Making Sense of Secondary Science: Research into Children's Ideas 3 reviews Drivers
Routledge, 1993
A must for all high school science teachers! This book should accompany any science text book because it is a reality check for teachers. The research is clear and comprehensive - no holds barred! After reading it from cover to cover I immediately modified my teaching practice. I reassessed my assumptions about what students know and can do then and changed course. I have a greater appreciation for my students' views and misconceptions ...

Peterson's Private Secondary Schools I'm a consumate researcher. Throughout my son's school years, nursery school to college, I've been on a quest for the best solutions and custom fit for them. They have attended a combination of local public, magnate and private schools. I tend to research schools thoroughly, initially throwing out a big net and gradually refining my search. In my present quest for a private day or Boarding School ...

Secondary School Teaching: A Guide to Methods and Resources (3rd Edition) 2 reviews Richard D. Kellough, Noreen G. Kellough
Prentice Hall, 2006
Good summary In my first year of teaching and enrolled full time in college I have very little time to wrestle with textbooks! I found this book to be very detailed for the amount of material it covers. The worksheets aren't essential, but could be good for someone who is not in a classroom every day. Good coverage--addressing the eternal question of depth vs. breadth, and it does well enough at both!

Science Instruction in the Middle and Secondary Schools: Developing Fundamental Knowledge and Skills for ... 3 reviews Eugene L. Chiappetta, Thomas R. Koballa
Prentice Hall, 2005
A perfect science methods book This is the ideal science methods text. It offers a solid theoretical background and clearly illustrates the practical applications of this theory. The advice about classroom management is sound, sober, and realistic. I am delighted that the authors spend an entire chapter on often neglected topics (in other science methods texts) such as professional development and the history of reform in ...

Great summer activity project! I stumbled upon this book while looking for resources on NLD (nonverbal learning disorder), which has caused my bright, 12-year-old son to flounder both academically and socially since fourth grade. It is FULL of excellent activities for children who have difficulty picking up social cues and interacting appropriately with their peers. Because my son works so hard during the regular school ...

Not your typical textbook I am currently a senior education major at Eastern Mennonite University in VA and this is the absolute best textbook I have ever used. Most of textbooks sit on the shelf and I skim them for needed class info. This particular textbook I have read every word and have gained so much knowledge. It is not written in the typical dry textbook language and is so easy to understand!
