A Guide for Using Charley Skedaddle in the Classroom31 reviews
ANGELA JONES

Teacher Created Resources, 1996

How can this be out of print???
My family listened to this book on tape and it was wonderful! The story is touching and funny. It describes different American cultures at the time of the Civil War and the Battle of the Wilderness. I highly recommend this coming-of-age tale about the relationship between a boy who goes AWOL from the Union Army and the old southern woman who hides him.

Easy, Simply Guide for Teachers
There are several reading strategies and activities to motivate your readers in this guide book. I think it is very useful for those who may be teaching this novel for the first time and a new tool to get a new perspective on the novel for seasoned educators. A Guide for Using Island of the Blue Dolphins in the Classroom601 reviews
PHILIP DENNY

Teacher Created Resources, 1992

A Warm Novel
I read Island of The Blue Dolphins sometime before Christmas this year. It was a pleasure to read--it was simple, brief, and the characters were fresh and realistic. O' Dell used very descriptive writing, nevertheless, it did not go to where it is tedious to read because of the overload of words. If you do not like novels without much action besides attacks with sea critters I would not ...

An Absolute Treasure!
I can't believe I missed reading this growing up. My daughter and I just read this together. It was wonderful, and we both loved it. She likes to read books over and over, and I think she will appreciate reading this even more when she gets a little older. She loved the idea of secrets, twins, and the transformation of Mary. Having not had similar experiences to the characters in the books, ...

Informal Reading Assessments by Dr. Fry4 reviews
DR. ED FRY, Daphne Ransom

Teacher Created Resources, 2001

Another Hit By Dr. Fry!
I'm a long-time fan of the Dr. Fry series of books. Not every book is particularly useful for the classroom teacher, but this book is definitely a must-have! I made copies of his informal tests right before report card time, and it was a *huge* help having these papers to show the parents. I can finally give concrete evidence that no, little Johnny *cannot* read War and Peace! :-) Seriously, as ...

A Guide for Using The Phantom Tollbooth in the Classroom2 reviews
Kathleen L. Bulloch

Teacher Created Resources, 1998

La Caseta Mágica/The Phantom Tollbooth
I loved the movie when I was a child in the seventies. Never forgot it. When I started teaching children during my late thirties (Spanish/English 4th graders), I thought of this story again. Bought the book, found the VHS and bought the teacher's manual. In 2000, it didn't work very well because my group of students didn't have enough English to enjoy the word play. Now that I have the book ...

Masterpiece of the Month4 reviews
JENNIFER THOMAS

Teacher Created Resources, 1998

Agreeing with the reviews as far
A great book, pictures would have made it perfect. Her "Month by Month Masterpeices" sounds like it has addressed this issue, with 10 poster sized pictures. Do not be put off by Pollack's drip paintings being 1st or 2nd style presented, if you can not handle the thought of a mess, move to the next one.

PATSY CAREY

Charlotte's Web
This literature unit was a great resource in teaching about the book. I used this book to teach my second grade students. The set up of lessons made my life easy. I love the way they broke the book up into chapters and already had vocabulary lists made. The book allowed for a very integrated curriculum. I would definitely recommend this resource to any teacher.
