I read several books throughout my first pregnancy, and found this one to be the most informative. There is a chapter on relaxation during the labor process (how to focus on keeping your muscles relaxed during contractions so your uterus doesn't have to fight against them) that I found to be VERY helpful. This is a good book and I've incorporated the suggestions and exercises into my own regimen. The nerve damage I have is primarily between my left hip down to my left knee.
