A book you'll never be albe to put down
The book Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech is and unforgettable book about a child, Salamance Tree Hiddle, (Sal for short) who is traveling with her grandparents around. She starts to tell a story, but instead of some random story, she unravels her own. The story was about a 13 year old girl named Phoebe who was on a mission to find her missing mother. This book is heart-warming and filled with ...

Respectable Sins
"Sin is sin. Even those sins that I call `the acceptable sins of the saints' - those sins that we tolerate in our lives - are serious in God's eyes. Our religious pride, our critical attitudes, our unkind speech about others, our impatience and anger, even our anxiety (see Philippians 4:6); all of these are serious in the sight of God." (pg. 21) In his new book, Respectable Sins: Confronting ...

A MUST for any past, present or future hiker
Heard A WALK IN THE WOODS, written and read by Bill Bryson It is the true tale of the author's attempt to walk the 2,100 Appalachian Trail, which stretches from Georgia to Maine . . . although he ultimately was not successful in completing the entire AT (as it is called), it wasn't for lack of trying. You'll find yourself actually laughing out loud at much of his account . . . also, ...

If I were king of the forest...
Nice story -- I really enjoyed it. A young woman suddenly, traumatically, finds that she is a shape-shifter. Her father, who she had thought was a high-school boy who died in a car-crash, is a Leo -- a were-lion -- a pride leader, and alive. To learn who she really is, and how to control this new aspect of her nature, she goes to visit. Trouble -- there are those in his pride who are by no ...

Life Changing...
This book will help you understand historically why we do what we do in church today (not that it is bad perhaps, just not all biblical - more like tradition). The book is slightly miss-titled to grab readers attention, which it deserves. It rocked my Christian world into understanding. Loved this book! I am buying several copies for my family and friends.

Challenges your thinking
Interesting a reviewer said Baucham teaches "Beating kids=good! Evolution=Bad!" ...it tells you right there that reviewer has succumbed to the culture that Baucham ironically warns people against (the culture says spanking=beating kids and macroevolution=fact). For everyone else, this book shows Christians how our practices have been influenced by the culture (rather than the other way around) ...

Chances are good you'll like this one
This smart book will make you think. Academic yet easy to read, it explores how random events shape the world and how human intuition fights that fact. I found this point fascinating. It never occurred to me that our brains naturally want to see patterns and order, and life doesn't necessarily work like that. It's comforting to think of an orderly world, with everything in its place, running ...

As always, a great book of John Eldredge
I read this great book while still reading "Hearing God" from Dallas Willard, and found these two books great and worth reading together as they are complementary, how to walk with God wthout hearing God talking to us ? Of course, John Eldredge is teaching us how to listen to God, but the book of Dallas Willard (mentioned in the books of J. Eldredge) handles the problem of listening to God in a ...

Must Read
This is a fantastic book that provides great insight into one of the most inspirational leaders in modern history. His story in particular and the anti-apartheid struggles in general are fascinating and provide extremely valuable lessons. With his humbleness and incredibly lucid and organized writing style (which admittedly did surprise me), this could be the best autobiography out there. One can ...

Truly Horrendous Tale but with a Happy Ending
Sunday, March 26, 2006 "The Long Walk" by Slavomir Rawicz, © 1956 This is an amazing story. It is incredible that the torturers in the U.S. Army did not read this or take lessons from the KGB, because some of their tortures are very similar to what is described in this book. But that is only in the first two chapters. The rest of the book is the story of Mr. Rawicz's walk with his cohorts from ...

The Journey
The problem that so many people have with this book is that they place too much importance on who wins the competition. This book, however, is not a tale about the beginnings and ends. It is a story about the actual journey of life. After all that is what life truly is about. The fact that it is a story about the journies of a 100 kids, who all, to some small degree, know that they are going to ...

A Beautiful, and Poignant Novel!
A WALK TO REMEMBER was a novel I checked out from the library because I was tired of fast-paced action novels by John Grisham and Tom Clancy (don't get me wrong; I love Grisham and Clancy). I like dramas and romances, so I checked this one out. It's the first Sparks novel I've read. I was stunned. Not only was it intelligent and engrossing, but it pierced your soul; it could make you laugh ...

You On A Walk
I use this cd everyday for my 30 minute walk. I hadn't exercised in years and this was easy to start. I moved up quickly to the next level. I enjoy the "cool down" and stretches. I have surprised myself with even running during part of my walk. For someone who didn't want to get out the front door, this has truly become an activity I look forward to everyday.
