The Complete Book of Self Sufficiency9 reviews
John Seymour

Corgi, 1978

An indispensable book for the smallholder.
The Complete Book of Self-Sufficiency is just that, how to get the best from a small garden, or a large farm, and everything in between. It is all covered, raising crops, and livestock, cure a ham, pickle onions, keep bees, generate power, and sink a well. The book is well written and I find myself refering to it constantly, it also makes a darn good read. The book is available in soft cover ...

All the knowledge in the world is in this one book. Okay, maybe it just seems like it. The New Complete Book of Self-Sufficiency4 reviews
John Seymour

Dorling Kindersley Publishers Ltd, 2003

Greatest Book Ever Written
This is the greatest self-sufficiency book ever written. That's my opinion. :) I highly recommend this to anyone who wishes to become less impactful on the environment and to have more money in their pockets thanks to this style of living. You can do a little or a lot, depending on what you have to work with initially. This is an awesome, non-hippie/tree-hugger book about self-sufficiency ...

The Four Most Common Haircuts That Anyone Can Master6 reviews

L&J Publishing and Graphics, 2006

Simple, user-friendly techniques helped us save a lot of money!
I bought this book a couple years ago because we have four boys and my husband had always cut their hair. They were getting old enough that they wanted it to look a little more professional, so it was either spend a bunch at a barber or learn how to do it differently. This book was a huge help. My husband was able to learn new ways of cutting so that the boys were happy with the results, and ...

The Logic of Sufficiency3 reviews
Thomas Princen

The MIT Press, 2005

A powerful argument, with loads of insight and examples
This is a very well-written book, whose importance cannot be emphasized strongly enough. It deserves to be read widely, not only by academics and policy makers, but by all those who are concerned with the status quo and know that something has to change in our way of doing things, but have a hard time seeing how. As a whole, the book presents a detailed and compelling response to those who ...

If you are new to mini-farming, this is the book to get. Markham grows a tremendous amount of food in a postage stamp piece of land, and he tells how to do it in this book. From planting the seeds to processing the harvest to a lesson on soil chemistry in between, this book covers it all in a folksy, easy to read style. It is a very practical book, for people who need to grow gardens to save ...

Reasonable Sufficiency6 reviews
David Glueck

Commonwealth Pubns Inc, 1998

The Last One - Enjoy
Unfortunetly, Mr. Glueck passed away last year. This was his first book and while everyone was looking forward to it's sequel, we'll have to be content with just this one book.

Ordering problems approximated: Register sufficiency, single-processor scheduling and interval graph ...4 reviews
Ajit Agrawal

Brown University, Dept. of Computer Science, 1991

JEKYLL AND HYDE - THE WAR YEARS - VOL 3
This was the third of three Goebbel War Year diaries that I bought and read. Although not the easiest prose to read -- in part they were not written necessarily to be read but to be perhaps used in a memoir that was destined to never be written -- this and the other two diaries are fascinating books for people fascinated by that era. This diary ends on 9 April 45. According to the introduction ...

The Well-Fed Writer: Financial Self-Sufficiency As a Freelance Writer in Six Months or Less122 reviews
Peter Bowerman

Fanove Publishing, 2000

How To Get Started As A Freelance Writer
In this book, Peter Bowerman lays out a blueprint that, IF YOU USE IT, can definitely lead to a full-time career as a freelance copywriter. The key is "if you use it". Despite the book's title, Bowerman doesn't talk much about the actual process of writing, so if you want to know how to write effective advertising copy, you should check out Bob Bly's "The Copywriter's Handbook", which is pretty ...

Backyard Self-Sufficiency2 reviews
Jackie French

Aird Books Pty.Ltd, 1998

Self-sufficiency without the fanaticism
This was my introduction to Jackie French's books, and a real breath of fresh air. Finally, a book which gives practical, realistic suggestions for growing food and using what your garden gives, without trying to convert or brow-beat, as so many books in this genre do. While Jackie acknowledges the positive environmental impact of her fairly unique gardening style, her primary rationale for ...

Back in print!!!!!
This legendary book is back in print! Hurray! Those of us who knew this book in previous incarnations are SO GLAD. Now we can replace our falling apart copies, and send it as presents to kindred spirits. Tightly written there is no padding in this book. Its all very useful and so well written that I've often gotten involved in reading it even when I had already found what I was looking for, or ...

Our Sufficiency in Christ8 reviews
John MacArthur

Crossway Books, 1998

El Shaddai "The All Suffient One"
Not that we are competent of ourselves to claim anything as coming from us; our competence is from God, (2 Corinthians 3:5 RSV) John MacArthur argues that many local churches and God's followers do not trust in the sufficiency in Christ. The minister believes in the authority of God's word; They believe in salvation through the blood of Jesus Christ and as a guide for righteous living. They ...

The Complete Book of Edible Landscaping: Home Landscaping with Food-Bearing Plants and Resource-Saving ...6 reviews
Rosalind Creasy

Sierra Club Books, 1982

Excellent book !
I grew up in a garden designed using this book, and now I am working on designing my own. It is a teriffic book with a lot of information about different edible plants and how to design an edible landscape. The only drawbacks are (1) it's a bit dated (new smaller rootstalks let you have smaller trees than you could in '82) and (2) it's a little bit california-centric.
