Infinity Gauntlet28 reviews
Jim Starlin, George Perez

Marvel Comics, 2002

one of the greatest TPB's of all time
If you like comic book deities even a slight bit, or even modern or ancient human deities, then this book is for you. Struggles are all of cosmic proportion. I love the reference to all Earth's ancient religion gods as gods who are but a drop in the bucket compared to some of the forces at work here. Even though its a comic book, it tells it like it is. Us, as human beings, can lay no claim ...

The Ultimates 2, Vol. 1: Gods and Monsters23 reviews
Mark Millar, Bryan Hitch

Marvel Comics, 2005

better than the 3rd installment
The writing is excellent as is the artwork. I love that the characters were drawn to look like actual people instead of the ridiculous animetoons in the third installment. Its a really brilliant story line. I love the sub plot about giant man's failed superhero career and how low he's sunk. I would highly recommend this item.

Wonder Woman Masterpiece Edition: The Golden Age of the Amazon Princess21 reviews
Les Daniels

Chronicle Books, 2001

"The Complete History of Wonder Woman" an Excellent Comic Book History Book
"The Complete History of Wonder Woman" by Lee Daniels was a great book. It gives the full history of the character from the beginning up to the present when the book was written a few years ago. Of course, the newly started current "Wonder Woman" series is not covered in this book. This book also gives a history of the creator of Wonder Woman, Dr. William Moulton Marsdon who went by the ...

Tales of The Red Panda: The Crime Cabal36 reviews
Gregg Taylor

BookSurge Publishing, 2009

Voices were in my head
I've been listening to DecoderRingTheatre's The Red Panda Adventures for long time now, and as a fan of course I had to get my grubby hands on this book. Once I got it, I started reading it, and I couldn't put it down until I had finished it. It was a true page-turner for me. And the voices of the characters were in my head while I was reading it. After I finished it I could've sworn that I had ...

Spider-Man: The Ultimate Guide35 reviews
Tom DeFalco, Stan Lee

DK CHILDREN, 2001

Spider Man
This book was purchased for a great nephew who checks it out of the library over and over again. His grandmother told me that he has had it off and on for a year because he loves it. So I decided to give it to him for Christmas. Now he will have his very own copy of the book to keep forever. He knows the book from the beginning to the end.

Superhero ABC29 reviews
Bob McLeod, 2009

S is for "Speedy Boy"...
Who is seriously stoked about his new SuperHero book! My 4 year old son has been running around the house likey Speedy Boy (who comes from another book) since I brought this home. The full color pages are beautiful and bright, there are some great, new, large vocabulary words that are easy for the kids to understand because of the context the pictures give the reader. I think another reviewer ...

Invincible: The Ultimate Collection, Vol. 131 reviews
Robert Kirkman, Cory Walker, ...

Image Comics, 2005

One of my favs
I'm not going to recap the story since a ton of people have already done that. I'm just going to throw my two cents in on the book as a whole. I love this series. I have the first four ultimate collections, and of all of the pre-orders I'm waiting on I am most excited about vol. 5 of Invincible. I generally hate super hero comics, but this one is just great. The writing is funny, the art is ...

The Best of Simon and Kirby21 reviews
Joe Simon, Jack Kirby

Titan Books, 2009

A great overview of the greatest team
When it comes to comics, no one will ever touch the work of Joe Simon and Jack Kirby. Not only did the create amazing comic books full of action, drama and intrigue, they practically invented the form. This long overdue collection presents a sampling of Simon and Kirby's work from the myriad of genres that the two worked in (some of which they pioneered). The superhero stories are amazing, ...

Absolute Batman: The Long Halloween15 reviews
Jeph Loeb

DC Comics, 2007

Book is Excellent: Amazon kinda sucks
There's nothing more i can say about this book, but this is the second time that amazon sent me a dented book. That's pretty lousy when you're paying nearly fifty bucks! I recommend buying from a third party: they're generally more careful with shipping.

Amazing Spider-Man Omnibus, Vol. 1 (v. 1)18 reviews
Stan Lee, Steve Ditko

Marvel Comics, 2007

Complete your collection
First off, I had previously purchased the Captain America Omnibus, Vol. 1 HC so I can finally read those great early Ed Brubaker stories. While I still haven't removed the shrink-wrap on that book, this Spider-Man book was opened immediately. It does not have said shrink-wrap, probably because there wasn't enough to put around it. This is the largest bound book that I have ever seen in my life! ...

Starman: Sins Of The Father18 reviews
James Robinson

San Val, 1996

up there with Moore and Busiek
Almost everyone in comics got the wrong message from "Watchmen" and "The Dark Knight Returns." Rather than learning that superhero comics could be about more than adolescent fantasies they simply embraced the violence of those books and created comics that catered to a darker set of adolescent fantasies than the old Superman or Spiderman comics did. Comics didn't grow up; they just went from ...

If you love the DC Universe and/or JLA this is a must have!
As the title says this book is a must have if you are a fan of the staple DC heroes at all. The World's Greatest Super-Heroes is part comic, part encyclopedia giving you a good story as well as the background on some of the oldest super-heroes in the industry. Silver Surfer: Requiem16 reviews
J. Michael Straczynski

Marvel Comics, 2008

The most beautiful comic I've ever read.
Quite simply this was one of the most beautiful comic books I've ever read. I had never been a big fan of the Surfer, but the Annihilation event changed all that. Sadly, just when I became a fan Marvel decided to put him to rest. However, they did so with style. Unlike Captain America's demise this touched me. Some will critique the story for its idealistic notions of peace and love, but I ...

Fantastic Four Omnibus, Vol. 1 (v. 1)16 reviews
Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, ...

Marvel Comics, 2005

Stan Lee holds up far better than expected: real american Visionary
I really didn't expect to enjoy these early FF issues as much I did! I loved them! In fact, I had no idea what a visionary brilliant writer Stan Lee was or what he accomplished in the sixties, before I was even born! Nay, I only read the eighties stuff, but I always wanted to read back from the beginning. Well, these omnibus editions give you the best way of catching up on the classic runs ...

The Doom Patrol Archives, Vol. 1 (DC Archive Editions)15 reviews
Arnold Drake

DC Comics, 2002

A wonderful and influential, but sadly ignored, Silver Age masterpiece
A group of disgruntled social outcasts with super powers comes under the guidance of a wheel-chair bound genius and is frequently called on to save a general populace they increasingly grow to despise. You got it...the X-Men, right? Nope. The Doom Patrol. The comparisons are immediate and striking (The Chief/Professor X, The Brotherhood of Evil/The Brotherhood of Evil Mutants), and given ...
