts for my children, the story seems even more heartbreaking. Darcy is exactly the kind of heroine I like: insightful, resourceful, determined, and sympathetic--a child shouldering an adult's responsibilities and doing so with aplomb.

Unique, Amazing, Fascinating, Raw
An amazing and unique modern day fairy tale. For anyone who loves fantasy or fairy stories, or books about strong women, i would suggest. Think "the weetzie bat books" and make it more "today" (the main girl is prone to think of video games often, etc), sexier, more raw, more dangerous, and add some serious girl toughness. think tank girl living underground in the tunnels in nyc and battling ...

Love it.
i've read this book so many times, the pages are all dog-eared and i still love it too pieces. Courtney and Jordan are so great together and they just can't see that, it took them three whole days, jam-packed with drama and lies, to figure out what they have is so, ultimately, perfect, and they belong together. This book is the best and i recommend you read it.
