Inspiring and Enlightening
Dr. Kaku presents another outstanding book to expand our minds to endless possibilities. Why limit ourselves when we need, more than ever, to think out of the box, and ask the big "what if" questions. In my own writing, vis-i-vis, The Ninth Cube, I have tried to answer these questions, alot of them inspired from the work of Dr. Kaku. I throughly enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone. ...

Loved every minute
I first read this book when I was about sixteen and have been hooked ever since. I love the entire series. It's such a fresh idea that you can actually get SOME knowledge from a fiction book. Certrainly this a romance but it's SO much more. I read the entire series about once a year. For those of you who have criticims for this book, please head to your local bookstore and pick up something by ...

A Trip Down Memory Lane
My son has been raving about Bill Bryson's for some time now, but I was not sure that they would appeal to me. After hearing others rave about his memoir: The Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid, I thought this might be a fun audio book. I am sorry I waited so long to try Bryson's work. This memoir was terrific. It leaves you with a feeling of appreciation for the simple things in life. Bill ...

A wonderful book!!!
I was in 4th grade when my mom first forced me to read this book with her. I did not want to at all, because I thought it looked stupid. Luckily, she didn't give me much of a choice. If she had, I never would have read one of my favorite books or discovered one of my very favorite authors! Really, everyone should give this book a chance! I am now in my 20's and will soon be a teacher. It is a ...

An Excellent Introduction to this Writer
Unfortunately, this inspired writer recently died. I encourage ALL to review her works. This novel was my introduction to Octavia E. Butler, and I would advise any enthusiasts of speculative and science fiction to investigate it, and her multiple works!

Do-over
This time travel (sort of) novel was an unexpected pleasure. An absolutely ordinary, out-of-shape, going nowhere guy named Jeff Winston has a heart attack at his desk and dies. But he awakes suddenly--in his life of 25 years before. Replay is the story of his several lives--a life where money is the sole object, a life where Jeff's only child is his focus, a life of solitude in the mountains. ...

Essential Vonnegut, still relevant today...
I don't care who you are, you absolutely need to read this book. It's justly considered a classic. The thing about it is that it isn't really a "humor book" like some of Vonnegut's other, justly famous works (Cat's Cradle, Breakfast of Champions, God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater). Parts of it are funny - I especially like the segments with the bitter Kilgore Trout, a sci-fi author reputed to be one ...

Interesting read with a few great points
This is a book that you'll either love or hate. Timothy has a good writing style, and has plenty of great ideas, however some are quite controversial and I'd expect some people would dismiss them quickly. I didn't agree with all of them (hey, it'd be hard to agree completely to any book), yet they were well presented, and it certainly makes you think about how you spend your life.

well written cerebral sci fi
In Seattle, three people (Ginny, Jack, and Max) separately and with no seeming connection see a newspaper ad that stuns them. The advertisement states: "Do you dream of a city at the end of time?" Each can answer in the affirmative as they have had visions of a dark desolate landscape of a devastated wasteland; they also share in common a form of amnesia in which none of them know anything ...

My favorite book of the series!!!
While working at a bookstore, I decided that I needed to read one sci-fi and one romance novel just to get a feel for the genre. I selected Diana Gabaldon's "Outlander" for the romance novel, and was absolutely captivated by her story and style. I devoured the first three books in less than six weeks--an amazing feat for me as a slow reader with sight impairments--and have started at least 200 ...

I am a self-admitted book-a-holic, and for a book to keep me up and guessing - that's saying a lot. For a book to completely surprise me - that is saying even more. For a book to challenge me intellectually and make me laugh out loud in parts - to be cerebral and totally cool at the same time - sheer delight! How did Selden Edwards pull THAT off? This book makes me want to sit down with the ...

WELL WRITTEN, REWARDING READ!
An interesting story that will leave you happy to have read it, Oracle Bones is worth the time. A country is best learned about by living with the people; something the author has done. Furthermore, he is able to relate the feeling of China in a way that is accessible and entertaining. Thankfully without cliche. . . for example, never does Hessler mention the "raising importance of ...

Brilliant
One review stated " It Will Change the Way You Look at the Universe!" I have found this to be true and at a young age, it definitely sparked my interest in conceptual physics. I own this book in hardback and have found that the illustrations go a long way in explaining the content. A Brief History of Time explains a range of subjects in cosmology, including the Big Bang, black holes, light ...

Enthralled!
I just finished reading "The Fiery Cross" and I was totally enthralled with it from beginning to end. I, of course, have read the first four books. Twice actually. This one was my favorite. The other books are excellent and exciting. What I really like about "The Fiery Cross" is that it really digs into each of the characters. You really get to know each of them. Like them or not, they're ...

Historical Adventure...I Love It
Diana Gabaldon is an amazing story teller. I really enjoyed this the fourth installment in the Outlander series. I don't know what I could say about this book that someone hasn't already said. I will add my two cents and say that I like the character Brianna. I think that it's important to put into perspective that she comes from a time when people aren't considered adults at the ripe old ...

Dragonfly in Amber is the second book in Diana Gabaldon's phenomenal "Outlander" series. At the end of Outlander, we left Claire and Jamie Fraser in an abbey in France, exiled from Scotland. At the opening of Dragonfly in Amber, we find Claire back in the highlands in 1968, investigating the fates of Jamie's men at the battle of Culloden - with her red-haired daughter Brianna: Jamie's daughter. ...
