Histology for Pathologists4 reviews

Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, 2006

Customer review
This book is actually (for those of you who haven't worked it out) the latest edition of that wonderful book first edited by Sternberg, entitled "Histology for Pathologists". It is an excellent reference book and I consider it to be essential reading for all trainee tissue pathologists. It is well set out and written in a fluid style. If you are thinking of buying it, just jump in and do it. You ...

Foucault's Pendulum385 reviews
Umberto Eco

Harvest Books, 2007

Great Book, Worth Reading However Many Times It Takes
I am in total agreement with those reviewers who said a)the book made them feel smarter upon completion, and b)it takes multiple readings to finally put all the pieces of this complex puzzle together. But how rewarding!!! You want a real intellectual challenge? Take on The Glass Bead Game. It'll give your grey matter a run for its money. I got a totally different take on reading Foucault's ...

Outstanding edition! Excelent job!
The reading structure allow the reader to visualize and understand American History from outside and inside. Wonderful maps, statistical charts, great photos, and a very good section titled: historical question. If you are the type of person in exploring new perspectives of the American History, do not hesitate to look this book.

Two for the Dough (Stephanie Plum, No. 2)214 reviews
Janet Evanovich

St. Martin's Press, 2007

Stephanie's still learning...
Likes: 'Two for the Dough' was a fast-paced, exciting read. There was not one boring section in the entire book. Grandma Mazur and the rest of Stephanie's family is hilarious and I liked how they were a lot more involved in this book than they were in the first book. Grandma Mazur even helps Stephanie with catching Kenny Mancuso. Stephanie is still learning the trade of being a bounty hunter and ...

Exploring Psychology5 reviews
David G. Myers

Worth Publishers, 2007

Excellent
I have bought my share of text books, and more often then not I cringe at the cost for what you get. Often I find that my lecture materials are useful and the text is not. Not so this book! I loved it (although the chapters can be a little long) PROS: the quizzes throughout chapters to test your understanding and an associated website with practice multiple choice and review questions that ...

The Sex Lives of Cannibals: Adrift in the Equatorial Pacific94 reviews
J. Maarten Troost

Broadway, 2004

Will add sunshine to your day...without all the heat
It's rare to find a book that is so amusing you're giggling every chapter or so. This is one of those books. The title is ridiculous, as the book has nothing at all to do with the sex lives of cannibals. This is the adventures of Troost and his girlfriend who go to live on the atoll Tarawa in the Pacific. He tells of his adventures--fishing for shark, boogie boarding on 25ft waves, trying to ...

Coming Out53 reviews
Danielle Steel

Dell, 2007

Light and predictable - and relaxing
Danielle Steel is an excellent writer with a huge production. Perhaps one cannot expect that every one of her books should be five stars unputdownable. This one is not. There are too many typical Danielle Steel clichés in this book to make you feel you are reading a fresh new piece of work. I felt I had read most of it before and although there ARE family problems to be solved, they hardly ...

Tracy Hogg, Melinda Blau

Atria, 2006

This book changed my life!
A friend loaned me this book and then I bought all of Tracy Hogg's books! The Baby Whisperer is a fabulous, helpful, insightful set of books that changed me from a clueless first-time mommy to a routined, experienced mommy, and I even have time for myself. I recommend this book to every mom, new or seasoned.

The Memory Keeper's Daughter838 reviews
Kim Edwards

Penguin (Non-Classics), 2006

"Families have secrets they hide even from themselves..."
How appropriate I found this phrase printed on the back cover. As soon as I started the first chapter, my attention was held as if of by a spell, enthralling. Page after page, the story transcendently drowns you into a captivating and emotional whirlwind and there is no going back. 1964. Doctor David Henry and his wife Norah are happily married and expecting their first child. At the ...

Eleven on Top (Stephanie Plum, No. 11)356 reviews
Janet Evanovich

St. Martin's Press, 2006

First Novel
This was the first Stephenie Plum novel I ever read. I actually got it from the dollar store. I was a little iffy when I heard of the series, awhile back, but when I caught one in the dollar store I thought, what the hell. I loved this book. I laughed out loud many times. After this one i had to buy the whole whole series, and I enjoyed ever single one. Some better than others. Janet ...

The Last Days of Dogtown: A Novel57 reviews
Anita Diamant

Scribner, 2006

The Last Days of Dogtown
Dogtown, where people are destitute and unfortunate, or so it seems. We meet lots of characters from Dogtown, each with their own problems and dilemmas. We read how they survive and some even form friendships or find love. There isn't much I can say from all the other reviews that have been written. However, I can say that I did enjoy this read. At times it plodded along, but I stuck with it, ...

The Well-Designed Mixed Garden: Building Beds and Borders with Trees, Shrubs, Perennials, Annuals, and Bulbs18 reviews
Tracy Disabato-Aust, Martin Knapp, ...

Timber Press, Incorporated, 2003

Destined to be a classic garden reference.
I'm a master gardener from Illinois, and have heard Tracy Disabato-Aust on a number of occasions. Her book The Well-Tended Perennial Garden has long been our bible for perennials. In this new book, she makes accessible for all gardeners the depth of her experience and research in incorporating many kinds of plants in a mixed border. The book is worth buying for the appendices alone: plants by ...

Algebra and Trigonometry: Functions and Applications (Classic Edition)6 reviews
Paul A. Foerster

Scott Foresman & Co, 1998

Excellent High School Honors Algebra Text
I used this text in 9th Grade Honors Algebra and found that It is one of the best Algreba texts written. I used Mr. Foerster's Basic Algebra book in 8th grade. His explaniation of the topics were very clear and to the point. His exercises make you think and learn. You could learn Algebra without a teacher with this book. I do not think you could find a better Algebra/Basic Trig text.

Mosby's Comprehensive Review of Nursing for NCLEX-RN® (Mosby's Comprehensive Review of Nursing for Nclex-Rn)18 reviews
Dolores F. Saxton, Patricia M. Nugent, ...

Mosby, 2006

Excellent
This book, especially the review question section, is great! The questions are written in a format similar to boards questions and yes, they are just as frustrating!! :-) It really helps you get a feel for the critical thinking that is necessary to answer the questions on boards. I definitely recommend this book to all nursing students studying for boards.

Compelling Evidence (A Paul Madriani Novel)23 reviews
Steve Martini

Jove, 1993

Slow at first but picks up in the middle through the end
I had a really hard time getting into this book. I also felt like the character development was a little shallow. However, I did enjoy the courtroom banter during the trial. The author did an excellent job of making the legal process easy to follow, with brief explanations along the way. The book became more interesting and harder to put down as I got deeper into it. I would have preferred a ...
