Complex and Compelling
Vonnegut's novel is about life, thought process, and death set against the author's life experiences in Dresden during WWII and his fictional character, Billy, who we see through memories and partial linear plot line. In my opinion, the story, however; very important, is not the point of this novel. Vonnegut used the novel as a vehicle to show us the purpose of being human which is life, ...

Don't rush the exercises, enjoy in small doses
This is an excellent book which includes many, many details and suggested exercises. My suggestion is to read the book all the way through once, then start working on the exercises, slowly, otherwise it can be a bit too much to really get a handle on. Awesome, so worth the money spent to purchase it.

Dense but understandable
Eat This Not That!: Thousands of Simple Food Swaps That Can Save You 10, 20, 30 Pounds-or More! By Dense, I mean fact filled, not hard to read or understand. Clever illustrations break up the food and serving related facts that we all benefit from being familiar with. Especially when it comes to sorting through the advertising and the terms used by the restaurant chains to present their offerings ...

Just exceptional
Written apparently by a specialist in reviews of New York City cocktails, "Dear American Airlines" is a book that recalls A.J. Liebling's comment that "wine drinking is more subjective than horse racing and nearly as subjective as love". This is a phenomenal book I say, knowing that the combinations of New Orleans, New York, mid-50's life age-wise, and a long airport layover could make me a ...

Shapes of States...Why is that border there?
I love this book! It is well-written in a straight forward yet interesting manner. I am sort of a map nut/geography/ history fanatic. We carry the book in the car to read when we are driving around and I plan to include the book in the resources for my social studies classes. It's a fun book to keep in a guest room or in the bathroom. The information about the creation of boundries is also ...

A MUST for any past, present or future hiker
Heard A WALK IN THE WOODS, written and read by Bill Bryson It is the true tale of the author's attempt to walk the 2,100 Appalachian Trail, which stretches from Georgia to Maine . . . although he ultimately was not successful in completing the entire AT (as it is called), it wasn't for lack of trying. You'll find yourself actually laughing out loud at much of his account . . . also, ...

I bought the set as a gift for my nephew, whom is in second grade. Hoping to spark his interest in reading. Unexpected, but enjoyable.
I will warn all of you future readers: this is a great book and is rather historical in content. Contrary to my common thought that this whole book was bashing the fast food industry, it really did neither. Instead he really shows how fast food originated, how it affects industry (especially industrial agriculture), and why we love it so much. Fast food infiltrates everyday life for much of the ...

Emotionally gripping
Somehow I missed reading this book as a child and recently read it on the recommendation of a friend. From page one this book grabbed me and pulled me in. I was so intrigued by the beautiful writing and almost tangible descriptions that I felt like I was standing beside Meg as the story unfolded. I felt Meg's fear. Her overwhelming love for her youngest brother and her entire family. Her ...
