Enjoyed it Even More the Second Time
Sara Davidson's "Loose Change" is a brilliantly-written account of the Sixties as experienced by three young women coming of age. I bought this book when it first came out in 1977 and loved it. Recently, I came across "Loose Change" in a used book store and just couldn't put it down. The Sixties were a time of great social upheaval, and I remember many of the major events. I went though ...

Perfect
I loved this book. Leigh was the perfect character, unlike the characters in the previous two books she was three dimensional. The author wasn't afraid to show all sides of Leigh. The only complaint that I had was that it wasn't longer.

Morgenthaler comments
Instead of rehashing the cosmetics of a worship service, David Edwards drives straight into the core questions many of us have been asking about worship for years, albeit privately and a bit furtively. Worship 365 is not an academic treatise or a pragmatic "how to wow your church visitors" tome, but a tender guidebook, leading us right into the nucleus of worship itself--an extravagant, ...

A Personal Manifesto
Easily one of the most readable and personal accounts of the radicalization of American youth in the sixties. I read it when it was first published and it blew me away. I followed Kunen's career on through his work with the Liberation News Service and his life in a New England commune and he did a magnificent job of chronicling our times.

a clarion call to women in the third trimester of life
In A Time of Our Own, Elinor Greenberg and Fay Whitney summarize the results of their extensive interviews with women who are in their 60s and older. Their book is filled with memorable quotations, advice on health and financial concerns, and suggestions for new kinds of living arrangements for seniors on their own. Perhaps the most distinctive feature of the book is the spirit and spunk of ...

Writing in collaboration with Cornelius Castoriadis and Grace Lee, James examines the practical process of social revolution in the modern world. Inspired by the October 1956 Hungarian workers’ revolution against Stalinist oppression, as well as the wildcat strikes of U.S. workers (against Capital and the union bureaucracies), James and his co-authors looked ahead to the rise of new mass emancipatory movements by African Americans and ...

Movies of the '60s
This is a great book. It contains (wonderful) pictures and writing on great films of the '60s - Breakfast at Tiffany's, Zorba the Greek, To Kill a Mockingbird, The Graduate, Lawrence of Arabia, A Hard Day's Night, 2001: The Space Odyssey, Barbarella, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and many others. As a film enthusiast, I can spend hours reading and looking through this book. Anyone ...

We Need Dancin's Ideas More Than Ever Before!
To get a feel for the 60's, read Dancin': a compilation of radical essays and texts from the period. They make it clear that there's no liberty or freedom without the abolition of all the misery producing authoritarian institutions that make up the established order: jails, armies, work, governments, schools, churches, capitalism, the commodity spectacle, electoral politics and of the ...

In the Minor Prophets of the Bible, stern-minded men proclaimed God's displeasure over sin, announced His Judgement, offered His mercy and forgiveness, and reminded people that God would keep His covenants with them. This study is for all who have struggled to follow the Lord, yet long to more clearly hear His voice.

Brilliant but not for Everyone
Judgments about Barthelme remind me of how subjective criticism of literature is. Is he a genius or a fraud? One thing is for certain: if you do not have a taste for the absurd you are probably not going to like Barthelme. His stories are filled with absurdist/surrealist elements. But for me, what separates him from other "experimental" writers is his ability to elicit emotion from the reader. ...

I have been a drug addict and a heavy smoker for most of my adult life. A friend loaned me a copy of this book and it literally saved my life. I am now clean from drugs. I still smoke a bit but have reduced my intake dramatically and hope to be smoke free in the next 30 days using the techniques covered in this book. Daily Inspiration
This is a wonderful calendar. I look forward every morning to reading my "treat for the day". I love the fact that it is a perpetual calendar so that I can use it year after year. That in itself is rather unique. The thoughts at first seem simple enough and yet as I ponder each one I find it takes on new dimentions. I have already ordered 2 more for gifts. You can't go wrong on this one!
