The Unthinkable: Who Survives When Disaster Strikes - and Why17 reviews
Amanda Ripley

Crown, 2008

Fascinating Detail on How and Why People React in Catastrophies
Ripley writes a fascinating book on how and why people act in disasters while utilizing testimonies from real tragedies ranging from the 9/11 twin towers to the passenger plane that plunged into the Everglades in the early 70s to even more recent occurrences such as the Virginia Tech shootings. The personal accounts involved with each circumstance make the book much more personal as the ...

Star Strike (The Inheritance Trilogy, Book 1)11 reviews
Ian Douglas

Eos, 2008

Excellent New Start
It took me all of two days to devour this title. I enjoyed the legacy trilogy so much that I decided to purchase this book as soon as I could. I believe that Ian Douglas gets better with each book. The character development continues to get stronger. By the end of the book you feel like you are a part of the family of Marines Douglas keeps mentioning. You start to identify with the emotions ...

Strike Force book review:
Got this book along with his latest one Shadow Command. I am a big time fan of Dales writing. This book is a good read from start to finish. If you are a DB fan and don't have this book you can't go wrong by adding it to the collection.

Batman: The Dark Knight Strikes Again227 reviews
Frank Miller, Lynn Varley

DC Comics, 2004

weak
First I should say that Miller's the Dark Knight Returns is one of my favorite pieces of literature. It is exquisite, but the sequel is rather weak. The art isn't anywhere near as good as the original. The story had some good moments but was overall way too heavy handed. Miller felt the neeed to beat us over the head with the point he was making. I prefer to forget about this graphic novel and ...

Kiki Strike: The Empress's Tomb (Kiki Strike)11 reviews
Kirsten Miller

Bloomsbury USA Children's Books, 2007

Empress =D
This most definitely is on my list of my favorite books of all time, along with the book that comes before it in the Kiki Strike series. Kirsten Miller has a marvelous way of keeping track of everything that's going on in her book, and things don't just fall out of the story. It's written in an entertaining way, but that doesn't overpower the plot in itself.

Darwin Strikes Back: Defending the Science of Intelligent Design22 reviews
Thomas Woodward

Baker Books, 2006

Awesome Piece of Work
When I first started reading this book, I asked myself why I had spent more money to buy another book which exposes the frailty of Darwinian or neo-Darwinian evolution. I'd already researched the topic quite thoroughly in order to write a novel about it. As a result of my attitude, I was a little lukewarm as I began to turn the pages of this work. As I continued to progress into the interior of ...

When the Enemy Strikes: The Keys to Winning Your Spiritual Battles25 reviews
Charles F. Stanley

Thomas Nelson, 2006

enlighting book
this book really gets to the point on how the devil can strike you and how you can handle it. Also how it may come from the least expected source. it really hit home for me and how the devil was using my siblings to get to me. when i learned how to handle it it really gave me a peace about things i had been going thru. also other things that had happened. so now when things come up i really think ...

101 Baseball Places to See Before You Strike Out1 review
Josh Pahigian

The Lyons Press, 2008

What a Fun Book
I just received a copy of this book a few days ago and I've really enjoyed looking at all of the colorful pictures and reading the interesting and sometimes funny essays. Some of the sites I'll visit (like the Field of Dreams Movie Site), others I think I'll skip (like the courthouse where Joe Jackson couldn't say it wasn't so) but it's fun learning about them all. Good book for a snowy day.

When All Hell Breaks Loose: Stuff You Need To Survive When Disaster Strikes26 reviews
Cody Lundin

Gibbs Smith, Publisher, 2007

Good Book for all levels of preparation
Mr. Lundin has shared his considerable knowledge on a number of important issues relating to staying alive and well when "All Hell breaks loose." the importance of redundant systems for water and fire are mentioned. the disposal of dead bodies is mentioned; a topic that we all hope we never have to do, but in such situations as Katrina, we could be called to do that to prevent the spread of ...

Europa Strike: Book Three of the Heritage Trilogy (Douglas, Ian. Heritage Trilogy, Bk. 3.)17 reviews
Ian Douglas

Eos, 2000

Great Finish to a great series!
This has got to be one of the best sci-fi stories ever written. I was amazed. Normally, I like casual sci-fi, if even that. I picked up this series as a fluke. Just kinda curious about it, I figured, hey, This one has gotten pretty good reviews. So I picked up all three, and started reading. By the time I was only a hundred pages into the first book, I couldn't stop. By the time I was ...

Charles R. Swindoll

Alpha, 2000

Caution! This book will transform your marriage!
This book is packed with so much excellent advice! The best thing about it is it's source - our main Handbook for Life, the Bible. This book gives us the practical applications for the principles that God has given us in His Word, so that we can experience His best for us. I've heard so many people wish for an instruction book when encountering one of life's biggest or most important ...
