Invasion of the Body Snatchers25 reviews
Jack Finney

Touchstone, 1998

A Classic Tale of Paranoia.
_Invasion of the Body Snatchers_, first published in 1954, is a bizarre science fiction novel by author Jack Finney (1911 - 1995) which recounts a strange story in which alien life-forms in the form of plant-like pods come down to earth and take over the bodies of people in a small town. Several important sub-themes run through this novel, including the theme of sexuality and paranoia expressed ...

The Body Snatcher and Other Tales (Dover Thrift Editions)1 review
Robert Louis Stevenson

Dover Publications, 2001

Three Short Stories with Varied Themes - Horror, Lunacy, and Love
Robert Louis Stevenson is best known for Treasure Island, Kidnapped, and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, but he also created a remarkably varied collection of short stories. This Dover Thrift Edition, titled The Body Snatcher and Other Tales, offers three tales: The Body Snatcher (1881), The Merry Men (1884), and The Bottle Imp (1890). In the late eighteenth and early nineteenth century grave ...

The Body Snatchers4 reviews
Jack Finney

Lightyear Press, 1993

The 1980's altered text or the unaltered 1950's text?
Since these reviews are based on The Lightyear Press publication, I am assuming from the comments in this review that this is an updated revised version which would include the identical updated text also found in the Fireside published version - which was the softcover trade publication owned by Simon and Schuster. Why I am confused is that the photo of the book listed by [...] depicts the ...

Invasion of the Party Snatchers20 reviews
Victor Gold

Sourcebooks, Inc., 2008

Extremism in the defense of anything is the ultimate vice
This is a magnificent mea culpa, an eloquent and gifted lament of the intemperance of modern politics offered by one of the prime architests of the idea that "extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice." Gold deserves an 'Albert Speer Award' for his defense of the indefensible. As an articulate, perceptive, honest and candid writer, Gold worked for major politicians ranging from Barry ...

Invasion of the Boy Snatchers2 reviews
Lisi Harrison

Little, Brown and Company, 2005

Invasion of the Boy Snatchers
Invasion of the Boy Snatchers is a realistic-fiction book written by Lisi Harrison. To me, it's just a book about the tiring, dramatic, ups and downs of a girl's life. I think all teens can relate. I enjoyed reading this book and think other girls would find it a page-turner as well. I liked the book Invasion of the Boy Snatchers because I can relate to the plot and it's exciting to hear about ...

The Grey Lady and the Strawberry Snatcher25 reviews

Aladdin, 1996

Heck, I like this book.
This is the first wordless book I bought for my son, and I must say that I am struck by the beauty of the illustrations. They're almost too pretty for a pre-schooler . . . . Without words, the illustrations tell an engaging and suspenseful story about a woman, her strawberries and a dark creature in hot pursuit. Wordless books are nice to have in a household like mine where Mom and Dad speak ...

Body Snatchers, Stiffs and Other Ghoulish Delights1 review
Frederick Drimmer

Carol Publishing Corporation, 1992

Has its moments.
Just finished reading this book this morning. It's a quick read. History of bodysnatching in Britain and the U.S., plus some miscellaneous dramatic stories about grave-robberies and embalmed freaks. History of Burke and Hare and story of Hottentot Venus are the standouts for me. Drimmer's writing is workmanlike, but that's OK -- it's the fruit of his research that interests, anyway. All the ...

Soul Snatchers: A Quest for True Human Beings1 review
Robert W. Morgan

Pine Winds Pr, 2008

Absolutely wonderful tome, really well-written!!!!!!
I finished this book in four days, and what a terrific journey the author takes us on. From the deserts of New Mexico, where he gets guidance from a 102-year-old Native American named Nino Cochise, to the Swamps of Florida, where he meets a most unusual evangelist and has encounters with things he cannot explain, to the wilds of Washington State, where he and his team experiment with a method ...

Invasion of the Body Snatchers (Rutgers Films in Print)2 reviews
Al Lavalley

Rutgers University Press, 1990

about the 1st review (tommys)
I dont know why you said "if you like the 1978 version of the film you'll love this book" when this book is the script for the 1956 version, directed by Don Siegal (who later directed "Dirty Harry"). By the way, the original 1950s version was only about 95% better than the re-make, which is why i had a problem with the comment. Thank You

The Body Snatchers: How the Media Shapes Women

M.P. Robertson

Dial, 2005

Wonderful illustrations!!
The illustrations in this book are gorgeous and are a good reason to buy it for your dragon fans. In the story the boy rides his dragon to an evil castle where a wizard is hoarding and freezing dragon eggs of every variety. The boy helps save the dragon eggs while riding his own dragon. A nice fantasy story.

The Body Snatcher2 reviews
Robert Louis Stevenson

Travelman Publishing, 2000

Great Read
Stevenson manages to create in a short space a dark world in which characters do terrible things without being able to help themselves. Enjoy the story on a cold, rainy winter night.
