The Dialect of Forth and Bargy1 review
S. Dolan, Jacob Poole, ...

Four Courts Pr Ltd, 2000

A Dialect Of Forth and Bargy
I heard about this book from family members and teachers after I had inquired about the dialect "Yola", a Norse language which continued to be spoken on the south-western shores of Ireland long after its exploitation by the Vikings. The book was an excellent source of information for my projects, and gave me much insight into the spoken language in that area of the world.

Tales From the San'tone River Bottom: A Cultural History: Origins (Vol. 1)3 reviews
Louise S. O'Conner

Wexford Publishing, 1998

interesting
Full of "gossip" concerning some of our ancestors. See if you can find one of your ancestors in this book. A wonderful book and a fun read. I suggest that you buy it or at least try to find it at your local library. I really enjoyed it, and I found out some info. on one of my ancestors, suff that I didn't know about, and things that I wanted to know about. If you have the time, please read ...

Limes Hydraulic Cement and Mortars1 review
Q. A. Gillmore

Wexford College Press, 2000

Preservationists MUST Buy This Book
On its surface, this book is an exceptionally thorough record of the materials and methods employed by 19th Century military engineers in building the Third System of American Seacoast fortifications. In providing us with a clear picture of the state and level of their technical understanding, and of their economic considerations, Gillmore has given us a window into this period and provides a ...

Margaret Shepherd

Wexford Press, 1977

Entire book lettered in Calligraphy! Very impressive!
I have been teaching Calligraphy for over 20 years. I've reviewed many books, and I like this one the best. I recommend this book for my students. I suggest they buy this book first, then check out the others by this author, they're all outstanding!

John David Garcia

Wexford College Press, 2003

Barraging With Light!!
John David Garcia is a prophet. For all who want to rationalize religion while still holding religion's mystical right relevant you'll be gripped by Garcia's directness, clarity, rhythm, force and authority. For the secular and orthodox Garcia has found the binding knot. Come and read for yourself how he untangles it, seemingly guided by The Divine Nod!

County Wexford, Ireland, Genealogy & Family History, special extracts from the IGF archives2 reviews
Michael C. O'Laughlin

Irish Genealogical Foundation, 2001

County Wexford, Ireland, Genealogy & Family HIstory,
This is a handy little book. (note: it is not a coffee table book by any means.) I found it to be loaded with lots of raw information, and it gave a good overview of my families and research in County Mayo. It was interesting that most of the families with coats of arms are not old Irish families, but families that settled in Ireland over time. The arms are old and worn as it says in the book ...

Harry's War2 reviews
D. Edward Bradley

Wexford College Press, 2003

Don't miss this well written, character driven novel
Harry's War is a touching, coming-of-age story set against the back drop of the horrors of World War Two. The story is compelling, though never maudlin or overwritten. I wholeheartedly recommend this first chronical of the Harry Lockwood series of books. It, along with the other 3 or so novels in the series, offers a fascinating glimpse into the world or war as seen through the eyes of a ...

The New Southern Gentleman4 reviews
Jim Booth

Wexford College Press, 2002

The New South
I've been waiting for this book's release for awhile, having seen a draft copy of it some time back. Imagine if Fitzgerald were Southern, lived now, and had approached Gatsby from a slightly different perspective. That's sort of what Booth's satire, the NEW SOUTHERN GENTLEMAN, is like. The focal characters, two law students born into once-proud families with good Southern pedigrees that have ...

Yeasts: Culture, Identification, and Microbiology1 review

Wexford College Press, 2003

The title says it all: YEASTS
Everything you want to know. This book was well written, easy to read and very thorough. As a microbiologist I found the information very helpful for my use and would definitely recommend the book to anyone interested in using yeast in food products.

Anchor Hocking's Fire-King and More: Identification and Value Guide Including Early American Prescot and ...9 reviews
Gene Florence

Collector Books, 2000

A Fabulous Reference Guide....
I have been an avid glass collector for years, and just recently began collecting vintage tableware and cookware too. This is my first book on the subject, and the informational text is only surpassed by the wonderful pictures of all my favorite pieces that I currently own, or hope to soon. This book covers alot of ground on the history of each piece, collection and patterns that are out ...

The Thermionic Vacuum Tube-Physics and Electronics1 review
H. J. Van Der Bijl

Wexford College Press, 2003

The Definitive Work
Hendrik van der Bijl wrote The Thermionic Vacuum Tube around 1920, in the height of the Radio Era. The Thermionic Valve is the glowing vacuum tube, or "sweep tubes" used in old tube radios. Anyone reading this review most likely knows their use has declined since the transistor radio, but tubes are still in quite common use in restored pieces, and high-end and hand-made hi-fi and stereo ...

Shake Hands Forever10 reviews
Ruth Rendell

Doubleday, 1975

Sharp, focused mystery
Shake Hands For Ever - a novel which takes its title from a work by Michael Drayton - is very much a Wexford novel. There's not a lot of Burden here at all, instead Rendell turns her full attention to the character of Wexford, and his frustration when he comes upon a case which he feels he knows the answer to, but cannot prove. Until, one year after it occurs, new information starts turning up... ...

An Unkindness of Ravens1 review
Ruth Rendell

New York Ballantine 1986., 1986

Review
An Unkindness of Ravens (1985) is the first Rendell novel I have read for four years, and it shows her gifts?characterisation and plotting?at their best, as she combines a scathing look at political extremism, the psychology of adolescent girls, and a gripping police procedural, with themes of feminism, extremism, teenagers vs. parents, women vs. men, poor vs. rich, and paedophilia. At the heart ...

Round Ireland with a Fridge71 reviews
Tony Hawks

audible.com

Just for the Craic!
Tony Hawks is a legend. Absolutly brilliant.... one of the few books which have actually made me laugh out loud. Be wary of reading in public places because the constant smile/giggling to yourself can prove to be a little socially akward.

Stretching and Strengthening Exercise Handbook1 review
H. J. Van Der Bijl

Wexford College Press, 1999

An excellent book
This book is very easy to follow and has excellent illustration's and instructions. It also has a simple home stretching and exercise log guide so you can record your progress. What I really like is that each exercise and illustration is on a seperate page and easy to see. And the price is chump change. I recommend it.

Massachusetts, California, Timbuktu (Inspector Wexford Mysteries)19 reviews
Stephanie Rosenfeld

BBC Audiobooks, 2003

A knock-your-socks-off debut!
What a read. Stephanie Rosenfeld not only captures the complex life of her 12 year old main character, she also manages to show the torture of mental illness and it's effect on family. When her mother can no longer cope with her manic/depressive life, Justine must take over the care of herself and her little sister. Trying to live a "normal" as possible, Justine is forced to be not only the ...
