Richard Scarry's Please & thank-you book Richard Scarry's Please and Thank You Book (Pictureback(R))
I originally bought this book for my son and now I'm buying it for my grand son. It is an excellent book, kids love it and it teaches good values. All the Richard Scarry books are excellent! They hold the child's attention and they learn without realizing it. I always enjoyed them as well, they are fun for the adult to read to their ...

Richard Scarry's Best Storybook Ever! (Giant Little Golden Book) 59 reviews
Golden Books, 2000
A childhood favorite revisited This is a wonderful treasury of stories and pictures designed to keep young children amused and entertained. Gentle lessons in how to be polite and be a good member of a household are delivered with humor, questions to the reader, and brightly colored illustrations.
I used to read this book to my sister when she was very young for hours on end. My 2 1/2 year old son discovered it in our ...

Richard Scarry's Great Big Schoolhouse 2 reviews Richard Scarry
Sterling, 2008
One of the best children's books ever My three children, who are now grown with children of their own, loved this book. They delighted in pointing out things that they recognized and never tired of reading it. We still have books from when they were small, but this one fell apart from constant use. I've been looking for this book now for my grandchildren to enjoy. Richard Scarry books should never be out of publication.

Son who loves aircraft can't get enough My son loves any aircraft since his father is a pilot so this book is great. It takes some kids on a tour through an airport and all of it's parts (mind you they do it in an airplane themselves)teaching a lot about the ahppenings. Scarry always entertains.

Richard Scarry's What Do People Do All Day 45 reviews Richard Scarry
Random House Books for Young Readers, 1968
A GEM!!! MY ALL TIME FAVORITE CHILDREN'S BOOK (moooooore stars!!!!) I got this one as a child, back in the sixties. My copy is in Dutch and although a little weathered it's not falling apart yet.
The copy I'm reviewing here is a reprint that misses several spreads, but sad though it may be, if you don't know about it you won't miss it.
Richard Scarry shows different "people" (animals in clothes), all kinds of professions, how they interact and how one depends ...

Richard Scarry's Best Word Book Ever (Giant Little Golden Book) 58 reviews
Golden Books, 1999
This IS the Best Word Book Ever! This is the only word book I remember reading with my mom back in the early 1980s. I still have my old hardcover edition after more than two decades. Every few years, I dust off the cover and go through the pages to look back fondly at the all-too-familiar pictures. Someday, I hope to pass on this book to my kid/s who will probably enjoy it as much as I did.

Great book for the car! After reading many reviews on here, I bought this book wondering what I'd get. It seems that most reviews here are either very strongly liking this book or very strongly not liking it (it's a kid's book for gosh sakes!)
Anyway, my son loves this book! It's the perfect size to hand him in the car or leaf through and talk about at a restaurant while waiting for food. The book is silly and fun- ...

Random House Books for Young Readers, 1979
A must have A childhood favorite of mine this was a gift to my children. This book covers everything! There are so many things on each page that each time we open it we are talking and looking at different things. Great for kids that are just starting to use 'words' as well as those that are old pros. Richard Scarry makes it fun!

I Am a Bunny (A Golden Sturdy Book) 76 reviews Ole Risom
Golden Books, 2004
Superb--Great First Book The storyline is very simple, a good complement to illustrations that are colorful and detailed enough to hold the attention of very young children. We got this when my first son was about 9 mos. old; within the next year he had it memorized and could "read" it to us. My son is now 22 (YEARS old) and my husband and I can still recite the book . . .

Richard Scarry's The Great Pie Robbery and Other Mysteries 1 review Richard Scarry
Sterling, 2008
FINALLY! I cannot believe this book has been out of print for so long. It is THE BEST Richard Scarry EVER! It is a mystery book where Sam Cat & Dudley Pig solve crimes. If you grew up in the 70's you probably remember them. Three complete stories now in a more "horizontal" form (The Great Pie Robbery, The Supermarket Mystery, & The Great Steamboat Mystery.) I grew up with a book that contained the ...

Richard Scarry's Best Rainy Day Book Ever 10 reviews
Golden Books, 2004
super duper! best $10 spent ever! This $10 book is way underpriced. There are pages and pages of stuff in this book and has really inspired our two year nine month old to entertain herself for hours, coloring, cutting, making paper airplanes, paper dolls, etc. Really well thought out, well designed. High quality drawings (authentic Scarry, not his estate's). I am tempted to buy another one and have our child start over again. ...

Fantastic book! If you're looking for a great train book or even just a lift the flap book, then be SURE to get this one! It's absolutely adorable! Poor Bananas gorilla has lost his bananas somewhere on the train and he has everyone looking for him. I just love all the little details in the drawing of this book - there's a worm driving a tractor on top of one of the train cars, frogs jumping into a big kettle ...

Richard Scarry's Favorite Storybook Ever (Picture Book) 3 reviews Golden Books
Golden Books, 2003
It really is the best! My two young sons LOVE this book (4 and 2 yrs old). It is a perfect sampling of Richard Scarrry's stories and pictures. My 4 year old picks it out everyday to read during his quiet time. Non readers can enjoy the pictures so much that they can be captivated by it for most of an hour. It has some of his Mother Goose rhymes, some Aesope's fables, plenty of pictures out of his "Word Book" with ...

Long Search Finally Ends I must have read this Little Golden Book book to my daughter over 1000 times. She absolutely loved it as a child. Even though she had memorized the words she insisted on having it read to her every night and she caught me every time I tried to turn two pages at once. For several years, she had unsuccessfully searched for this book so she could read it to her two sons aged 1 and 3. I was ...

Richard Scarry's Biggest Word Book Ever! 22 reviews Richard Scarry
Random House Books for Young Readers, 1985
Biggest Response Ever we gave this to our four-year-old grandson. we then spent much of the days that followed reading and laughing at its contents (and learning some things too).
understatement: it was a huge hit. even if you have other scarrys -- and the content of this one does overlap the content of some other titles -- its format makes it special.
recommended without reservation!
