I love the whole spectrum series of books, including this one. Very thorough but not too difficult so that the child gets discouraged. Absolutely grade level appropriate. You see real progress as your child works through these books and builds on all the things being learnt. Wonderful series!

This book does some other English/grammar/word related exercises and might be a decent workbook to reinforce some grammar skills, but it isn't a good book for reading comprehension. This is a great low-cost math book for homeschoolers. We paid much more for other math programs, but have used Spectrum Math for grades four and five. I recommend this to all of our homeschooling friends. Easy to use, with an answer key in the back of each book.
