Out to Canaan (The Mitford Years, Book 4) (Spanish Edition)101 reviews
Jan Karon

Penguin Books, 1998

You will want to travel to Mitford
Continuing in the tradition of the previous Mitford books, this one is just as enjoyable. Heartwarming story and excellent narration draw the listener into the world of Mitford and all its inhabitants. It was difficult to turn the CD player off and do other things. Good for trips in the car-makes the time pass quickly.

great kids birthday present!
I keep several of these in my gift closet and whenever my kids get a b-day invitation this is what we give. Awesome, awesome present for kids regarding the environment. Love, love, love it! P.S. We cut a paper bag and turn it inside out and wrap it in that. Then my son decorates the outside with stickers, stamps, and coloring!

James Cameron's Titanic (Spanish Edition)315 reviews
Ed Marsh

Boxtree, Limited, 1998

TITANIC REDEUX
The scope of this majestic book truly befits the epic effort by James Cameron with his cinematic masterpiece "Titanic". Much great information here for the movie buff who likes to see how it is done. Incredible sets including the dining salon, complete even to dishes and decor. I was amazed to see how this particular set was pulled underwater by hydraulics to provide a very realistic feeling of ...

still the best
My dad turned me on to this decades ago, and I'm on my third copy (having worn out the first two). Better than any thesaurus. I always keep it handy when writing.

Fancy Nancy (Spanish edition): Nancy la Elegante182 reviews
Jane O'connor

Rayo, 2008

No One Knows Fancy like Nancy!
We, my granddaughters and me, started the Fancy Nancy series some place in the middle! So it was really super to get this book and start from the beginning. Both the granddaughters are fairly girlie-girlie, so Nancy appeals to them with her frills and feathers and fanciness. This is a fun series for kids!

Practice Makes Perfect: Spanish Verb Tenses142 reviews
Dorothy Richmond

McGraw-Hill, 1996

Great Spanish Book
This is a great book for, well, practicing Spanish Verbs. LOTS of exercises! Lots of verbs. It's probably for the advanced beginner, you need to know some Spanish vocabulary. It's a moderate sized book, so easy enough to carry around for practicing Spanish any place I can sit and write, and verbs continue to challenge me. No audio, of course, but there are other products for that.

Helpful and interesting.
Very readable, informative and interesting. Snappy chapters like Ten Ways to Avoid Being Taken for a Gringo make this a fun read. Well worth the price for anyone wanting to get beyond textbook Spanish.

good things come in small packages
I own this book and I love it, would I buy another if I lost it? follow the burning rubber tracks to the nearest book dealer! Why? for all the reasons mentioned in the other reviews.

great
This is a great book. It was encouraging and challenging. I hope that a lot of Christians in our country read it and then get on their knees collectively and start praying for God to heal our land.

Iron Coffins: A U-boat Commander's War, 1939-45 (Cassell Military Paperbacks)99 reviews
Herbert A. Werner

Cassell military, 2006

I Could Not Put It Down
What a unique and exciting story Herbert Werner has, and against all odds, he lived to tell about it. Iron Coffins is the story of Herbert Werner, beginning as an ensign aboard German u-boats (German submarines during World War II), chronicling his move up the ranks to finally captain a number of u-boats during the most deadly time of the war during which only about 15% of boats sent out on a ...

Butter Fuy (Spanish Edition)95 reviews
Kathryn Harvey

Penguin Books, 1992

Great book.
My wife wanted this so badly, as she remembers just loving it years ago. So, I got it for her as a present, and she read it in about 2-3 nights time. She's been bugging me to read it, and perhaps I will.

Twenty Years After (World's Classics)59 reviews
Alexandre Dumas père

Oxford University Press, USA, 1993

Maturity, Friendship, Adventure
Thoroughly entertaining, "Twenty Years After" is a fulfilling sequel to a classic swashbuckling masterpiece. Twenty Years have passed since D'Artagnan and the Musketeers triumphed over Cardinal Richelieu, preserved the Queen's honor, and brought justice upon the face of evil, Milady. The wave of time has carried the four friends down very different paths of life, and they have not been in ...

Fox in Socks (Dr.Seuss Classic Collection) (Spanish Edition)75 reviews
Dr Seuss

HarperCollins Publishers, 1996

great introduction to reading and wonderful bonding!!!
Dr. Seuss' Fox in Socks is by far one of my three most favorite books from childhood. What great detail is to be found in the illustrations, classic fantastic images on page after page, which, alone, are worth the price of the book. however, it has words and somewhat of a plot. for us old geezers, the font is big enough to see! It contains many episodes between that pesky Fox wearing socks ...

Practice Makes Perfect: Spanish Pronouns And Prepositions79 reviews
Dorothy Richmond

McGraw-Hill, 1998

5 Star Review by James
This is James from James Spanish (the learning Spanish blog). This book is one in the highly praised Practice Makes Perfect series. Written by Dorothy Richmond, the author of many other great Spanish language books, the writing is light hearted and engaging despite the dry subject matter. Finding ways to make studying pronouns and prepositions more fun is a challenge, but one that the author ...

Recibir la Gracia Escondida: cómo mantenernos en pie en el dolor y la pérdida (Spanish Edition)52 reviews
Jerry Sittser

Vida, 2006

The reality of facing grief and loss...insightful, tough, courageous look at faith and survival.
This book met me in a dark place in my life after the sudden loss of my wife, a loan from a friend. Complimented C.S. Lewis' similar work, goes further. Found it to be a lifeline and a guide for managing my experience, and appreciated the real costs of facing this head-on. A good read for someone who feels caught between heaven and hell after the death of a loved one.

Manchild in the Promised Land57 reviews
Claude Brown

Touchstone, 1999

Manchild in the Promised Land
This is an awesome book that I highly recommend to all young men trying to find their "way". It can be a little harsh, but it is about life in the inner city and a young man becoming a man.

Ficcionario: Una Antologia De Sus Textos (Spanish Edition)73 reviews
Jorge Luis Borges

Fondo de Cultura Economica USA, 2000

The labyrinth that consists of a single straight line
Jorge Luis Borges was one of those rare writers who can take even a bizarre, utterly unbelievable idea, and spin it into an exquisite little gem of prose. And this classic writer was at the peak of his powers when he collected together "Ficciones," whose plain name belies the subtle power and exquisite beauty of Jorges' short stories. Even among Borges' many short stories, few of them can ...
