Pasta (Great Taste, Low Fat)2 reviews
Sandra Rose Gluck

Time-Life Books, 1995

This series turned me into someone who likes to cook!
The "Great Taste, Low Fat" series is fabulous -- this book as well as the two others I've purchased and dog-eared. The pasta dishes are excellent. The recipes are loaded with yummy, healthy, fresh ingredients. But the recipes are also very practical -- e.g., when a recipe calls for beans, it specifies the canned variety. Many recipes start with similar steps so that over time I've gotten ...

Debbi Fields

Time-Life Books, 1999

Best cookie cookbook I've ever found.
If you are considering Mrs. Field's Cookie Book, you won't be disappointed. I've used the recipes from this cookie cook book for at least 10 years, now, and everyone who has ever tried one of my cookies says that they are absolutely wonderful! In a previous review, the reviewer stated that Mrs. Fields recommends baking times that are too long. This isn't true. She uses lower oven temps in ...

The Mayo Clinic Williams-Sonoma Cookbook: Simple Solutions for Eating Well8 reviews
John Phillip Carroll

Time-Life Books, 2001

Fantastic healthy recipes...but watch that pepper!
The Mayo Clinic Cookbook was given to me as a gift from a friend who also loved it. The recipes have comprehensive nutrition analyses, and a color picture of every dish showing the individual portion size. This is very helpful, you can browse through and see what you're in the mood for. Their preparation times don't seem to correspond to a home kitchen, I wouldn't rely on them. The recipes are ...

Main - Dish Salads (Great Taste, Low Fat)2 reviews

Time-Life Books, 1997

Introducing the English to American Salads
I am an American living in England and the one food I miss (when the sun is shining) is a delicious, contemporary American salad. I simply open up my Main-Dish Salads cookbook and create a masterpiece in a matter of minutes. I have tried several of the recipes and every one of them is superb. The English and American friends that have had the good fortune to try "Texas Barbecued Beef Salad" or ...

Grilling (Williams-Sonoma Kitchen Library)12 reviews
John Phillip Carroll

Time-Life Books, 1992

LOVE the Williams-Sonoma Series!
This is a truely wonderful addition to any cookbook collection. Unlike most cookbooks that require you to spend a lot of money buying ingredients you most probably will only use once, these recipes mostly require olive oil, garlic, onions, peppers, the basic seasonings (e.g., oregano, salt, black or lemon pepper, etc.), and occasionally one more fancy addition (making the dishes MUCH less ...

The Pritikin Principle: The Calorie Density Solution9 reviews
Robert Pritikin

Time-Life Books, 2000

Most important diet book ever written
This is quite simply the most important diet book ever written. Pritikin's "Calorie Density" theory is the true explanation of weight gain and loss. Other diets succeed or fail depending on whether they are low calorie density, which is why Atkins had to come up with such complicated good carb, bad carb logic on his maintenance diets. The theory is rather simple: people tend to eat the same ...

Wonderful book....
Nothing fascinates the student of American history quite like the Civil War and this book, with it's beautiful illustrations and illuminating essays, does much to bolster that fascination.
