I Remember
"Do You Remember" really does take you back. It can best be described as a colorful TV collage in book form. From the Hardy Boys and Lawrence Welk, to Monty Hall and the infamous Academy Awards streaker, they're all here to jog some memories. The authors did a nice job of pulling together the expected (i.e. Donny & Marie and All in the Family) as well as the obscure and unexepected (i.e. Mason ...

highly recommended, and highly recommends other books
This book is awesome. I recieved it as a gift with my first feature film coming up (coming from shorts). I went from having a little bit of a clue, to knowing almost every in and out of what I should do, how to do it, and how to get the upper hand in doing it. The author is great. His points are humourous because they are so blunt. He'll add little comments that tell you a ton, and totally ...

deer on the living room table
When I came home there was a dead deer on my living room table (yes I was shocked because it didn't belong there) and my husband was looking at it holding a knife. He didn't look so sure what to do. I got this book from the library which explains in very detailed pictures how to "disect" the animal. It worked so great I bought him the book for xmas and we have used it several times for deer, ...

:)
I've been an avid reader of James' website for the last year of so. I have come to value his reviews over almost everyone elses. He never fails to expose a bad movie and tell exactly why in an intelligent, and sometimes humorous way. I've often been prompted to see a movie that I otherwise would have probably overlooked. James, if you read this, ignore that jerk who gave your book a one star. ...

Dream before the fade to black
Travis Bickle is a social pariah. He can't sleep and needs something to do, so he decides to work the night shift as a New York City cabbie. Travis ruminates (in his journal?) about his difficulties making companionships in his life as well as his dislike for all the filth on the streets. Travis's loneliness, a more concrete manifestation of his alienation problem, is a driving force for his nose ...

Fantastic Script
Sure, if you're not into the film "Goodfellas" that much or if you don't care for screenplays, then chances are that this would be rather worthless to you. Might as well find something else to buy, because this isn't going to do anything for you. But, if you DO love the film and would like to read the screenplay, then this is just the thing for you. Written by Martin Scorsese and Nicholas ...

Easy, but Highly Informative Read
You don't have to have the title of "salesperson" to get a lot out of this book. Anyone who has business development as a part of their job will find the techniques helpful. I'm a woodworker, but I still have to find and win new clients. This book has given me some great ideas that I'm already putting into practice. It also taught me quite a bit about fishing. It's a fast, fun read, but packed ...

The real story
Here is an exciting novel of corporate intrique. Did it happen? Probably. But not all at the same time (like Stephen Wright's restaurant that is "open 24 hours" -- but not all at the same time). I'd love to teach from this book sometime, as it beats even "Barbarians at the Gate" in its detailed discussion of backroom business. Of course, Reel and Route is fiction. Did Barbarians have ...

EXCELLENT BOOK!!! A must have for all parents
What a wonderful book!!! And what a fantastic resource!! I am so glad I found this while my children are still babies. Their father is grateful as well since this book has inspired him to take an active part in reading aloud to them. I do wonder if I read the same book as some others!?!? Trelease isn't against phonics. (He says over and over that he's not suggesting we do away with ...

This is so funny you may laugh yourself unconscious. You may want to check with your doctor first. Composed of several episodes from the Clerks comic book series, Kevin Smith authors some of the most laugh outloud comic adventures I've ever read. an incredibly romantic non-fiction book
Well-written and great fun. You can read it from start to finish, or jump around. I started by reading about movies I'd seen (to see if the author agreed with my opinion of them, and she did), then moved on to the ones I wanted to see. You don't have to be "dating" to enjoy this book -- you can just like romantic movies. Definitely a "keeper." This also makes a great gift.

Interesting way to study leaders
This book is a gem! The author takes a unique approach to studying the overwritten topic of leadership by using scenes and characters from popular movies. For each of the dozen movies, the author identifies leadership traits that the main character symbolizes. (In some cases, I'd seen the movies and could recall the scenes he described. In cases where the movie was unfamiliar, his descriptions ...

Watching movies for Self Improvement works!
This new self-help book is really good with this new method of watching movies combined with exercises in each step to find fulfillment. At the beginning I thought it was about analyzing movies but was pleasently surprised that the method uses the movies to help the reader find answers and create awareness. I did watch a couple of the movies suggested and then followed the exercises and it ...

I so enjoy finding spiritual elements in films, and this book helps immensely in alerting one to points in many films that one might miss. I question the spiritual value in some of the films discussed, but that's all to the good. I use this guide weekly chaeck;ing out the movies on TV, as well as, like other reviewers, taking it with me to the video store or library where I often check out ...

For anyone who loves candid, facinating anecdotes about the way Hollywood used to be....from the stars and directors who were there and made history, this book puts it up front. For instance, I never knew Frank Capra gave Irving Berlin the idea for the musical "Holiday Inn" staring Fred Astaire and Bing Crosby. I always ...

Michael Kaplan has done a very impressive job using 3-D photography in exploring the wild Frank Lloyd Wright on acid exteriors/interiors of Bruce Goff homes. Like the other decade books in this series Film Posters of the 70's is a sensational buy. You could either keep it intact as a collection of posters in a book to show and discuss with friends, or cut the book up and actually have a vast number of posters up on your wall. This book is about a third the size of your standard film poster and most movies are full page colour. Any of them would ...
