An essential book for a beginning chef...
...I've referred to this book over the years for technique and authenticity of Italian cooking...it is a wonderful book. I agree that it is on par with Julia Child's French cookbook. I've made many of the recipes and they are fabulous....the poached shrimp, easy and delicious...the grilled shrimp with flavored breadcrumbs is another favorite, the Lemon, garlic & parsley chicken cutlets is ...

If You Must Have Only One Cook Book Then This Must Be It
That's a big statement but I can tell you with all honesty. This is the best cookbook I've ever read, more importantly it is the best cookbook I've ever USED. And, do I use it often, YES! Here Tony Bourdain shines not only as an amusing and talented writer but exposes to us all to the REAL principal behind all great dishes, and not just French food, that good, quality ingredients coupled with ...

MAKE YOUR VEGETABLES SING!
I've been using this cookbook at least 2-4x/week to create healthy and flavorful meals for my whole family, my 11-year old loves these recipes, too, without missing the meat. Also, this book has tons of creative side dishes to create from veggies expanding our menu to include old favorites like Deli Mac Salad and Prospect Park Potato Salad to dressing up home fries with "cheezy Sauce". I love the ...

Creative, easy, delicious!
I haven't made my way through ALL of the recipes in this wonderful cookbook, but am approaching half of them. Every time I've tried one of the recipes I've found them very easy to follow and the results are delightful, delicious every single time. The almond cupcakes, with or without the apricot jam, are a big hit and have been requested many times now. I've also done then with an almond butter ...

Great cookbook if you are looking for tried and true classic American recipes
Wonderful cookbook! I read the reviews and just had to go out and buy it for myself! I've been looking for a cookbook with EVERY classic American comfort food recipe, and this is it! It has everything from Appetizers (Spinach-Artichoke Dip and Deviled Eggs) to Breakfast (Biscuits and Gravy; French Toast and Oatmeal), Main Dishes (Chicken Parmesan, Turkey Tetrazzini, Crown Roast) to Sides (Green ...

An interesting and detailed book. Be advised that one needs to plan ahead before experimenting with this chemistry. The author also advises of that!

Couldn't do without it now.
Vegan Lunch Box really doesn't need yet another stellar review, but it's getting one anyway! This book is full of more than great recipes, it is full of great complete meals, each one balanced and fulfilling. I have only had a chance to try a few of the meals so far, but I don't think I could be without this book now. Everything I have tried tastes great and is easy to make. Now all I need is ...

Perfect Creations Everytime......Almost Foolproof!!
First I will start by saying that I have never followed Cooks Illustrated or understood the belabored recipe-testing involved for this book. I have passed it up many times because the recipes looked too basic, and not gourmet or innovative. Boy, was I wrong! I was lucky to find a copy of this little gem at a discount store at third off the cover price, and it was worth every cent! The detailed ...

Great!
I got this from my brother for my birthday (although at first he refused to get it because he hates when chefs "use their own name in the title of their cookbooks", but I'm so glad he caved.) I've started looking more for cookING books rather than cookbooks, to teach me different techniques around the kitchen and it's really a fun book just to sit down and look through. It includes great ...

Bursting with flavor
This cookbook is amazing. Some of the recipes are so simple you think, "Wait a minute. . . this is a RECIPE? Broil asparagus and drizzle vinagrette over it?" But try it . . . and asparagus never tasted so tartly and meltingly delicious. In every single recipe, the flavor of the vegetable itself is intensified and highlighted. The tomato tart is worth buying the book for all by itself! The ...

Excellent
Many cookbooks contain interesting recipes... but my favorite cookbooks also count as a good read. This one is a new favorite -- my mother was GRITS (Girl Raised In The South), so many of the foods are familiar to me, and I am happy to have more recipes. And I spent a happy afternoon reading, which is always a big plus for me. Great addition to my collection.

Greatest CUBAN HOME COOKING book ever!
After sitting in the bookstore, going over about 10-20 so called Cuban recipe cookbooks, this is the ONE in my kitchen. Both my parents are from Cuba, I was born there as well, so naturally my siblings and I grew up on traditional Cuban recipes. This book is the closest to Mom's cooking I have ever found, and with some help from Mom, these recipes are just like being home. Easy to follow, ...

Informative book for amateurs
This is an informative book that is fairly easy to use. You can search based on what kind of alcohol you have, if you want frozen or mixed drinks, and then just look up the drink (they're all listed in alphabetical order, regardless of what type of drink it is). There are also suggestions on drinks and tipping bartenders. And there's a nice section about wines, too (although I'm not quite sure ...

One of My Favorite Cookbooks
As a dedicated reader of Jan Karon's books, I had to buy Jan Karon's Mitford Cookbook and Kitchen Reader: Recipes from Mitford Cooks, Favorite Tales from Mitford Books (Mitford) as soon as it was available. I am not a cook. I don't know how to throw a meal together for a family, since I am single. But this is a great book for people who are tired of eating the same old thing with the Atkins diet. The recipes are easy and with practice can add flair to your cooking. I particularly like the sections that teach you how to make sauces and spice mixtures

Great well rounded book
I decided to purchase this cookbook after buying a new ice cream machine. After reading the reviews I thought to give it a try. This is a great source for everything related to making your own frozen desserts. The additional sections on toppings etc. was a great bonus. KC
