Arthur Spiderwick's Field Guide to the Fantastical World Around You (Spiderwick Chronicles) 67 reviews Holly Black, Tony DiTerlizzi
Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing, 2005
Fabulous Reading I bought this for my 6 year old son. He can read most words but the font and many of the words are too hard for him. I knew that though when I bought it. He loves reading the parts he can and he sits for hours just looking at the pictures and using his imagination. I look forward to him enjoying this book for many years. It is always something new and fun when he picks it up.

The Tale of Three Trees 84 reviews Angela Elwell Hunt, Tim Jonke
Lion Hudson Plc, 2002
Add this to your personal library to counter what is probably already in your child's public library. This is a beautiful story that parents should consider repeatedly sharing with their children for them to cherish, now more than ever...
Having just attended an introductory master of library and information sciences course where the discussion about children's books centered around the ethics of circumventing parental authority in dispensing gay-lesbian-bisexual-transgender-queer books ...

The Country Bunny And The Little Gold Shoes As Told To Jenifer (Turtleback School & Library Binding Edition) ... 54 reviews Dubose Heyward
Turtleback, 1974
All time favorite "The Country Bunny" was a favorite for me as a child, my children enjoyed it and now I am buying a copy for all my grandkids. The art is old fashioned, but the message is ageless. It's the old story that if you really want to do something you can find a way. Mother bunny was a great organizer, feminist and accomplished much, but it was her caring about others that helped her succeed in the ...

The Kingdoms and the Elves of the Reaches III (Keeper Martin's Tales, Book 3, Special Illustrated Edition) 94 reviews Robert Stanek
Reagent Press Echo, 2008
Exciting continuation This is the third book in the Keeper Martin's Tales series. So much happens in the first two books you have to read them to see for yourself. In this one, there's even more action and adventure. As with the first two, there are a few mysteries as well. It's amazing and even better on the second or third read.

Definitely a great read, and a must buy for any age.

The Glory of Their Times : The Story of Baseball Told By the Men Who Played It 79 reviews Lawrence S. Ritter
Harper Perennial, 1992
Oh, How They Played the Game! "The Glory of their Times" is a book of personality, a book of passion, in which 22 baseball players of the 1890s to the 1930s tell their stories. Originally taped by Lawrence Ritter in the 1960s, these oral remembrances are now very valuable. There are no longer any live witnesses of the earlier times. The later times are fast escaping conscious memory, setting aside the contribution of Paul ...

HarperAudio, 1997
Writing about Love This is a brilliant little book about how the love bug can strike each and every one of us in unique ways. It's an easy read that can be digested not just by the scholar but by the common man. It's a hopeful book. More books like this should be written. Jeffrey McAndrew author of "Our Brown-Eyed Boy"

Great insight into the hunt for Saddam This is a fantastic book and should be read by anyone with any interest in intelligence, the war in Iraq, interrogation, or current events.
I think we can all remember when we first saw the pictures of Saddam. The former dictator, with a scraggly beard and a look of defeat on his face, wasn't found by rare chance or good luck, he was caught by hard work by our military and especially SSG ...

Malachy Murray's Unique New York Having had the experience of having Malachy Murray as a tour guide on a Circle Line Hudson river cruise I had to purchase this book because this guy is one hell of a story teller. The Road to Avalon 24 reviews Joan Wolf
New American Library, 1989
Excellent version of the Arthur legends This was a great read -- I could not put it down. It was wonderful to start with the young Arthur and the experiences that made him the man - king -- that he was. The love story between Arthur and Morgan is truly heartbreaking and will bring tears to your eyes. The scene where Arthur comes face to face with the son he didn't know he had is gut wrenching.
I highly recommend this book, as well ...

The Complete Tales of Uncle Remus 25 reviews Joel Chandler Harris
Houghton Mifflin Company Boston, 1955
An American Classis as it should be! Joel Chandler Harris was a child in the years preceding the Civil War and a teenager when the war ended. He immersed himself in the slaves' world, learning their stories and their language. Starting in 1880 and continuing throughout his life, Harris published these stories. He wrote them the way they were told and as he heard them. In doing so, he preserved a sound of life that has all but ...
