GREAT BOOKS!
Chicken Soup the Real Deal: Friends I just recently read Chicken Soup the Real Deal: Friends. This book is a very good book. It tells many stories of people who are really close to others, or have had a problem with friends in the past. I think that Chicken Soup books are very easy to read, it also doesn't take long to read them if you can relate to the stories in them. I have always loved ...

April Robins, Celeste Robins, ...

AuthorHouse, 2007

Great bedtime story
I read this to the grand son at bedtime and he started repeating the line "where is my bennie?" every time I finished one of the search areas. He really liked it. This a good book to read at bed time.

The Best Seat in Second Grade (I Can Read Book 2)3 reviews
Katharine Kenah

HarperCollins, 2005

Humor for a Second Grader
I bought this book for my grandson who has just completed the first gade. I think the book is funny. The vocabulary is easy enough and the illustrations are excellent. Even without them, a beginning reader can picture everything. It contains a strong appeal to the senses, and the situations are easy for a second gader to relate to. I highly recommend this book.

My Best Sweet Potato3 reviews

Atheneum, 2006

My Best Sweet Potato - Beautiful and Excellent
"My Best Sweet Potato" is a magnificently illustrated book with soft colors and amazing drawings. Small children love it. Not to be outdone by the drawings, the story is also very touching. What child doesn't have a favorite stuffed toy who you as a parent are terrified will be lost? Follow this simple but beautiful and understandable story and you'll be sad and happy. I highly recommed this ...

Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 8 #11: A Beautiful Sunset (Dark Horse Comics)2 reviews
Joss Whedon

Dark Horse Comics, 2008

Think "Conversations With Dead People." The Big Bad, Twilight, Reveals Himself to the Scoobs
Joss Whedon is back in a big way. If you've entertained the idea that he might have "lost his touch," get ready to be wrong. Joss scores another 100 points for this one-shot comic, "A Beautiful Sunset," which has a lot of stuff we've been waiting a long time for. + Buffy fights the Big Bad of the season for the first time, which is always entertaining. The fight/flying scenes are the ...

Angel Falls: Life is a game to be lost by those best at it.1 review
Oliver Dick

iUniverse, Inc., 2006

Worth Reading
Angel Falls covers a surprising number of philosophical topics including religion, racism, nature vs. nurture, and predestination in a concise read, tied together with a story of two very different (yet both morally upstanding) individuals. Part I is written like non-fiction while Part II steps into a somewhat supernatural future.

Found II: More of the Best Lost, Tossed, and Forgotten Items from Around the World15 reviews
Davy Rothbart

Fireside, 2006

FOUND II is a great find!
Found II is a great book! I absolutely love it. There are plenty of letters, notes, photos, lists, papers and other oddities that people have left behind. I like how they set the book up, too. They group a few things together that have the same idea/theme. The only thing I thought would make this book SOOOO much better, is if it was in color. But aside from that, I LOVE IT. I will be buying FOUND ...

The lost weekend (The Modern library of the world's best books [258])9 reviews
Charles Jackson

Modern Library, 1948

One of the very best American novels
I read "The Lost Weekend" after seeing the fine movie starring Ray Milland. The movie gripped me, and hit close to home, but I felt that there was a quality to the writing that made me seek out the book (which was out of print at the time). Boy, am I glad I did. "The Lost Weekend" is an absolute literary masterpiece, capturing a 5-day drunk from an inveterate alcoholic with such chilling accuracy ...

Found: The Best Lost, Tossed, And Forgotten Items from Around the World54 reviews
Davy Rothbart

Topeka Bindery, 2004

A PEEK INTO OTHER PEOPLE'S LIVES....
I love this book. I did wish that it was in color, but the pictures and the notes are so voyeristic, I almost felt guilty for reading them! My favorite was the one where the mom and son were writing sitcky notes to each other about these scrambled eggs that had been in the refrigerater. And a grocery list that included 1 lb of Heroin....oddly interesting. I noticed that some of the names looked ...

Americas Best Lost Recipes: 121 heirloom recipes too good to forget22 reviews
The Editors of Cook's Country Magazine

Cook's Illustrated, 2007

Wonderful recipes and wonderful stories
I got this from the library and then had to order it. I've tried four recipes and they are all wonderful. My husband, who doesn't really like ham, loved the Ham Pie. The Blueberry bait boy is wonderful. The Kolaches were very tasty, low in calories and little sugar. The Ruskas were good (although could use a little more spice)but the dough was amazing and I'm going to use it in other recipes. ...

Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 8 #9: No Future For You Part Four (Dark Horse Comics)2 reviews
Joss Whedan

Dark Horse, 2007

BKV Brings His "Faith Arc" to a Close
This issue had a lot riding on it. As it is the climax of "No Future For You," it had to be more intense, more poignant, and overall better than the first three issues of this arc. It also had to live up to Issue #4, the issue that ended "The Long Way Home" arc. This issue, despite how good the other three were, is the last statement that this arc is going to make, so it had to be the most ...

Lost horizon (The Collector's library of the world's best-loved books)96 reviews
James Hilton

franklin library, 1981

My favorite book of all time
I think the first thing that struck me was how timeless this story is, the search for a personal utopia, the subtle morality, the ideal of moderation. The quotes struck me as so appropriate for the modern age, even though the book was written in 1933. "laziness in doing stupid things is quite a virtue." "Time enough for everything" and the ever popular "the meek shall inherit the world," an old ...

The Best of Bombeck: At Wit's End, Just Wait Until You Have Children of Your Own, I Lost Everything in the ...4 reviews
Erma Bombeck

BBS Publishing Corporation, 1994

PLEASE-give Erma to future generations!
Erma Bombeck will always be one of my heroes. I still have her picture from the cover of Time magazine hanging on my "Wall of Fame" in my laundry room, along with my college diploma, a picture of the first woman to run for Vice-President, and various cards with special significance from family and friends. When I was a young mom, her writing always reminded me that laughter is better than tears. ...
