Cured my forearm/wrist pain and relieved my TMJ condition as well
About a year ago, I began to suffer from pain and tightness in my wrists, forearms, and hands; This was undoubtedly related to my computer job and hobbies that were very hand/wrist intensive. Over time, my condition steadily deteriorated. I tried various forms of conservative therapy consisting of rest, stretching, strengthening, icing, etc... This only provided temporary relief. Finally, I came ...

Just what I needed!
This is my favorite book to study from. It gives you the essentials to pretty much any health related problem. Ok, so it's not Harrison's book of internal medicine. But it is small enough that I can carry it without getting a hernia.

Great news for women over 50
I have enjoyed Dr. Mao's book very much and have started implementing some of his suggestions. How wonderful to work with natural ways that the body can immediately benefit instead of drugs, surgery and psychiatry.

Life changing experience.
As a medical oncologist, I thoroughly enjoy this book! The story is compelling that it comes from a cancer survivor and an outstanding scientist who really put together wonderful information in regard to life style management to fight cancer. The information provided is not from one's wild imagination but with sound scientific data. This is what we were desperately lacking in oncology practice ...

Feel Good Today.
Feeling Good is not only a great self-help book, it's a way of thinking. And by that I mean, it's your thoughts that usually cause the problems, right? Well, this book will discuss that and tell you how to use congnitve behavior therapy to get through this and onto feeling good. I liked it very much and would defintely recommend it to those who do suffer from nervous disorders. It's a great read ...

An Eye Opener
I wondered about Ms. Somers skills in the field of cancer and oncology. She has an extraordinary grasp of both. Her expose of the fraud perpetrated by oncologists treating cancer patients is stunning. A 'must read' for anyone with cancer as well as those who want to learn how to avoid becoming a cancer victim.

Amazing, Practical, Illuminating
This book is incredibly helpful and practical for dealing with one's issues. It lays out clearly both the mechanisms by which our problems plague us and methods to successfully deal with and navigate those issues. Anyone who feels they are not living their best life or has any issues with depression, fear, anxiety, sadness, anger, shame, etc, would benefit tremendously by this book.

Gerson therapy works
This book does a good job detailing the Gerson therapy. There are newer books by the Gerson institute, but this one has all the basics. My partner's cancer indicator dropped from 180 to 80 after 1 week on the Gerson therapy.

DBT saved my life.
The principles and tactics of dialectical behavior therapy (and the people that taught them to me) saved my life. This workbook is an excellent tool to supplement DBT training but is not a stand-alone treatise on DBT. A helpful source for review and DBT skill mastery. Learning DBT from any book without the group training and one-on-one counseling would be great, but is not realistic. If you ...

A must read for back pain
I first saw this book in a physical therapist's office. The colorful photos and easy introduction caught my attention. It was clear to me in just a few pages that we have sorely gone off track with our posture in the United States and elsewhere. I bought the book and found the exercises approachable and easy to do. They helped me with my back pain. Esther Gohkale does a great job of breaking ...

"don't believe everything you think"
I've been a fan of Dr. Burns for a long time because he explains cognitive behavioral therapy/theory (CBT) so well and has plenty of techniques for using it. The main idea is that the way we think strongly influences how we feel and sometimes, how we act. When we can change our distorted ways of thinking, the door opens to greater happiness and satisfaction. Of course, when the door opens, you ...

helps understand the mechanisms of trauma
This book was the most detailed book I've ever seen on trauma. I had spent 20 years in cults and have been affected from various forms of abuse and manipulation. It doesn't matter what form the trauma took. In my case I had complex PTSD, but this is a great book that describes the things necessary for recovery. For my case, since I had a few addictions, I had found a "safe" group as described in ...

Well written, applicable skills.
Whether you're a counselor teaching DBT or a an individual in need of one, this book is good. It doesn't go into the reasons of the disorder, just the basics on what skills to practice to help regulate emotions. Great in conjunction with DBT therapy but not a substitute to therapy, for those who need this DBT.

Motivational Interviewing
This is one of the books I keep on my desk at all times. I'm a counsellor for teenagers at risk, and one of the things that get young men and women to trust their therapist is when they can notice improvement in their situation right away. I use a lot of NLP techniques, of course, but I also take a lot from Motivational Interviewing. This book is clear, to the point, and full of great ...
