Requiem for an Assassin 48 reviews Barry Eisler
Putnam Adult, 2007
Character Reigns with Rain Hilger a CIA operative Rain had crossed in a previous operation holds Dox captive, demanding that Rain complete a series of hits, or his friend dies. Rain realizes he is the intended target and plots his moves to turn the tables.
My first experience with a Barry Eisler novel was a pleasant surprise. In a time when some of my favorite thriller writers are turning to sparse prose; Eisler's John ...

Tripwire (A Jack Reacher Novel) 1 review Lee Child
Bantam Books, 2000
Tripwire I have read 11 of Lee Child's books and I can't wait for the next one to appear. Once you start reading you can't put the book down. My husband is a very slow reader, but not when he is reading Lee Child's books.
I would recommend this to anyone that likes a good mystery, suspense or adventure book.

Lee Child CD Collection: Killing Floor, Die Trying, Tripwire (Jack Reacher) (Jack Reacher) 2 reviews Lee Child
Brilliance Audio on CD, 2005
Lee Child CD Collection1. I first met Jack Reacher listening to the audio version of Lee Child's "Hard Way" and immediately wanted to read or hear more of his books, based on this character. I readily ordered the Lee Child CD Collection 1, happy to learn that such collections existed. As soon as I finish one Reacher novel I'm ready for the next. This character is a likeable loner, ex-military police, a highly ...

Persuader 111 reviews Lee Child
Bantam Press, 2003
Reacher undercover The story starts with Reacher intervening in a kidnapping attempt and mistakenly wounds and kills a local detective. Now what? Well, he can't go to the police with his story since he killed an officer, so he dumps the van he's using, hot-wires a car parked at a mall and goes into hiding. The story develops from there.
I don't know where or how Lee Child comes up with these story lines, but ...

Killing Floor 179 reviews Lee Child
Wheeler Publishing, 1998
Reacher at his best Lee Child`s creation is brilliant for a series of books, the transient Jack Reacher finds himself in tiny Margrave, Georgia, and is almost immediately arrested, if briefly, as a murder suspect. Imagine his surprise when he discovers that one of the victims is his brother, a brilliant U.S. Treasury agent. Reacher himself is no slouch; a former military policeman, he can dispatch villains with an ...

Bad Luck and Trouble 171 reviews
Delacorte Press, 2007
Bad Luck & Trouble by Lee Child One of Lee Child's best Jack Reacher novels is "Bad Luck and Trouble."
The story line grabs you from the first sentence and it's one of those "can't put it down" books. I've enjoyed all of the Jack Reacher novels. He's the guy you want to have on your side; he has his code that he lives by and he will see any situation through to the end, in his own style. If you like Ross McDonald, Robert ...

Tripwire (Jack Reacher) (Jack Reacher) 1 review Lee Child
Brilliance Audio on CD Unabridged, 2007
ABSOLUTELY GREAT TRIPWIRE was great entertainment. I hated to have it come to an end. Going to work at 4:00 a.m., I couldn't wait to get into my car to listen to it. I wanted to just keep driving. It made the drag of going to and from work pleasurable. Thank you JACK REACHER.
Unabridged audio CD books are the only way to go, and Dick Hill is the best. A great feature of a CD over a MP3 is if you get ...

The Hard Way 159 reviews
Delacorte Press, 2006
BACK TO THE BEST REACHER! As a big Reacher fan I struggle to find good books of a similar genre, but if you are the same try the `Soft Target novels by Conrad Jones. They are as good if not better than most. As far as thrillers go this is one of the best Reacher books. The latest Harry Bosch novel Overlook is excellent but too short. Oh well back to looking for a good read again !!

Chasing Darkness: An Elvis Cole Novel (Elvis Cole) 49 reviews Robert Crais
Simon & Schuster, 2008
At long last Elvis is back I love all the Elvis Cole books. This was no exception. His wit and humor interspersed with the action and drama have me flying through the book. I would love to see another book focusing on Joe Pike though. He is one of the most fascinating charcters I have discovered and I always want more of Joe. But overall this was as good as I anticipated.

Lee Child CD Collection 2: Running Blind, Echo Burning, Without Fail (Jack Reacher) 1 review Lee Child
Brilliance Audio on CD, 2007
They are Abridged First off not a fan of abridged books as you lose the depth of what the writer is doing in painting you a mental image. That said this is a great deal for Reacher fans who want a quick listen to three great stories. If you are looking as a first time reader of the Jack Reacher stories, I would recommend the actual books or unabridged versions also available on Amazon. I started with Tripwire and ...

One Shot 126 reviews
Delacorte Press, 2005
One Shot Lee Child is an amazing story-teller of mystery-thrillers that draws in the reader and will not allow you to put them down once you open the covers. Jack Reacher (the main character)is unique. The details and speed in which the plot develops haunts you even when you have finished and put it down. ONE SHOT is true to Child's form. He takes an event that is all too common and devestating for a ...

New Press, 2006
helpful thoughts to separate rhetoric from reality The authors of this timely volume are historians and social scientists with a wide range of expertise and perspective. In light of the current "fashion" of speaking of the United States as "empire," they ask and seek to answer important, clarifying questions about what "empire" really means and how current manifestations of social, political and economic power are similar to or different from ...

Echo Burning 100 reviews Lee Child
Putnam Adult, 2001
Child at his best This one starts slowly, leading up to a firecracker of an ending, typical of Lee Child novels. Jack Reacher, the ex army police officer turned freelance lawman who never hesitates to stick his nose into private business, takes his lively act to Texas, embroiling himself in what starts as a messy domestic dispute before turning far more ominous. The rugged former army cop comes to the aid of a ...

Another Reacher classic Lee Child has taken reacher into another situation not of his own making. H estumbles into a kidnap by accident. Running Blind 121 reviews Lee Child, 2000
Another Child classic As usual Jack Reacher stumbles into a situation that has nothing to do with him, but he is a modern day night in shining armour and he decides to track down the culprits. A series of vitims fall foul of an unknown murderer. The killer's victims have only one thing in common--all of them brought sexual harassment charges against their military superiors and all resigned from the army after winning ...

Without Fail 82 reviews Lee Child
G. P. Putnam's Sons, 2002
How do you keep the most powerful people in the world alive? How do you keep the most powerful people in the world alive? Not only is this a daunting task, it may be impossible. Lee Child's WITHOUT FAIL takes character Jack Reacher to his most challenging task yet - keeping the vice president alive. However, in true Jack Reacher fashion, this isn't about protection, it's about offense--find the killers before they are successful.
Child does a masterful ...
