The New Rules of Marketing and PR: How to Use Social Media, Blogs, News Releases, Online Video, and Viral ...197 reviews
David Meerman Scott

Wiley, 2010

the new rules of marketing & PR
I have been in the marketing and promotions business for the past 23 years and have watched traditional media go from the force of marketing to a part of marketing. Internet and social media have been coming at us so fast it has been hard to evaluate what to grab and what to ignore. David Meerman Scott brought into focus what is most important in growing our business. Mr Scott's roadmap to the ...

Baseball Prospectus 20105 reviews
Baseball Prospectus

Wiley, 2010

The usual good stuff, and this year it has an index!
I'm giving it five stars, but my feelings are mixed. Given how much I look forward to it and how quickly I read it, and given I think it is the best guide out there to players and teams, five stars are merited. But, as always, I wish they took another couple of weeks and gave the book a thorough editing. Although I didn't find any errors as gross as last year's omission of the index, there is ...

Aftershock: Protect Yourself and Profit in the Next Global Financial Meltdown12 reviews
David Wiedemer, Robert Wiedemer, ...

Wiley, 2009

In its field: Outstanding; Outside: Not so good
Although I don't particularly like the way this book is written and disagree with most of the irrelevant asides offered in support of the analyses: I find this to be the most complete and comprehensive analysis of America's ongoing economic problems that I have thus far encountered. In addition: the reasoned deductions which the authors draw from their analyses are far ranging and logical; and, ...

When the Body Says No: Understanding the Stress-Disease Connection9 reviews
Gabor Mate

Wiley, 2003

It's not a self-help book
I agree with the many positive comments made by other reviewers. This is not a self-help book, it's a discussion of the ramifications of stress (as a physiological phenomenon with distinct patterns within the body) for the lay person. The author discusses his experiences and observations with his patients as well offering a highly readable survey of the current research in psychoneuroimmunology. ...

Inbound Marketing: Get Found Using Google, Social Media, and Blogs (The New Rules of Social Media)76 reviews
Brian Halligan, Dharmesh Shah

Wiley, 2009

Inbound Marketing - Old School is not the New School
My Summary: - Outbound marketers are old school (not the cool kind of old school) - Create a lot of content and it must be remarkable. Basically, your content must be the shiznit or nobody will care - **** your website! Blogging is where its at. (To be fair, they just placed more emphasis on blogging). - Always know how your content is doing on the web. In other words, make sure your ...

Exposure Digital Field Guide6 reviews
Alan Hess

Wiley, 2009

highly recommend!
I am professional commercial/fine art photographer, and OH how I wish I had this little gem back when I was starting out. It's got a recipe for everything! That makes getting great shots very simple, way before needing to learn the "theory" behind the settings. My favorite part was Alan's explanations of the LOGIC, that is questions to ask yourself...the order of decisions one must consider ...

J.K. Lasser's Your Income Tax 2010: For Preparing Your 2009 Tax Return16 reviews
J. K. Lasser

Wiley, 2009

Good Book
This book has a LOT of tax information in it, almost TOO much. I do tax returns on the side and use this as my reference guide instead of constantly looking things up on the internet. The explanations and examples are written so that anyone can understand taxes despite their experience.

How to Cook Everything (Completely Revised 10th Anniversary Edition), Completely Revised 10th Anniversary ...84 reviews
Mark Bittman

Wiley, 2008

mark bittman is the best
This is a great book and I gave it five stars HOWEVER it is not the book I needed; it is huge and very complete and would be a perfect first cookbook. I went back and got several of his smaller, more specific book and that is what I needed. Perhaps the picure or description should be more accurate, or perhaps I just missed it. But if you havent discovered Mark Bittman, do so now.

Stop Acting Rich: ...And Start Living Like A Real Millionaire23 reviews
Thomas J. Stanley

Wiley, 2009

Stop Acting Rich
Very well researched book. Didn't like very much author's personal "belief" system he puts in about wealth. It's up to each individual to decide a moral compass about the wealth one builds for oneself.

The Social Media Bible: Tactics, Tools, and Strategies for Business Success14 reviews
Lon Safko, David K. Brake

Wiley, 2009

Social Media Bible: A Great place to Start!
I give The Social Media Bible "5 stars" for these reasons: 1. If you have been looking for a nontechnical compilation of information about social media, The Social Media Bible provides that. 2. If you want a book that offers a context within which you can get an overview of and think about how to use social media, the SMB does that too. 3. If you want a reference volume that you can use as a ...
