Shemotions
Saul Williams is one of the most gifted poets I've ever read or listened to, and I wish he were more widely known! I strongly recommend any poetry or poetry slam lover to watch Slam, a film Williams starred in. After hearing the emotively passionate poetry read by Williams, anyone reading the poetry in She can practically hear him recite the poems while reading them. Williams's audio cd, ...

An Essential Study of Nazi Germany and the Jews
This is truly a magisterial study of the Holocaust (Shoah), well deserving of its award of the 2008 Pulitzer Prize for general nonfiction, and follows the author's earlier volume covering the 1933-1939 period. It runs some 663 pages of text, includes 128 pages of meticulous notes, and 51 pages of bibliographic references. It places heavy reliance not only on contemporary documents, but also on ...

"THE COMMUNIST MANIFESTO OF THE 21ST CENTURY!"
"THE COMMUNIST MANIFESTO OF THE 21ST CENTURY!" This is truly the, "COMMUNIST MANIFESTO OF THE 21ST CENTURY!" As a Libertarian I see this for what it is. It is a guide book for every Stalinist Elitist Liberal which tells them how to deceive the people to gain power. And silence all opposition. And once they have gained the power do what they want to force the failure that is Communism on the ...

I have read just about everything John Saul has written and this was as terrific as the others. I could not put it down and read it in a little less than three days. After a decade as a fan, John Saul continues to keep me coming back!
Speaking as someone who has been a fan of John Saul since reading COMES THE BLIND FURY over a decade ago, I am still intrigued at how the author continues to surprise and entertain his readers with each new release. FACES OF FEAR gives you everything you yearn for in a J.S. book: the highs and lows of family life, the revealing of secrets that are better off left hidden and a source of evil that ...

Excellent Read ...(Spoilers possible)
I've been reading Saul a long time now. I'm just reading The Blackstone Chronicles because I'd gotten into reading a few other new to me authors and hadn't cycled back around to Saul's work in a while. I'm glad I've picked him up again. This story was wonderful. Set against the backdrop of insanity and an old asylum, you just can't stop reading it. As each character receives his or her ...

Not as bad as these reviews
Having read a few John Saul books I've gotten used to the way he writes. While reading you ask yourself questions like 'what happened to this guy?' 'how did that happen?' 'where is the ending?' That last one I ask myself constantly in Saul books. The ending is always abrupt, it comes from nowhere things are rolling along you turn the page and boom it's over. I was totally into this story the ...

Very Fast!
I placed this order on a Thursday and was starting school on the following Monday, so I knew it might not get here in time. But after reading the reviews saying how fast people have gotten their books I took a chance and just ordered it. Sure enough it was here Monday morning. Thanks so much!

Not what I expected, But not Disappointing
Though the pagecount may seem misleading considering some pages only contain a line or two of text, the book is a 7 x 6 installation piece as well as a good read. The text seems to act as a character throughout the book due to it's continuously interesting style and placement as well as it's ability to mimic the emotion invoked in the poem. A must have for anyone who enjoys new art and isn't ...

The Great American Novel
For a while I was intrigued by the description of "The Adventures of Augie March" as a "great American novel" because all the time that Augie spends in Chicago (and a couple suburbs) could have come from Dickens, transplanting Depression-era Chicago for Victorian London and Mrs. Renling for Miss Haversham, and so forth. When I thought about it deeper and looked more closely I decided what gave ...

Very good
Very nice read. One of those books you don't want to put down. The only thing I would have changed would have been more information at the ending about who the Rockwell people were, what they were, where they went, and how they did what they did. A lot of that was left to the imagination, when I would have preferred it just be explained. I felt very sorry for the little girl who had been ...

Timeless Words From A Master Organizer
With the vision of an idealist but the experience of a seasoned organizer, Alinsky presents a clear picture of both the unequal America he saw in 1946 and the democracy he believed America could be. He does not stop there, however. He also provides a blueprint for moving from the society of inequalilty and injustice into a land where the poor, powerless and disadvantaged are empowered and our ...

Great Work from A Great Historian
I've taken several seminars at UCLA with Saul Friedlander, and to say that he is an objective and very insightful historian is an understatement. This book is terrific and deserves all the critical praise that it has received. Even if you are just curious about the Holocaust, or you are a serious historian of the time period, you should definitely pick this book up.

Concerning his penchant for difficult or vulgar subject matter, San Francisco-born painter Peter Saul has stated, "Putting crime, war, sex, distortion and low class stuff into the picture is a way to take the decoration out of the picture--literally remove it from the dining room because no one is going to drink orange juice in the same room with it." Saul fuses his MAD Magazine-inspired humor with a Surrealist painting style to create ...

Hip Hop and Poetry
I first heard about this book on a message board (I think it was the one from DaveyD.com) and I really enjoyed reading the publisher's excerpt, and it was just the introduction. With it, I didn't know how to take it. Whether it was truth or just a very well worded story from Saul Williams. Either way, I could feel the vibe of Hiphop Kulture coming from it. So of course, I went out and bought ...

Well-written
Another one of John Saul books that was very engaging. When Teri's parents died in a house fire, she moves in with her father(Charles), step-mother(Phyllis), and half-sister(Melissa). At first everything is going well for Teri. Although Teri is treated like gold by her step-mother, Melissa is being abused by ner mother. One night Teri witnesses the punishment Phyllis imposes on Melissa. ...

Saul Bellow selected the stories in this anthology which span the era of the late 1940s to mid-1950s. It includes a broad range of people, places, and topics. Each story is a richly textured, deep memory file of detail, depth, and description making every sentence and paragraph a work of artistic merit. A Gripping and Exciting Read
The Presence, by John Saul, is a truly gripping and exciting read that totally throws the reader into the content of the story and truly makes the reader feel as though the far-fetched nature of the novel could actually be feasible. The novel's focus on main character Michael Sundquist and his unwilling involvement in one of the most influential and terrifying scientific discoveries of all time. ...
The Rules for the Gender of French Nouns: Revised Third Edition

Do you wonder why an arm is masculine while a leg is feminine? Why your sofa is masculine but your chair is feminine? And why should a person or victim always be feminine, even if the person or the victim referred to happens to be a man? And isn't it odd that masculinité is feminine? The illogic of French gender can be puzzling and frustrating to the new student of French. After reading this book, if you see words like croisement , or pays ...
