Respiratory Physiology: The Essentials (Point (Lippincott Williams & Wilkins)) 20 reviews John B West
Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, 2008
Simple and concise I've read both Nunn and West's respiratory physiology. Although Nunn's has got more detail, I think West's book is written better. Another good supplement for reading respiratory physiology is in Miller's anaesthesia.

Health Educator Publications, 2008
Do Not Overlook This Valuable Guide I used the "Oakes" Clinical Practitioner's Pocket Guide To Respiratory Care on my first day of clinicals. This guide is fantastic. Full of valuable, pertinent information and is easy to carry with me. I highly recommend this product to everyone in the respiratory field. I use this guide in clinicals, home, everywhere. Why look through a magazine while sitting in a waiting room when you can read ...

Respiratory Disease: A Case Study Approach to Patient Care 3 reviews Robert L. Wilkins
F A Davis Co, 2006
Clear explanations of disease processes I am a Respiratory Therapy student and I have found this book very helpful. Each chapter presents a specific disease and starts with a full description of that disease process which is then followed by a case study. The reader is provided with information about the "patient" and is then asked questions. There are answers to those questions immediately following. This book has really helped ...

Mosby's PDQ for Respiratory Care 9 reviews Helen Schaar Corning RRT
Mosby, 2009
Lightening fast referencing... A couple of us got this for our first clinic rotations in RT school, our clinic instructors and floor RTs we worked with all had them by the end of our semester at one hospital. It's the best out there. The "Oakes" pocket guides where required for clinics at the time, the PDQ has since replaced it. The spiral gets hooked on scrub seams, I prefer the sturdiness to the sticky Oakes binder pages.

Mosby's Respiratory Care Equipment 6 reviews J. M. Cairo PhD RRT FAARC, Susan P. Pilbeam MS RRT FAARC
Mosby, 2009
definetely equipment-oriented Fabulous book and one of very few that goes in-depth about specific ventilators, including home-care, in-hospital adult ventilators, baby ventilators, and pretty much everything in between. Very definitely equipment oriented and should not be the only reference for the details of mechanical ventilation. Fabulous for the beginning RT student who is just trying to grasp the principles behind ...

Respiratory Physiology: A Clinical Approach (Integrated Physiology) 10 reviews Richard M Schwartzstein, Michael J Parker
Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, 2005
The best visuals S&P is a lot more than just a book. I bought it because it was a recommended text for our class, but I had no idea I would be getting a whole web site that goes with the book. For most of the books I buy, the CD is pretty worthless with some junk pictures, but this book has a web site with diagrams where you can do things like adjusting O2 and CO2 levels or shunting percentage and see what ...

Comprehensive Perinatal & Pediatric Respiratory Care (Comprehensive Perinatal and Pediatric Respiratory Care) 7 reviews Kent Whitaker
Delmar Cengage Learning, 2001
A good deal. I bought this book because it was required for a class I was taking, it was very specific and yet easy to understand. I would recommend this book to anyone who has the need to better understand the proper care of neonates. I was also surprised how cheaply I was able to purchase this book on Amazon. It was far more expensive on other sites and at the college book store.

Very Helpful for Respiratory Pathophysiology This is a really good book and very easy to understand. I purchased this for my respiratory pathophysiology class and it covers everything from the etiology, manifestations, symptoms, lab workups, and treatment of all of the major respiratory diseases and syndromes.
