Myth-O-Mania: Say Cheese, Medusa! - Book #3 (Myth-O-Mania)4 reviews
Kate McMullan

Volo, 2002

A different perspective on popular myths which really rings
Kate McMullan has created an excellent twist on traditional myth telling. I bought these books for my older two children (ages 9 & 7) and found them not only funny, but extremely eye opening and appropriate for adults as well. They should really be read in tandem with Bullfinch's anthologies in any mythology class, as it offers a view from the "other" side, which is rarely, if ever, explored. ...

Philosophy Rocks!7 reviews
Stephen Law

Volo, 2002

Great intro for kids 9 and older...
This is a top-notch philosophy intro book for kids. My 9 year old just loves it. The book introduces children to ethics (via animal rights), philosophy of mind, epistemology, metaphysics ("what is real?"), and other topics covered in academic philosophy. The book uses humor (and humorous sketches) on every page, and lays out the arguments pro and con in a fair way. Highly recommended!

The Book That Made Me A Reader
Back when I was in grammar school (I'm 45 now), my teacher asked me what I would like to read. I had friends who liked Tom Swift and Nancy Drew but I did not have a preference nor a love of reading. She handed me this book and said I would like it. She was absolutely right. I was so wrapped up in it that I read it over one weekend and asked if I could borrow it again. I read the book three times ...

A Lives of the Musicians13 reviews

Volo, 1996

GREAT for kids - first exposure to composers tough for little ones
My daughter's piano teacher gave her the assignment to read about Mozart as she started her first Mozart Minuet. My daughter was 7 at the time, and although she was reading at above 3rd grade level, I was shocked to find that there was NOTHING available on the internet or in her school library that give her information on composers at HER level. I finally found "Lives of the Musicians" and have ...

Myth-O-Mania: Have a Hot Time, Hades! - Book #1 (Myth-O-Mania)17 reviews
Kate McMullan

Volo, 2002

A charming recasting of Greek myth
Not too long ago Hades--that's His Royal Lowness, Lord of the Dead, King Hades to you--picked up a book on Greek mythology and discovered that his younger brother Zeus had tampered with the Greek myths in order to make himself look good (braggart and liar that Zeus tends to be). In order to set the record straight Hades set to work at once writing his own account of what really happened way back ...

Volo, 2002

Excelent Book!!!!
I thought Keeping Faith was one of the best books out of 1,2,and 3.It was very temting for Josie when all kinds of people want Faith but she just not sure witch person is the one to have her.And its bad enough that she has to leave Hope and Charity the other horses because they have to leave the Riding Stabels. She also has a bad time parting with her horses. Even thought her parents are ...

Myth-O-Mania: Nice Shot, Cupid! - Book #4 (Myth-O-Mania)4 reviews
Kate McMullan

Volo, 2002

Better than the original myth
I'm a big fan of greek mythology and this is my favorite story. I've read this book about 14 times and it's still my favorite. The only part I didn't like was when Psyche spent all those years trying to make Aphrodite happy and see Cupid again. She seemed to good for him. I definetely recommend this book, but you should first read the myth Eros (Cupid) and Psyche so you have a better idea ...

So did Melanion(Her most head strong suitor) win the race. Read the book and decide for yourself. This a truly awesome Myth-O-Mania that reveals the power of females in a world where some men think muuuuuch differently(Plus you'll get a ...

Kate McMullan

Volo, 2003

Opening up THIS Pandora's box
Back again is King Hades, to tell you the truth about Greek Myths. This particular book is a deluxe myth(The myth of Prometheus and of Pandora), with more Titans. The story is almost the well known story of Pandora...almost but not quite. The story talks about what it's like to be the only girl in a world full of guys. But the funniest part is what's really in the box!Read and find out, but be ...

Cracked Classics: Crushing on a Capulet - Book #6: Romeo & Juliet (Cracked Classics)1 review
Tony Abbott

Volo, 2003

Crushing on a Capulet
Wow! This story has certainly made an impact on my children. Even at 6 & 8 they came away with a good understanding of what a tragedy is...the style of Shakespeare and the classic quotes from Romeo & Juliet. I even learned more. The jokes made us laugh out loud and yet by the end we had tears in our eyes. I only hope that more will be published on like classics as it was a wonderful way to ...

Last Hope (Horseshoe Trilogies #2)1 review
Lucy Daniels

Volo, 2002

Great story
This was a very good book. The story is of the Grace family trying to find a new home for their horse Hope. Unlike Faith (the horse from the first book), Hope is very average looking if not a bit ugly. Due to her allergies Hope looks terrible and not many people are interested in buying her. After thinking about donating Hope to the local PAWS animal sanctuary the Grace family is contacted by ...

Once met they can't get apart, and the pair soon sparks a chain of events that includes two marriages, an arsonist, and the circus in Florida.
