Traveling Mercies: Some Thoughts on Faith304 reviews
Anne Lamott

Anchor, 2000

Close to the bone
Brutally honest, endearingly quirky, funny as the dickens, and turning on dimes to catch a reader's heart by surprise. This little volume is a treasure. From discussion of her formative years and early losses, through alcoholism and on into single parenting, Lamott holds nothing back. Her prayers, her curses, her neuroses, her blessings, are all laid out for inspection. Through it, despite her ...

Annie Freeman's Fabulous Traveling Funeral85 reviews
Kris Radish

Bantam, 2006

Funeral that is a "Hoot"
What a way to go! This is funny, touching, and thought provoking. Our book club discussed it and what an interesting discussion--how do we want to be remembered, what is important to us etc. I felt the trip was a little long, maybe just two or three stops to scatter ashes.

Ann Brashares

Dell Books for Young Readers, 2007

Great!
I absolutely love this series on the traveling pants. While it's been many years since I was a teenager, it's not hard to remember feeling the emotions these girls feel. These books are so well written, following along as the girls grow and mature through various life situations and stages. You cry and you laugh. I highly recommend this entire series.

Ann Brashares

Dell Books for Young Readers, 2006

Great Summer Read!
I just finished reading this book. This book tells of the girls hardships and friendship over the next summer. Ann Brashares did a great job with this book. I really would recommend this to anybody, but you probably want to read the first one first. I was totally interesting in reading this book and couldn't keep it down. It truly was an amazing book. Lena falls back in love with Kostos but he ...

Travels with Baby: The Ultimate Guide for Planning Trips with Babies, Toddlers, and Preschool-Age Children16 reviews
Shelly Rivoli

Travels with Baby Books, 2007

Well-written and much-needed guide
This book has some great suggestions for different types of travel (overseas, on a cruise ship, camping, etc) with recommendations for the type of travel that is best for different ages. I found several products recommendations very helpful, and saved myself from disaster by reading about the documentation my baby will need when we go to Peru without my husband. Other gems were about ...

Ann Brashares

Delacorte Books for Young Readers, 2008

Great way to end the series!
This whole series of books is amazing. This book really wraps things up nicely, although it did leave me wanting more. :( It is a page-turner. I couldn't put it down and stayed up all night reading it. The author writes in a way that gets you attached to each character. A must-read!

Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants (Sisterhood of Traveling Pants, Book 1)1007 reviews
Ann Brashares

Dell Books for Young Readers, 2005

Great book...mid-teens and up
Excellent book with well developed characters. I was so happy when I found out there were three more books in the series. You really want to read about the characters again. There are some sexual references in the book, but nothing graphic so reader discretion advised. There are some good life lessons and the characters seem real.

Mr. Fooster Traveling on a Whim3 reviews
Tom Corwin

Flying Dolphin Press, 2008

A lovely and magical little book
Mr. Fooster is truly a beautiful book. The simple story follows no rules, taking you on a series of journeys where you never know what's around the next corner. There is nothing predictable about it, each page reveals another little surprise, from a bubble that turns into flying fish to the lead character sprouting roots and becoming a tree. Corwin delivers a message without preaching - it's ...

Traveling With Your Pet, 10th Edition: The AAA Petbook (Traveling With Your Pet)11 reviews
AAA

AAA, 2008

Traveling with Your Pet by AAA
Excellent, accurate book that allowed us to plan our trip without worrying about where to stay with our pet. I loaned it to a friend who was traveling out west and they loved the book so much I gave it to them and now have to buy another copy! I keep it on file should we ever have to evacuate due to a hurricane. We'll all go to the same hotel with our pets!

Traveling Music: Playing Back the Soundtrack to My Life and Times45 reviews
Neil Peart

Ecw Press, 2004

Disguised As a "Travel Book"
This book is by far the best book Neil Peart has written. This book is more biographical, in a very musical sense, than a travel book. What I mean by this is that Neil writes about his travels to the Big Bend area in South West Texas, several excursions he took while on that trip, such as a bird watching tour, and a hike up Emory Peak, etc. But the bulk of the content in this work is about his ...

Adventure & Applique: Traveling the World With Award-winning Quilter Suzanne Marshall12 reviews
Suzanne Marshall

American Quilter's Society, 2007

Would give ten stars if possible.
I buy a good number of quilting books each year, and this is one of my absolute favorites. It was not only inspiring to me as a quilter, but it was very interesting to read the story of each quilt. Ms. Marshall's quilts are spectacular. I also like the format she uses, showing what comments were made by judges for each of the works shown. I highly recommend this wonderful book.

How to Fit a Car Seat on a Camel: And Other Misadventures Traveling with Kids2 reviews

Seal Press, 2008

Fabulous. Hilarious Stories
I used to read a story from this book as I lulled my little girl to sleep and more often than not I woke her up as my body couldn't contain the laughter from these stories. As a new parent reading becomes difficult if not impossible and these stories are short and fun. Waiting for a sequel of stories ..

See Sally Kick Ass: A Woman's Guide to Personal Safety10 reviews
Fred Vogt

Outskirts Press, 2006

A great self defense/safety book
I highly recommend this book. It is very well written and useful. The section on tips for avoiding problems is especially great, it gives many great ideas that I had not considered. Such as if someone is sitting on the passenger side of the car parked next to yours to go to your passenger side and enter there and slide over so the person cannot get out and easily grab you. The author makes ...
