Mattimeo (Tale of Redwall)214 reviews
Brian Jacques

Red Fox, 2006

EXCELLENT! 10/10!
This is either the best or the second best Redwall book. It's the direct sequel to the Original Redwall, so there will be a lot of familier characters. Complete with 3 huge battles, a cruel monster that lurks in the dark, and an evil slaver named Slager, this book is ultimate, and I highly reccomend it!

Tomorrow, When the War Began (The Tomorrow Series #1)157 reviews
John Marsden

Bolinda Publishing, 2004

so exciting!!
John Marsden has done an excellent job creating a great and exciting story about friendship, war, and love. I have read all the books in this series and I was so mad when it ended. You feel so close to the charactors that when it's over, its heartbreaking. I wish I could meet every one of the charactors on the book. This series truly has changed my life. I've learned so much and it has changed ...

You Are Special176 reviews
Max Lucado

Candle Books, 2004

Beautiful book, wonderful message.
I bought this as a gift for my nieces after receiving it as a gift myself. It is a wonderful message for kids, that they are special because of who they are, not because of what others think of them.

I've read it over ten times
Since I first read this book over 15 years ago I've read the book over 10 times. I read it three times the first year. I felt it was an amazing story, very touching, and able to tug at me each time I read it. The strength and courage that the author had was amazing.

Ella Enchanted (Trophy Newbery)1143 reviews
Gail Carson Levine

HarperCollins, 1998

Loved This
Great book. Read this when I was a kid and still remembered it years later when the movie came out. Great story complicated enough to interest a young teen, but entertaining enough to keep a kid reading. Great message for 10-13 year olds.

The Last of the Really Great Whangdoodles 30th Anniversary Edition263 reviews
Julie Andrews Edwards

HarperCollins, 1989

Whangdoodley AMAZING
This is a very rare book, luckily I came across it in 5th grade, and it was definitely a book to die for. It was an accurate, unique, and imaginative story about two children who befriend a strange and creative man who introduces them to a world filled of new and unique animals, plants, and many different things. This world could only be realistic if you imagined it. Soon they found themselves in ...

Harold and the Purple Crayon155 reviews
Crockett Johnson

Bloomsbury Publishing PLC, 1996

This book is a page turner
There are some novels that you pick up and just can't put down. Harold and the Purple Crayon is a page turner in an adolescent way. It's just too much fun, and at 64 page count it's a novel for toddlers. There are elements of surprise, suspense, humor and adventure, you turn the page just to find out what happens next. This classic story flows like water with no interruptions. It's no surprise ...

The Lorax (Classic Seuss)132 reviews
Dr. Seuss, Theodor Seuss Geisel

Random House Books for Young Readers, 1971

The Sound of Living Down Slow Into the Ground
There's not much to say, so many things to write About this book by Seuss, a zinger with a theme that's less than trite As usual he invents words and things and animals to delight There's no stopping his inventiveness, his genius gives me to fright But read on I must, and so must you For he offers a commentary on the world around too It isn't so sweet really, and the kids would do well To ...

Salamandastron (Redwall)136 reviews
Brian Jacques

Great!
At one time, this was my favorite redwall book. It was also the first redwall book I read all of. In this book, the fearless badger lord Urthstripe the Strong leads his army of long patrol hares in a battle against the cruel Ferahgo the Assasin. Read this book, it's great!

Alicia124 reviews
Alicia Appleman-Jurman

Bantam Press, 1990

Heart wrenching
I had a hard time putting this book down! It is amazing, and horrible, the things that this woman went through as a child, and I am so grateful she relived the nightmare so that we might know what went on.

Great book series

Winterdance: The Fine Madness of Running the Iditarod149 reviews
Gary Paulsen

Harvest Books, 1995

A wonderful account
Wow, this book was amazing. I didn't know much about the Iditarod, and the author was very informative. But to say that makes it sound boring, which it was not! I always thought dog-sledding was just going straight through the snow/ice. Boy was I ever wrong. From being dragged for miles to dropping off cliffs, sled, dogs, musher and all... Paulsen is an excellent storyteller. You couldn't find a ...

True Story of the 3 Little Pigs150 reviews
Jon Scieszka

Viking Children's Books, 1991

Loved reading this as a kid
I read this book aloud at my kindergarten graduation (we did a play with the 3 little wolves and this story worked together) and after watching the video of that recently it reminded me of how much I loved this story and I think because of stories like this and the 3 little wolves story I learned to think outside the box and love things that aren't the norm. I encourage any parent to read this ...

The Goose Girl124 reviews
Shannon Hale

Bloomsbury Publishing PLC, 2009

I <3ed dis BOOK!!!!!!!
Goose Girl by Shannon Hall is like a realistic fairytale. Sure, it has its share of magic, but everything just feels so possible and there is such a struggle for finding one's place. Princess Anidora is such an inspiring character because her problems don't just solve themselves and she needs the help of others. Ani, also known as Isi, is someone that you want to sympathize with because to be ...

HOUSE TO HOUSE147 reviews
David Bellavia

Simon & Schuster, 2007

Every "American" must read this!!!!!!
After trying to understand for years even a small fraction of what is actually going on in Iraq and what happened in Fallujah, this book is a blessing. Not only is a it a great account to the things we all must know before we turn on CNN for the guide to our lives, it's also a great story in general.. It will steal you heart, if you have one. It's very easy to read and holds your attention ...
