A CLASSIC THAT SHOULD NOT BE LOST
The Country Bunny and the Little Gold Shoes by DuBose Heyward and illustrated by Marjorie Hack has been around for yours. In fact, it made its first appearance in 1939 and has gone through several printings since that time. The latest one I could find was 1974, which is far too long ago, as this is one that we had better not loose. Briefly, this is the story of a little brown country bunny ...

Full praise to the author for yet another amazing installment in the story of the Kingdoms. It is a rare and wonderful author that can deliver time after time yet Robert Stanek managed to do just that. Anyone who has the time to read this book should because it is well worth it in every single way possible to imagine!!! Trust me and my fellow Kingdoms and the Elves fans!

There is something absolutely timeless about this story--that is probably where the "traditional folktale" bit comes in. I'm not sure just how old the story itself is but I can see why it is still loved today. Ms. Hunt does an incredible job retelling this meaningful and beautiful story of a connection with Jesus Christ through sweet, emotional prose and fantastic pictures. Definitely a keeper.

Just keep getting better and better
After reading The Savage Damsel and the Dwarf I went back to Malory -- Lynet was just like in Morris' book, constantly digging at Beaumains and harping on having a kitchen boy substitute for a real Arthurian knight. After reading the first three books Morris has written in The Squire's Tales, I broke down and bought all he's written to date -- in hard cover. They are absolutely delightful, ...

Find Joy In the Most Desparate of Situations
Change Me Into Zeus's Daughter is a powerful and poignant story of impoverished life as experienced by Barbara Moss. Surrounded by poverty, alcoholism, abuse, malnutrition and facial deformities, Moss could easily have allowed herself to be trapped in that negative world. Instead, through determination and the kindness of a few strangers along the way, she rose above adversity and has been ...

Baseball's Old Testament
Statistically, baseball back then couldn't be more at variance with the game now. Cy Young threw 511 career victories, and 750 complete games. In 1909, Ty Cobb led the majors both in batting average (.377) and home runs (9). Cobb's teammate Sam Crawford hit over 300 triples in his career. What to make of such numbers? Lawrence S. Ritter's "The Glory Of Their Times" strips away the statistical ...

Save the Cat has done it once again, but this time on a much higher scale. After a great introduction to the BS2 (Blake Snyder's Beat Sheet) and a few extras, Blake includes a beat-for-beat layout of various films in 10 popular Hollywood genres. Excellent purchase! I'm convinced these books will give me the knowledge I need to succeed and I recommend 'Save The Cat' for anyone interested in ...

I must make one correction in my story in the book.
Of course you'll love this book because it's a true reflection of so many facets of romantic love. And I also personally love it because I wrote the story in it about Danny O'Neal. I don't remember the title of the story, but I'll never forget my accurate description of Danny "He was like Peter O'Toole with a double dose of testorone and a Tommy Lee Jones smile." (:sweet memory and sigh here.:) ...

Folk tales (and then some)
Italo Calvino is mostly known for being a brilliant magical realist. But he also collected two hundred Italian folk and fairy tales in "Italian Folktales," apparently because a publisher wanted a sort of Italian Grimm. The resulting collection is actually better than your average fairy tales -- full of the cute, bizarre and funny. Basically, we have the usual collections of folk-tale oddities ...

Kudos to Ray Cattie on penning a very good summer read! ARD RIGH: THE SWORD ON THE STONE is the a fast-paced story of King Arthur, telling the story of the true person who might have actually been King Arthur! Cattie uses his historical facts well, blending them with the elements that we King Arthur fans already know, creating a new and unique look at this famous founder of the Knights of the ...

Handcrafted Quality
They don't make books like they used to - or, so i thought, until i bought this elegant edition of The Arabian nights. Beautifully bound, printed on high-quality paper, with an erudite introduction, and clear, but stylish font, I thought how appropriate for the publisher to release a classic such as The Arabian nights in such a 'classic' style, hearkening back to a time when great care was put ...

An excellent book to bridge the gap between childhood fantasy and adult reality
If there is a better book suited to bridge the gap between children and adults, then I have yet to see it. In this book, all aspects of the lives of gnomes are presented, from their physical attributes to the way they interact with nature. In between you will also learn about their economy, diet, their dwellings, social and family structures, how they court, and the games their children play and ...

Tour de Force
This book cries out for a different rating system - perhaps a 1-10 scale. Even then one would have to reward an "11" for this magnificent tome.
