Sedimentary Rocks in the Field: A Color Guide 2 reviews Dorrik A.V. Stow
Academic Press, 2005
Superb introduction to sedimentary rocks and structures. This book is one of the best introductions to sedimentary rocks and their structures that I have come across in 25 years.
It begins with a section on the structures found in sedimentary rocks. The diagrams are clear, concise, and very well explained. The photographs that go with them are among the best I've seen for demonstrating sedimentary structures. They are almost professional in their ...

Advances in Fluvial Dynamics and Stratigraphy 1 review
Wiley, 1996
One of the Best Sediment Compilations Available After the fourth time I chased a promising reference into the library and emerged with this book I knew it was something special. Carling and Dawson put together a very good compilation that remains compelling a decade later. Best was the appropriate (must...resist...obvious...pun) choice to review the flurry of recent developments in bedform mechanics. His 60 page overview is itself worth ...

Depositional Sedimentary Environments, With Reference to Terrigenous Clastics 1 review Hans-Erich Reineck
Springer-Verlag, 1981
An excellent read and great resource book An excellent book. Very technical and precise and yet not difficult to understand. Many diagrams and charts make it easier to understand. Many modern examples are given of various wave-ripple types as well as bedforms. I like it. It's the best that I could find. Topics covered include Physical Parameters, Current and Wave Ripples, Surface Markings and Imprints, Scour Marks, Tool Marks, ...

Manual of sedimentary structures, (Australia. Dept. of National Development. Bureau of Mineral Resources, ... 1 review C. E. B. Conybeare, K. A. W. Crook
Bureau of Mineral Resources, Geology and Geophysics, 1968
These would make nice jewelry...for a geologist Rare and out of print study of sediment. The first section is detailed description, classification and analysis of all these kinds of structures, but the majority of the book is a fascinating look at detailed excellent photographs of these sediments, with exact location and how these particular sediments were formed. It's really a great identification manual! Highly recommended for scientists, ...

Sedimentary Environments and Facies 1 review READING
WileyBlackwell, 1981
Stunning An amazing book. I've only had a chance to leaf through but it is immensely descriptive. Lots of sketches, figures of sedimentary environments, photos, TONS of explanation, etc... I really wish this book were available when I was a student - I might have liked sed. rocks a lot better. This book is opening my eyes. I highly recommend it as a starter or very advanced read.

Sedimentology and Sedimentary Basins: From Turbulence to Tectonics 1 review Mike Leeder
Wiley-Blackwell, 1999
Sedimentary geology as an integrated discipline... I think Leeder's textbook will appeal to anyone who's striving to learn more about sedimentology and dynamic stratigraphy. It's a concise, yet thorough introduction to many topics selected within the vast, ever-expanding (and worryingly so! ) field of sedimentary geology... The author's main goal was probably to provide readers with a clear sense of how well integrated sedimentary geology now is ...

Good reference text I bought this book as a reference to refresh my mind on Basin Anaysis before returning to work. It has all the essentials if you like the mathematical approach. I found it a bit dry and the diagrams could have used a bit of colour. All in all it is was it is, a text book.
